Cartridge installation, stylus exchange
* If you purchased this turntable in a package that included the cartridge, this has already been done for you.
Install the cartridge into the aluminium headshell, using the appropriate hardware included with your cartridge. All cartridges with half inch mounting holes can be fitted.
Connect the cartridge as indicated below:

  • White left channel L+
  • Red right channel R+
  • Green right channel R-
  • Blue left channel L-
  • For correct cartridge alignment, use the two-point cartridge alignment protractor provided with your T2 accessories. If unfamiliar with two-point setup, please refer to your dealer.
  • A damaged or worn stylus may harm your record collection and should be replaced.
  • Please remove stylus protection before pulling the stylus from the cartridge and replace for a new one.
  • Stylus type is exchange for pre-mounted cartridge Sumiko Rainier: Stylus Sumiko Rainier. If in doubt, consult your local dealer or di

Vertical Tracking Force setting (VTF)
The T2 Super Phono comes with the counterweight already assembled on the tonearm, and the tracking force is factory pre-adjusted.
To adjust or fine tune the tracking force manually, loosen the hexagonal screw on top of the counterweight (7) using the allen key provided. Remove the stylus protection cover and place the stylus pressure gauge onto the platter. To set the required VTF, lower the tonearm lift lever (10) as indicated in the illustration and place the tip of the stylus on one of the points on the scale. For example, the Sumiko Rainier requires 20mN of tracking force, so place the stylus on the 20mN point.
If the stylus gauge becomes level when the tonearm is lowered down onto the desired point, then the correct pressure has been achieved. However, if there is insufficient or excessive pressure, the gauge will either not move or tilt down.

Pro-Ject-T2-Audio-Systems- (4)To adjust the amount of pressure, carefully move the counterweight (7) along the support rod, until the stylus pressure is sufficient to raise the pressure gauge to the level position. Moving the counterweight (7) away from the cartridge will reduce pressure and towards will increase pressure. Finally secure the counterweight (7) using hexagonal key provided.

Maintenance and cleaning

Your record player requires little or no regular maintenance. Remove dust with a slightly moistened antistatic cloth. Never use a dry cloth because this will create static electricity which attract more dust! Antistatic cleaning fluids are available at specialist stores but must be applied sparingly to avoid damage to rubber parts. It is recommended to fit the needle cover before cleaning or maintenance is carried out to avoid damage.
If the player is not used over a long period of time the drive belt can be removed to prevent unequal stretching.

Switching on and off, changing replay speed
The turntable is equipped with a three-position switch for ON/OFF and electronic speed change. To play records at 33 rpm. press this switch (3) to the rear side. To play records at 45 rpm. press this switch (3) to the front side as shown on illustration below. Pro-Ject-T2-Audio-Systems- (6) Anti-skating
The anti-skating force is pre-adjusted from the factory corresponding to the tracking force.
Sumiko Rainier recommended tracking force 20mN = anti-skating set to 2 (middle position).
You can adjust the anti-skating by rotating the anti-skating setting screw to the left or right. Pro-Ject-T2-Audio-Systems- (7)Connection to the amplifier
Connect the tonearm cables to the Phono input (sometimes labelled gram, disc, or RIAA) on your amplifier.
Ensure that the phono input offers the correct matching and amplification for the type of cartridge used. Line inputs (such as CD, Tuner, Tape, or Video) are not suitable. Be sure to connect the left and right channels
correctly. The right channel is usually marked red, and the left channel is black or white. Check the manual supplied with your amplifier for relevant information. An earthing wire may be connected to the screw terminal on your amplifier if you encounter hum problems when using the record  player. If your amplifier does not have an input suitable for phono cartridges, you will require a separate phono amplifier stage for MM or MC cartridges, which is then connected between the record player and a free line level input on the amplifier.

No signal through one or other channel or both channels:

  • No signal contact from the cartridge to the internal tonearm wiring or from that to the arm lead or from that to the phono box or between that and the amplifier. This could be due to a faulty plug, broken wire or solder joint or simply loose plug/socket connection.
  • Correct input not selected at amplifier.
  • Amplifier is not switched on.
  • Amplifier or speakers are defective or muted.
  • No connection to the loudspeakers.

Distorted or inconsistent sound from one or both channels:

  • Record player is connected to wrong input of amplifier.

T2: A New Modern Marvel
The T2 sensibly enhances our critically acclaimed T1 for-mula, introducing many new audiophile features, setting new standards in its new price-range.

Highest Quality Materials
The elegantly crafted CNC-machined plinth has been expanded in size to enhance stability and is available in striking finishes such as High Gloss Black, Satin White, or Walnut. It boasts a construction free of plastic com-ponents and meticulous manufacturing that eliminates any hollow spaces within, effectively preventing un-wanted vibrations within the chassis. Furthermore, the glass platter in the T2 has been made heavier and thicker compared to its predecessor, ensuring a zero-resonan-ce design that effectively eliminates the shortcomings associated with plastic or lightweight steel alternatives. Complementing these improvements, purpose-selected turntable feet effectively isolate the T2 from ambient vi-brations present in the vicinity of your hi-fi system.Pro-Ject-T2-Audio-Systems- (13)Speed Control, Motor and Drive
The motor and drive system in the T2 remain identical to those found in the T1. The motor drives a belt system, connected to our newly designed sub-platter exclusive to the T-line. This sub-platter is mounted on an ultra-pre-cise 0.001mm main bearing with a hardened steel axle and brass bushing. Where most alternative products may use un-regulated DC motors with wide speed fluc-tuations, the T2 features our proven system of an elec-tronically regulated, precision-speed AC motor. The T2 also comes with electronic speed switching bet-ween 33 and 45 RPM. The result is a low-noise, stable drive system for the turntable. Pro-Ject-T2-Audio-Systems- (14)New Tonearm & Anti-Skating
The tonearm on the T2 has been improved with a longer arm tube. With its straight, 9” effective length and stiff aluminium construction, this one-piece tonearm also features new updated low-friction bearings to accom-modate the increased length and diameter for absolute accuracy in use. Besides the clean and stylish looks, the integrated headshell won‘t cause any additional vibra-tions either, and is a big improvement over other de-tachable, screwed-on or glued-on headshells! The T2 also comes brand new with an adjustable spring-based anti-skating mechanism that optimizes performance and extracts the utmost potential from your cartridge. Pro-Ject-T2-Audio-Systems- (15)Sumiko Rainier MM cartridge
The T2 comes preadjusted with a high-value Sumiko Rainier MM cartridge (MSRP 175€) featuring an ellipti-cal diamond stylus tip; this is a true hi-fi playback sys-tem with no corners cut.

Pro-Ject-T2-Audio-Systems- (16)Semi-balanced phono cable
Like the T1, the T2 is then finished with super shielded, semi-symmetrical, low-capacitance phono cables, purpose-designed by Pro-Ject – not off-the shelf RCA cables. There is also a dust cover for extra protection and a felt mat to protect your records.

Pro-Ject-T2-Audio-Systems- (17)The True Balanced Upgrade
The T2 has gold plated RCA outputs with completely symmetrical signal wiring, like any other Pro-Ject turn-table with phono RCA outputs too. This means by upgrading to a MC cartridge or our Pick it PRO Balanced – our specially designed balanced MM cartridge – and using one of our balanced phono stages, like the Phono Box S3 B or DS3 B, with one of our True Balanced cables, you can leverage all the advantages our True Balanced Connection has to offer. Less noise, more dynamics, clean and punchy transients and simply a deeper musical involvement. The new 9“ tonearm and adjustable anti-skating make the T2 play perfectly with a wide range of high-end MC cartridges.
