Safety instructions
Before using the product, please familiarise yourself with all the operating and safety instructions. Please include all documentation when passing this product on to others.
- The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe these safety instructions! We do not assume any liability for any resulting damage!
- We shall not accept liability for damage to property or personal injury caused by incorrect handling or non-compliance with the safety instructions! In such cases, the warranty will be null and void.
- The unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the product is not allowed for safety and approval reasons. Do not disassemble the product.
- The product is not a toy. Be especially careful when children are around.
- The product may not be used for verification of voltage absence. The absence of voltage may only be verified by a bipolar voltage tester according to EN 61243-3.
- Only touch the product by the handle areas provided for that purpose. Do not cover the LED indicators.
- Take particular care when dealing with voltages exceeding 30 V~ or 30 V
Even at these voltages, there is a danger of fatal electric shock if you touch electric conductors.
- Do not use the product in rooms or under unfavourable ambient conditions in which there are or could be combustible gases, vapours or dust.
- Do not use in the immediate vicinity of:
- strong magnetic or electromagnetic fields,
- transmitting aerials or HF generators.
WARNING!
- The product does not perform a comprehensive test. It only checks for probable common improper wiring conditions. Refer all indicated problems to a qualified electrician.
- To avoid electric shock, do not touch any naked conductor with hand or skin.
- The product may not indicate the presence of a live conductor because a live conductor may be present when none of the LED indicators of the product lights.
- Do not use the product in a place where explosive gas, vapour or dust is present.
- In order to avoid electrical shock, use caution when working with voltage above 32 V~ RMS, 42 V∼ peak or 60 V
.Such voltage poses a shock hazard.
- Always keep the product dry.
- The RCD test result of the product is not guaranteed to be correct.
- The LED indicators of the product may light up weakly depending on the distributed capacitance of the electrical installation.
- If a plug adaptor has to be used to test a shockproof socket or a lead connection, ensure that this plug adaptor is in a perfect condition and that the protective conductor connection of the plug adaptor is continuously connected. Using plug adaptors without continuous protective conductor leads to faulty test results.
- The product cannot detect an inversion of the neutral (N) and the earth (PE) conductor.
- The product is only intended for temporary connection (< 2 minutes) to shockproof sockets. The product is not intended for permanent operation!
- The product is not intended for determining the absence of voltage on electrical systems.
- The product is intended for measurements in dry environments.
- The product must be used only in earthed mains and at a nominal voltage of 220–240 V∼.
- Work on live parts and electrical components of all kinds is dangerous! Immediately before and after use: Check the product for correct functioning at a correctly wired shockproof socket.
- Do not use the product
- if one or more of the LED indicators are not working,
- if it does not seem to be ready for operation or
- if the surface of the housing exhibits visible damage!
- Before use: Always check the product for damages.
- Do not dismantle the product!
The product must be protected against contamination and damaging of the housing surface.
Before use
- Check the consignment for completeness and for signs of visible damage. If any damage is found, the product must not be used.
- Remove all packaging material from the product.
Use
- Testing the socket wiring
- Plug the product into the shockproof socket to be tested.
- The 3 combined LED indicators N [1], PE [2] and L [3] indicate the test result:
NOTES:
- For CORRECT RCD test, MISSING EARTH, MISSING NEUTRAL and MISSING LIVE wirings only the green LED indicators PE and/or L turn on.
- The red LED indicator N also turns on for CORRECT
Please reverse and LIVE/EARTH REV to inform that the wiring is reversed.
RCD test
WARNING! The product is a simple indicator and cannot be used as a replacement of a professional RCD tester.
- To prevent from electric shock, make sure that no electrical device is connected on the circuit to be tested before RCD test.
- Check for correct wiring of all shockproof sockets on the branch circuit under the monitoring of the RCD to be tested.
- Plug the product into the shockproof socket, which is under the monitoring of the RCD to be tested. Verify that the shockproof socket’s wiring is shown as CORRECT.
If the wiring is shown as CORRECT Please reverse: Unplug the product from the shockproof socket. Turn the product by 180° (see fig. B).
Plug the product into the shockproof socket again. Check if wiring is shown as CORRECT (see “Testing socket wiring”). - Press RCD TEST [5] to check the tripping function of an upstream RCD (IΔ = 30 mA):
- Plug the product into the shockproof socket, which is under the monitoring of the RCD to be tested. Verify that the shockproof socket’s wiring is shown as CORRECT.
NOTE: Once the RCD is tripped off, the N [1], PE [2],L [3] and IΔn > 30mA [6] LED indicators turn off. If these indicators do not turn off, there might be a problem in your RCD (or) electrical installation. Contact a qualified electrician immediately.
