Getting Started
Before pairing the SwannBuddy 4K Video Doorbell with the Swann Security app, check the following:
- The SwannBuddy is charged. For charging information, refer to the quick start guide that came with the device or download it from support.swann.com or here.
- Your phone is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. 5 GHz networks are not compatible.
- Have your Wi-Fi network password ready.
- Ensure your phone's Location setting is turned on, as the app requires this permission temporarily to detect Wi-Fi networks.
- Your phone is running the latest version of the Swann Security app available on the App Store.

Troubleshooting
Tips for resolving pairing issues:
Turning on "Local Network" Access Setting
For iOS 14+, enable 'Local Network' in your device's settings for the Swann Security app to discover and connect to your SwannBuddy. Tap 'Enable' on the popup and toggle 'Local Network' to ON.
Unable to Join Network (Swann-SWIFI-xxxxxx)
- Ensure the SwannBuddy is charged and in pairing mode (LED blinking blue slowly). If not, press and hold the SET button on the back for 6 seconds until the LED blinks blue slowly and you hear "Ready for pairing". Tap 'Try again' in the app.
- If automatic connection fails, tap 'Setup Manually' and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Phone network or security policies might interfere.
Failed to Establish Initial Connection
- Ensure the Wi-Fi network is not unencrypted or 5GHz. Use a 2.4GHz network. Contact your ISP if your router only broadcasts 5GHz.
- Ensure the SwannBuddy is within Wi-Fi range. Move it closer to the router or use a range extender.
- Verify the Wi-Fi password is correct (case-sensitive). Use the toggle icon to check.
- Check if your router uses MAC filtering. If so, add the SwannBuddy's MAC address (found on the back of the device) to the router's white-list.
