This Privacy Policy explains how collects, uses, discloses, and retains information when you visit Manuals.plus, use its documentation and search tools, create an account, save manuals or notes, submit questions or uploads, or contact us. It also explains the advertising and measurement services used on the site and your privacy choices.
Please also read our Terms and Conditions and Disclaimer. Copyright notices and content corrections can be submitted through our DMCA and content request form. For privacy questions or requests, contact through our domain contact form. Identify your message as a Manuals.plus privacy request.
1. Information we collect
- Website and device information. Our servers and service providers may process IP addresses, browser and device characteristics, language, approximate location derived from an IP address, requested pages, referring pages, search queries, access times, cookie identifiers, and diagnostic or security information. Advertising links may contain campaign and click identifiers, such as Google click identifiers or Microsoft’s msclkid.
- Account information. When you sign in or connect a supported identity provider, we process information needed to identify and secure the account, such as your email address, name or display name, provider account identifier, profile picture where supplied, sign-in method, sign-in times, and security information. For passkeys, we store the credential identifier and public verification key needed to authenticate you.
- Saved items and account features. We process saved manuals, notes, account preferences, linked sign-in methods, and any membership or access status associated with your account. Notes described as private are intended for your account and are not published as public questions.
- Questions, comments, and uploads. We process the text, documents, URLs, files, metadata, and contact information you provide. Material submitted for publication may appear publicly, including any name you choose to display. Do not include confidential information, passwords, or sensitive personal details in material intended for publication.
- Communications and content requests. We process the information you submit when contacting us or requesting a correction or removal. A formal copyright notice also requires claimant contact details, identification of the copyrighted work, a signature, and the applicable declarations.
- Advertising and conversion information. Advertising and measurement providers may process page views, interactions, conversion events, click identifiers, campaign information, device or cookie identifiers, and conversion values. Where the feature is enabled, an email address supplied during an account sign-in or question submission may be normalized and hashed for advertising identity matching or conversion measurement. Hashing changes the format of an email address; it does not make the resulting identifier anonymous.
2. How we use information
We use information to provide and maintain the documentation library, return search results, operate accounts and requested features, process and moderate submissions, respond to requests, verify access to optional membership features, protect against abuse, diagnose errors, and improve the service. Relevant submitted content may be processed by hosting, communications, or automated-processing providers to operate the feature you requested.
We also use advertising and measurement information to display advertisements, measure advertising effectiveness, attribute visits and conversions, report performance, and support the operation of this website. Advertising personalization and identity matching are subject to the choices and consent requirements described below. We do not treat agreement to these Terms or continued website use as a replacement for consent that the law requires for optional tracking.
3. Cookies, local storage, and similar technologies
The site and its providers use cookies, local or session storage, tags, pixels, and related technologies. These include:
- Necessary technologies for authentication, account security, fraud prevention, requested functionality, and remembering privacy choices. These may remain active when optional advertising technologies are declined.
- Preference technologies that remember site or account settings.
- Analytics and measurement technologies that help us understand usage, diagnostics, attribution, and conversions.
- Advertising technologies used by advertising providers to deliver, personalize where permitted, and measure ads across websites, browsers, or devices.
Cookies can be set by Manuals.plus or by a third-party provider. Some attribution cookies, including our paid-click source cookie, have a lifetime of up to 30 days unless cleared or renewed by another relevant visit. Other lifetimes depend on the particular cookie and provider. The consent interface and the provider disclosures linked below give information about applicable purposes, vendors, and choices.
4. Ezoic advertising, analytics, and identity services
We use Ezoic to support advertising, analytics, consent management, and related website services. Ezoic and its advertising partners may use cookies or other identifiers and process device, usage, advertising-interaction, and approximate-location information. Where enabled, Ezoic identity features may also use a hashed or encrypted email address supplied through a sign-in or another relevant interaction to match advertising identities. Ezoic’s disclosure identifies its services and links to information about its advertising partners.
You can always read Ezoic’s current disclosure for Manuals.plus, Ezoic’s Privacy Policy, and Ezoic’s advertising partner information, including when embedded content is unavailable.
5. Google advertising, AdSense, and Google Ads measurement
Google advertising services, including AdSense and Google’s advertising partners where used, may set advertising cookies and use other identifiers. These technologies can help Google and its partners select ads using visits to Manuals.plus and other websites, as permitted by your privacy choices and applicable law. Other advertising vendors may also participate through our advertising providers.
We use Google Ads measurement to attribute advertising visits and conversions. Where enhanced conversions are enabled, first-party information such as an email address supplied to us may be normalized, hashed, and shared with Google to help match and measure conversions. This is advertising measurement information; it is not made anonymous merely by hashing. Where consent is required for this sharing or use, the applicable consent choice must permit it.
Read Google’s Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from sites and apps that use its services. You can manage Google personalized advertising through My Ad Center. Additional participating-provider opt-outs are available through YourAdChoices and the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out tool.
6. Microsoft Advertising and Universal Event Tracking (UET)
We use Microsoft Advertising’s Universal Event Tracking (UET) and related measurement features. Microsoft collects or receives personal data through these features, which may include cookie or device identifiers, IP addresses, browser information, page visits, advertising click identifiers, and conversion events. This information is used for attribution, conversion measurement, reporting, and advertising personalization or remarketing where enabled and permitted.
Where enhanced matching is enabled, an email address supplied during a relevant first-party interaction may be normalized, hashed, and sent to Microsoft for identity matching and advertising measurement. Microsoft processes information under its own privacy terms. Read the Microsoft Privacy Statement and use Microsoft’s advertising privacy settings to manage applicable Microsoft advertising choices.
