Common Issues

Common Issues – “TUNE is restricted from writing this vehicle” Error

If you are trying to write a tune file sent from Northern Tuning and receive the message: “TUNE is restricted from writing this vehicle”
This usually means your VCM Suite software is not up to date.

Solution:

  1. In VCM Editor, click Help in the top menu.
  2. Select About.
  3. Check for available updates or downloads.
  4. If prompted, download and install the latest version of the software.

We build and test all of our tune files on the latest version of VCM Suite, so using outdated software may prevent successful flashing.
