WIRING

The 2011-2014 F-150 PCM is located on the passenger side of the engine bay, mounted on the firewall. The PCM has three connectors. Power, RPM, vehicle speed, and throttle position signals can be accessed at these connectors. When the PCM is installed in the vehicle, the Transmission connector will be on the right, the Engine connector will be in the middle, and the Cowl connector will be on the left.

The Cortex EBC wiring harness connects to the PCM connectors as outlined in the following table. (C = Cowl Connector, E = Engine Connector, T = Transmission Connector). RPM and vehicle speed signals are required for boost by gear applications.

PCM Connector Diagrams

The document displays diagrams of the PCM connectors. The 'HEADER VIEW' shows the pin layout from the perspective of the PCM itself, with three connectors labeled: '70 Way "Key D"' (Cowl), '70 Way "Key E"' (Engine), and '50 Way "Key C"' (Transmission). Each connector diagram shows pin numbers and their approximate locations. Below this, the 'MATING CONNECTOR'S' view shows the corresponding pin layout from the perspective of the wiring harness connectors. Pin numbers are again indicated for each of the three connectors, corresponding to Cowl, Engine, and Transmission connections.

VEHICLE CONFIGURATION SETTINGS

RPM DETECTION

  • Mode: RPM
  • Pulses Per Cycle: 7
  • Rotations Per Cycle: 2

A screenshot shows the 'CRC Vehicle Configuration' window, which has tabs for RPM, Speed, Gear, and GPI. The active tab is 'RPM'. Under 'RPM Input Configuration', the settings are displayed: 'Mode:' is set to 'RPM', 'Pulses Per Cycle:' is set to '7', and 'Rotations Per Cycle:' is set to '2'. Below these settings are buttons labeled 'New', 'Open', 'Save', 'Read', and 'Done'.

GEAR DETECTION

Follow the steps in the Setup – Gear Detection section of the Help utility to determine the correct EVS ratio settings for gear detection.

The 'Help Navigator' window is shown, featuring a 'Contents' tree on the left and a main content pane on the right. The 'Contents' tree lists various sections of the Cortex EBC Help documentation. The main content pane displays the title 'SETUP - GEAR DETECTION'. It includes a 'Related Topics' section with links to 'Vehicle Configuration Overview', 'Engine Speed (RPM) Detection Setup', 'Vehicle Speed (VSS) Detection Setup', 'General Wiring Instructions', and 'Changing Display Gauge Parameter'. Part 1: Data Collection instructs the user to 'Establish a USB connection with the Cortex EBC (Instructions)'.

SPEED DETECTION

Follow the steps in the Setup – Vehicle Speed Detection section of the Help utility to determine the correct Pulses Per Mile setting. NOTE: Gear detection setup should be performed before calibrating the Pulses Per Mile setting.

The 'Help Navigator' window is shown, featuring a 'Contents' tree on the left and a main content pane on the right. The 'Contents' tree lists various sections of the Cortex EBC Help documentation. The main content pane displays the title 'SETUP - VEHICLE SPEED DETECTION'. It includes a 'Related Topics' section with links to 'Vehicle Configuration Overview' and 'General Wiring Instructions'. The 'Setup Procedure' is divided into 'Step 1' and 'Step 2'. Step 1 instructs to 'Establish a USB connection with the Cortex EBC (Instructions)'. Step 2 instructs to 'Open the Vehicle Configuration window by clicking the Vehicle Configuration... button in the toolbar at the top of the Cortex Config window'.

THROTTLE POSITION DETECTION

Follow the steps in the Setup – Throttle Position Detection section of the Help utility to determine the correct Closed TPS Voltage and Open TPS Voltage settings.

The 'Help Navigator' window is shown, featuring a 'Contents' tree on the left and a main content pane on the right. The 'Contents' tree lists various sections of the Cortex EBC Help documentation. The main content pane displays the title 'SETUP - THROTTLE POSITION DETECTION'. It includes a 'Related Topics' section with links to 'Vehicle Configuration Overview', 'General Wiring Instructions', and 'Changing Display Gauge Parameter'. Part 1: Initial Configuration, Step 1.1, instructs to 'Turn your vehicle to the 'on' position but do not start the engine. Establish a USB connection with the Cortex EBC (Instructions)'. Step 1.2 instructs to 'Open the Vehicle Configuration window by clicking the'.