7. Other disclosures and service providers
Information may be disclosed to providers needed to host and secure the website, deliver communications, authenticate accounts, store or process requested content, provide analytics and advertising, or operate membership features. These include hosting and security services such as Cloudflare and the identity provider you choose for sign-in. When you use the domain contact form, Cloudflare processes that submission as part of delivering it to the domain operator. An external service may also process information under its own privacy policy.
For Premium purchases and support payments, Ezoic provides checkout and access verification, and its payment provider processes payment credentials. The Premium application receives access results and purchase metadata needed to provide the purchased service and measure transactions; it does not store full card numbers or payment credentials. Read our Premium privacy and purchase-data notice, Ezoic’s Privacy Policy, and Stripe’s Privacy Policy for the applicable payment and access practices.
Public submissions can be viewed by other visitors and may be indexed or copied by third parties. We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law or a valid legal request, investigate abuse, protect people or the service, or address a business transfer, subject to applicable privacy requirements. Advertising recipients and their practices are described in the provider disclosures above.
8. Consent, advertising choices, and opt-outs
Where offered for your location, use the site’s consent message and its settings, vendor-list, or privacy-options controls to accept, refuse, or change optional purposes and vendors. You can revisit the consent interface using the privacy-options control displayed by the consent provider. Where consent is legally required, optional tracking and related data sharing require the appropriate consent. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that lawfully took place before withdrawal.
You can also use the Google and Microsoft settings and the industry opt-out tools linked above. Depending on the provider, choices may apply to a particular browser, device, or signed-in account. Clearing cookies or using a different browser may require you to make your choices again. Blocking cookies in your browser is an additional option, although blocking necessary cookies may affect account functionality. Declining personalized advertising does not necessarily remove all advertisements.
In US jurisdictions with applicable privacy rights, advertising disclosures may constitute a sale, sharing, or use of personal information for targeted advertising under local law. Use the available consent or opt-out controls to exercise those choices, or send a privacy request. Applicable recognized browser signals, such as Global Privacy Control, are relevant to these choices. Our advertising implementations and consent providers must respect such signals where the law requires them.
9. Access, correction, deletion, and other privacy rights
Depending on your location and the law that applies, you may have rights to access information, obtain a copy, correct inaccurate information, request deletion, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, or opt out of certain advertising disclosures. You may also have a right to appeal a request decision or complain to a competent privacy regulator. We will not discriminate against you for exercising rights available under applicable law.
You can manage saved items and account settings through your account, and use the account-deletion feature where available. To exercise other rights, contact , identify the website and request, and provide enough information to locate the relevant records. We may need to verify your identity or an authorized agent’s authority. Please do not send a password or unnecessary sensitive information. Requests are handled within the period required by applicable law, subject to permitted exceptions.
For removal or correction of published material, use the content request form. Account deletion and content-removal requests serve different purposes; some records may need to be retained for legal obligations or the protection of legal rights.
10. Retention
Retention depends on the record and why it is needed. We use the following periods or criteria rather than a single lifetime for all information:
- Account records and saved items: retained while needed to maintain your account and requested features, until you delete an item or account, subject to security, legal, and backup requirements.
- Published submissions: retained while published or needed to maintain the documentation and question library, subject to applicable removal requests and legal requirements.
- Communications and content requests: retained as reasonably necessary to investigate and resolve the request, complete follow-up, comply with legal obligations, and establish or defend legal rights.
- Usage, security, and attribution information: retained according to its operational purpose, configured log or storage lifecycle, security needs, and applicable legal requirements. Our paid-click source cookie lasts up to 30 days; provider cookie and data lifetimes are described in their disclosures.
- Backups: deleted information may remain in routine backups until the applicable backup lifecycle expires. Backup copies are not intended to restore deleted information into ordinary active use.
- Advertising-provider records: Google, Microsoft, Ezoic, and other providers apply their own retention practices and account or privacy controls, as described in their policies.
11. Content corrections, removals, and copyright notices
General correction or removal requests through our content request form may be anonymous; a name, company, and email address are optional for those requests. Without an email address we cannot send a reply. Formal DMCA notices require claimant contact information, identification of the work and disputed material, a signature, and the required good-faith and authority declarations.
These requests are available to authorized administrators and are not published as website content. We use the submitted information to review, investigate, respond to, and document the request and meet legal obligations. The form temporarily uses a one-way identifier derived from the submitting IP address to limit abuse. The raw IP address and browser user-agent are not stored in the content request itself, although infrastructure and security logs may process technical request information.
12. Security, processing locations, and legal bases
We use access controls and other safeguards appropriate to the service, including HTTPS for information submitted through the website. No transmission or storage system can guarantee absolute security. Our service and providers may process information in the United States and other countries, whose privacy laws may differ from those in your location. Where applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers, the relevant transfer must rely on an appropriate lawful mechanism.
Where a legal basis is required, processing may be necessary to provide a requested service, comply with a legal obligation, pursue legitimate interests such as security and service operation subject to applicable rights, or rely on consent for activities that require it. A provider’s own processing and transfer practices are explained in its privacy terms.
13. Children
The service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 18 or knowingly use children’s information for advertising identity matching. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so that we can investigate and take appropriate action.
14. Changes and contact
We may update this policy to reflect changes in the service, providers, or applicable requirements. The date above identifies the current version. Where a change requires additional notice or a new consent choice, those requirements apply.
