While there’s little math needed to set up and operate the PantoRouter, there’s ample opportunity to teach the Mathematic principles involving the 2:1reduction between the template and joinery, and all scales have both a metric and inch-scale side.
Safety
While operating the PantoRouter, the student’s hands firmly hold two control levers with a 2:1 mechanical advantage over the router and bit, so the travel of the router bit is only half the distance of the control lever. This dramatically improves control, and since the PantoRouter moves the router to the workpiece instead of moving the workpiece to the router, even long and otherwise unwieldy boards can be safelyjoined using traditional or advanced joinery methods.
