Once the workpiece is secured, you can begin processing:
- Tool Setting: Before processing, insert the turning tool into the turning tool clamping jaw. Adjust the slider to align the turning tool horizontally with the live center and the center of the three-jaw chuck.
- Yatsani: Yatsani lathe.
- Control Feed: Move the small slider in the Y-axis direction to control the feed rate.
- Control Processing Position: Move the large slider in the X-axis direction to control the processing position.
Mfundo Zofunika:
- If the workpiece is not concentric or has an outer imaginary circle, remove the outer imaginary circle before proceeding.
- Kudula Kuzama: For wood, the cutting depth should be less than 2mm per pass. For aluminum or copper, it should be less than 1mm per pass. Exceeding these limits may cause the motor to stop due to self-protection.

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your lathe:
- Clean the machine thoroughly after each use, removing all chips and debris.
- Lubricate moving parts, such as lead screws and slide ways, periodically with appropriate machine oil.
- Inspect all fasteners and tighten any that may have loosened during operation.
- Check the condition of the chuck jaws and replace if worn.
8. Mavuto
If you encounter issues with your lathe, consider the following:
- Motor Stops During Operation: This is often due to exceeding the recommended cutting depth for the material. Reduce the cutting amount per pass. The motor has a self-protection feature that will activate to prevent damage.
- Workpiece Not Secure: Ensure the three-jaw chuck is tightened properly and the live center is firmly pressed against the workpiece. Check that the tailstock screw is fixed.
- Zodulidwa Molakwika: Verify that the turning tool is correctly aligned horizontally with the live center and the chuck's center. Ensure all sliders and components are free of debris and properly lubricated.
