Overview of the main unit
Get started
Caution

Connect power
The unit can be powered by either AC power or batteries.
Option 1: AC power
Warning
- Risk of product damage! Make sure that the power supply voltage corresponds to the voltage printed on the back or the underside of the unit
- Risk of electric shock! When you disconnect the AC power, always pull the plug from the socket. Never pull the cord.
Connect the AC power cord to the wall socket.

- To save energy, turn the unit off after use
Option 2: Battery power
Caution
Batteries contain chemica substances, so they should be disposed of properly.
- Open the battery compartment.
- Insert 6 batteries (type: 1.5V R14/UM2/CELL) with correct polarity (+/-) as indicated.
- Close the battery compartment.

The batteries are not supplied,the user need to purchase them.
Turn on/Standby
Press the Standby button on the unit to turn on
Switch to standby mode
- The product switches to standby mode automatically when there is no audio detected for over 15 minutes.
- Press Standby button to wake up the product from standby mode.

You can play commercially available audio CDs:
- CD-Recordables(CD-R)
- CD-Rewritables(CD-RW)
- CD-MP3 discs
- Switch the source selector to CD-1-+ CD displays on the screen.
- Open the CD compartment-
- Insert a CD with the printed side facing up and close the CD lid gently.
Your CD sound machine starts to play automatically.

Program tracks
In CD mode, you can program a maximum of 20 tracks in CD or 99 tracks in mp3 disc.

Listen to the radio
With this product, you can listen to FM and DAB radio.
Note
Position the antenna as far as possible from TV, or another radiation source. For optimal reception, fully extend and adjust the position of the antenna.
Listen to FM radio
Tune to an FM radio station
- Press DAB/FM repeatedly to select FM source.
- Press and hold
for three seconds.
- The radio tunes to a station with strong reception automatically.
To tune to a weak station
Pressrepeatedly until you find optimal reception.
All available radio stations are stored automatically, then the ?rst stored radio station is broadcast when 30 preset radio radio stations are stored.
Store FM radio stations manually
- Press DAB/FM repeatedly to select FM source.
- Press PROG/PRESET to activate program mode.[P01] is displayed.
- Press
to allocate a number from 1-30 to this radio station, and then press.
- Repeat steps 1-3 to program more stations.
Note
To overwrite a programmed station, store another station in its place.
Select a preset FM radio station
In FM mode, press to select a preset number.
While listening to FM radio, you may toggle stereo and mono sound in the menu.

Display RDS information
RDS (Radio Data System) is a service that allows FM stations to show additional information.
- Tune to a FM radio station
- Toggle INFO menu to display various RDS information (if available), such as station name, program type, time, etc.
Listen to DAB radio
Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) is a way of broadcasting radio digitally through a network of transmitters. lt provides you with more choice, better sound quality and more information.
DAB radio operations
Note
New stations and services are added in DAB broadcast from time to time. To make new DAB stations and services available, perform scan regularly.
- Press DAB/FM repeatedly to select DAB source.
If you enter DAB source for the first time or if the station list is empty, the unit performs a full scan automatically.
→ [Scanning] is displayed.
→ The unit scans all the DAB radio stations automatically, and ther broadcasts the first available station. - Press and hold PROG/PRESET for three seconds.
→ The product scans all DAB radio stations automatically.
→ After scan, the first available station is broadcast.
Select a DAB radio station
After DAB radio stations are scanned, press 144 to select a DAB station
Store DAB radio stations manually
- Press KK /
to select a DAB radio station.
- Press PROG/PRESET to activate program mode. → [P01] is displayed.
- Press ALBUM/PRESET to allocate a number from 1-30 to this radio station, and then press or to confirm.
- Repeat steps 1-3 to program more stations.
To select a preset DAB radio station: In DAB mode, press PROG/PRESET.
Use DAB menu
- In DAB mode, press MENU (MODE) to enter the menu setting.
- Press
to select and enter corresponding menu options.
- [SCAN]: Scan and store all available DAB radio stations.
- [MANUAL]: Tune to a DAB station manually.
- [DRC]: Compress the dynamic range of a radio signal, so that the volume of quiet sounds is increased, and the volume of loud sounds is reduced.
- [PRUNE]: Remove invalid stations from the station list.
- [DBB]: Select DBB2/DBB1/OFF
- [DAB INFO]: Display DAB information.
- [DIM]: Adjust the different display brightness (HIGH/MED/LOW/OFF).
- [SYSTEM]: Access system settings.
Display DAB information
While listening to DAB radio, toggle INFO menu to display various information (if available), such as frequency, signal strength, time, etc.
Presetting stations to favorite radio stations
You can preset up to three favorite stations to FAVORITE RADIO STATIONS (1-3) buttons. Assign one DAB or FM program for each button.
- Press DAB/FM repeatedly to turn on the radiofunction and select the band “DAB” or“FM.”
- Tune to the station you want to preset.
- Press and hold button 1 or 2,or 3 until FAVRT 1/2/3 shows on the screen.
To change the preset station
Repeat steps 1-3.
The preset station on the button will be replaced by the new one.

