PATA 2024-11-21 PCI Express Host Adapter
Introduction
Thank you for purchasing this PATA PCI Express (PCle) Host Adapter. It is designed to support two PATA storage devices. With its onboard boot BIOS, it provides a boot feature from its connected device (hard drive or CD-ROM drive,…). It is an ideal solution to support legacy PATA devices over PCI Express bus.

Board Layout
Hardware Installation
- Power down the computer.
- Remove the computer cover and save the screws.
- Choose an unused PCI Express bus slot.
- Unscrew and remove the slot cover. Retain the screw; you will use it when you install this product later.
- Place the PATA PCI Express Host Adapter into the slot.
Carefully press the board into the slot until it sits firmly. - Secure the PATA PCI Express Host Adapter with the slot cover screw.
- Install the internal PATA cable to your PATA devices.
- Carefully reinstall the computer cover. Insert and tighten the computer cover screws.
- Power up the PC and observe the monitor. The BIOS lists all PATA devices attached to the PATA PCI Express Host Adapter. For example:

If the information displayed on your monitor is correct (all installed devices are listed with the correct device name, etc.), congratulations! You have successfully installed the PATA PCI Express Host Adapter on your computer.
Software Installation
The PATA PCI Express Host Adapter supports native IDE mode, you don’t need to install any extra driver to work with. Your Windows operating system will detect the card and install the driver from its kernel automatically.
Changing the Boot Sequence
- In case you want to boot from the hard drive or CD/DVD drive connected to the PATA PCI Express Host Adapter, you may need to run your motherboard’s BIOS setup utility to change the boot sequence of your all bootable devices (including the motherboard’s and other add-in cards).
- Here is an example for your reference (your system may be very different from this example, you need to refer to your motherboard’s manual to complete the procedure precisely):
- Run the motherboard’s BIOS setup utility. It is usually entered by pressing the Del key while BIOS is checking all hardware configurations
- Select the Advanced BIOS Features
- Change Hard Disk Boot Priority and First Boot Device to enable the system to boot from your designated drive.
