  • Keep batteries out of reach of children.
  • Dispose of used batteries promptly in accordance with local regulations.

Charging the Video Doorbell

Your Video Doorbell is shipped partially charged. For optimum performance, fully charge it with the included USB-C charging cable before use.

  1. Open the rubber cover on the back of the Video Doorbell.
  2. Insert the smaller end of the charging cable into the USB-C port on the Video Doorbell, and the larger end into a USB power supply or wall charger.
  3. The light ring around the doorbell button will glow solid blue while charging and turn off once the Video Doorbell is fully charged.
  4. Actual charging times may vary depending on the USB power adapter used and the remaining battery level. A full charge may take up to six hours.
  5. After charging, unplug the USB-C charging cable from the Video Doorbell and close the rubber cover to keep out water and dust. Align the cover properly and gently press around the edges to seal.

  2. Press and hold the Doorbell button on the Video Doorbell for 3 seconds. The Chime’s LED indicator will immediately turn off, confirming successful pairing.

  4. Test the Chime by pressing the Doorbell button on the Video Doorbell. You will hear the “Ding Dong” melody.

Changing the Chime Melody

You can change the Chime’s default “Ding Dong” melody by following these steps:

  1. Press the Chime’s SET button once to select the next melody in the sequence.
  2. Press the Doorbell button on the Video Doorbell to listen to the selected melody.
  3. Repeat steps 1-2 until you hear a melody you prefer. There are six melodies to choose from.

Setting Up the Video Doorbell

  1. Download the latest version of the Swann Security app from the Google Play™ Store or Apple App Store® on your Android or iOS mobile device. Simply search for "Swann Security".
  2. Open the Swann Security app and sign in, or tap “Not yet registered? Sign Up” to create your Swann Security account. Activate your Swann Security account by confirming the verification email sent to your registered email address.
  3. Pair the Video Doorbell. In the Swann Security app, tap the Pair Device button on the screen (or tap the menu icon [Menu Icon] in the top left and select Pair Device). The app will now guide you through the pairing process to set up the Video Doorbell with your Wi-Fi network.

Please note that the Video Doorbell is only compatible with the 2.4GHz network. If your router is using the 5GHz band, ensure that it is operating in mixed mode.

Mounting the Video Doorbell

The Video Doorbell can be mounted on the wall using the supplied mounting bracket. Before mounting, ensure that the desired installation location has strong, reliable Wi-Fi reception. Use the app to stream live video from that location. If you encounter no video streaming issues, you've found a suitable spot for your device. If the Wi-Fi signal is weak or out of range, consider installing a Wi-Fi range extender to improve coverage.

Suggested Installation Height

Around chest-height, 1.2-1.6m /3.9-5.2ft (depending on location) from the ground.

Bracket Installation

  • If mounting on a wooden surface, screw the bracket directly to the surface.
  • If mounting on a masonry surface or drywall, insert wall plugs before screwing the bracket to the surface.
  • If mounting on a window panel, use the supplied double-sided (rectangular) tape. Peel off the liner on one side of the tape and apply it to the back of the bracket. Peel off the opposite liner, then press the bracket firmly against the window panel for 60 seconds. Allow 24 hours for the adhesive to fully cure before attaching the Video Doorbell to the bracket.
  • For screw installation only: If there is a gap between the wall and bracket, fill it with the supplied bracket foam tape.

Attach the Video Doorbell to the bracket, then tighten the anti-tamper screw at the bottom with a small Philips® screwdriver to secure in place. [Anti-tamper screw hole] [Anti-tamper screw]

Answering the Video Doorbell

When someone presses the Video Doorbell button, the Chime will sound, and you’ll receive a push notification from the Swann Security app. Simply open the notification to watch live video and see who’s at the door. You can also use the 2-way talk function to speak directly or play a preset message while in live view.

Motion Detection

The Video Doorbell’s motion sensor detects the heat signatures of moving objects. Whenever motion is detected, the Video Doorbell records the event. Event clips can range from 10 seconds to 1 minute in length, depending on how long the motion activity lasts. You can customize the motion sensor’s sensitivity level in the app. If you’re receiving too many false alerts, try reducing the sensitivity. Keep in mind that increased activity detection and recording will drain the battery more quickly.

Rebooting the Video Doorbell

On rare occasions, it might be necessary to reboot the Video Doorbell if it becomes unresponsive. A simple reboot can often quickly resolve connectivity issues.

To do this:

  1. Using a paper clip or a similar tool, press the RST button on the back of the Video Doorbell to power it off.
  2. Press the SET button for 1 second to reboot the Video Doorbell. It will automatically reconnect to the Wi-Fi network.

Swann Security App Manual

To learn more about using the Swann Security app, you can download the manual from the App Menu > User Manual or scan the QR code for your mobile device. The app manual provides detailed information on how to view live video from the Video Doorbell, use 2-way talk, playback and download event recordings, configure camera settings, troubleshoot issues, access FAQs, and more.