Note
To prevent the preset from being changed by mistake, do not hold down the button. lf doing so, the preset on the button will be replaced by the currently tuned station.
Play from bluetooth Play from classic bluetooth
Note
- Compatibility with all Bluetooth devices is not guaranteed.
- Any obstacle between the unit and the device can reduce the operational range.
- The effective operation range between this unit and your Bluetooth enabled device is approximately 10 meters (30 feet).
- The unit can memorize up to 8 previously connected Bluetooth devices.
- Press CD/BT on main unit to select the Bluetooth source.
- → [NO BT] (Bluetooth) is displayed.
- On your device that supports Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP), enable Bluetooth and search for Bluetooth devices that can be paired (refer to the user manual of the device). Select ‘Philips TAZ6000’on your Bluetooth enabled device.
- After successful pairing and connection, [BT] is displayed and you will hear the prompt sound from the unit. 4 Play audio on the connected device. → Audio streams from your Bluetooth enabled device to this product.
To disconnect the Bluetooth-enabled device:
- Deactivate Bluetooth on your device.
- Press and hold CD/BT on the product for 3 seconds to enter pairing mode. Use BT menu
- In BT mode, press more to enter the menu setting.
- Press
to select and enter corresponding menu options.
- [BT PAIR]: Access the pair state.
- [DBB]: Select DBB2/DBB1/OFF.
- [DIM]: Adjust the different display brightness (HIGH/MED/LOW/OFF).
- [SYSTEM]: Access system settings.
Play from Auracast
Note
Auracast is coming soon, the latest firmware of device to be installed to use Auracast feature. Download and install Philips Entertainment app. Follow the instruction from Philips Entertainment app to perform a software upgrade.
You will be able to play music on this CD Soundmachine from multiple Auracast-compatiable transmitting device around house.
- Short press the “CD/BT” button in BT mode to switch to Auracast source.
The [AURACAST RCV] is displayed. - The unit will automatically search for nearby Auracast broadcasts, the free broadcast channels.
Play your favorite music from the Auracast enabled mobile device or dongle to the unit.
To quit Auracast :
Change to other sources and leave Auracast. Deactivate Auracast broadcast on your mobile device or dongle.
Scan Auracast broadcast channel
Press and hold PROG/PRESET for more than 3 seconds.
The unit scans all Auracast broadcast automatically. After scan, the available Auracast channel is broadcast.

Press to select an Auracast broadcast channel.
Play from USB
Note
Make sure that the USB device contains playable audio content.

Listen to an external device
You can listen to an external device through this unit with an audio cable.
- Press USB/AUX IN repeatedly to select AUDlO IN source.
- Connect an audio cable (3.5mm, not supplied) to the AUDlO-lN socket on the product.
- Start to play the device.
Note
The AUDIO-IN socket is not for headphones.

Unsupported USB formats

- DRM protected WMA files. (Note: only support some wav audio files).

Troubleshooting
Warning
To keep the warranty valid, never try to repair the system yourself.
If you encounter problems when using this device, check the following points before requesting service. lf the problem remains unsolved, go to the Philips Web page (www.philips.com/support). When you contact Philips, make sure that the device is nearby and the model number and serial number are availaple.
No power
Make sure that the AC power cord of the device is connected properly. Make sure that there is power at the AC outlet.
As a power-saving feature, the 15 minutes after track play reaches the end and no control is operated
No sound or poor sound
Adjust the volume.
Check that the speakers are connected correctly.
Check if the stripped speaker wires are clamped.
No response from the unit
Disconnect and reconnect the AC power plug, then turn on the unit again.

No disc detected
- Insert a disc.
- Check if the disc is inserted upside down.
- Wait until the moisture condensation at the lens has cleared.
- Replace or clean the disc.
Cannot display some files in USB device
- The number of folders or files in the USB device has exceeded a certain limit
This phenomenon is not a malfunction
- The formats of these files are not supported. USB device not supported
- The USB device is incompatible with the unit. Try another one.
Poor radio reception
- Increase the distance between the unit and your TV or other radiation sources.
Fully extend the radio antenna.
- Connect an outdoor radio antenna. You may purchase a replacement antenna cable with a L-shape plug on one end, as shown below.
- Connect the L-shape plug to this product, and fit the plug on the other end into your wall socket.
Music playback is unavailable on this unit even after successful Bluetooth connection.
- The device cannot be used to play music through this unit wirelessly.
The audio quality is poor after connection with a Bluetooth-enabled device.
- The Bluetooth reception is poor. Move the device closer to this unit or remove any obstacle between them. Bluetooth cannot be connected with this unit.
The device does not support the profiles required for this unit
- The Bluetooth function of the device is not enabled. Refer to the user manual of the device to find out how to enable the function.
- This unit is not in pairing mode. This unit is already connected with another Bluetooth-enabled device.
Disconnect that device and then try again.
- The paired mobile device connects and disconnects constantly.
- The Bluetooth reception is poor. Move the device closer to this unit or remove any obstacle between them. Some mobile phones may connect and disconnect constantly when you make or end calls. This does not indicate any malfunction of this unit.
