Wait for the booting light and sound signal. It takes max. 5 seconds. On Windows PC (at the first connection) a pop-up windows shows the connection
Install the appropriate device driver software. In some cases, you may not be able to install the driver when using keyboard emulation. For Windows10, you may need to enable the installation of unsigned drivers in the cabinet during the driver installation in the “Advanced Boot” menu (it takes effect after the PC is restarted and only remains valid until the next reboot). When you are finished installing the virtual serial port, open and run the CardReaderManager utility included on the CD for the first try. A detailed description of the program can be found in the user manual. Operating instructions
Language
You can specify the desired language of the software interface selecting a flags on the left.

Connection data
By selecting the Connection data menu item on the left, the following settings become available:
,,Connection info” section COM port: Select the serial (COM) port of the connected device from the drop-down menu.

Card Reader Manager User Guide

10

You can check this in the “Device Manager” under the “Ports” tab in Windows.

Baud rate:
From the drop-down menu, you can specify the value of the signal ratio in the range 1200 – 115200. This value is 115200 by default.

Card Reader Manager User Guide

11

,,Communication” section
Device address: Enter the device address. This can be either the PCSW address of the device or the PCS address. By default, the PCS address is the last 2 digits of the 12-digit serial number on the sticker on the back of the device, PCSW is the last 6 digits of the serial number. If you do not know the address and we are sure that only the device you have connected is working on the given serial port, then choose the value 255. In this case, regardless of the address, the device will receive the commands. Attention! If several devices are connected to the computer via the serial port, then in the case of the value 255, all devices will receive the sent commands, which may result in loss of information, malfunctions, or failures! It is not necessary to set the other values at the user level for connection.

Card Reader Manager User Guide

12

Device info
Select the ,,Device info” menu item.
A small pop-up window with device information will then appear. The most important of them are: PCSW address, Firmware version, runtime. You can close this information window with the “OK” button.

Card Reader Manager User Guide

13

After that, select the “Search Device” button. The program recognizes the device and loads the corresponding parameter table, then reads the corresponding values from the device. The parameter list that then appears contains the parameters that the user is allowed to set by the manufacturer.

In the column highlighted in blue, you can change the value of the parameters.
The edited values are written to the device using the button with the triangle icon in the form of the Play button in the row of the corresponding parameter.
The zoom button reads the one parameter that is in the same row as the parameter.
With the “Save” button on the left, the entire parameter table can be written to the device. If the complete listing fails, the modified parameters can be entered individually with the small icons next to the magnifying glass for each parameter.

ASCII message template
The parameter 700 “ASCII message template” should be mentioned separately, since by configuring it, we have the possibility of an infinite number of format samples of incoming messages during carding. By clicking on the parameter, the associated small window pops up, which consists of 3 parts.

Message template:
Here we can enter the commands related to the message, which can be divided into several groups and change the input values to the desired output.

20

Sample input:
In order to see the results of the commands set in the previous point, we can record input sample values. The output value in the sample is obtained from this input sample value as a result of the commands.
Sample output:
We can visually see the output value displayed during using proximity card. We can check back whether the commands we entered give us the desired output and it is possible to make further changes.

Q & A
Q: The reader: Proxer22L-HF-W4-OEM built-in proximity card reader 13.56MHz, Wiegand, RS485, 2116-21. By default, the readers return the IDs of the NFC members read in 26 bits. The members we use have 64-bit identifiers. How can we switch the readers so that we get the full 64-bit ID from the devices? A: EEPROM parameter 541 (“Wiegand format”) must be set to “8 – Only card number 66bit”.
