3.2 Blank Slides and Coverslips

The set includes 72 pre-cleaned clear blank glass slides and 100 glass coverslips. These are provided for users to prepare their own specimens, allowing for hands-on learning and experimentation.

3.3 Pipetten

Fifty 1mL plastic pipettes are included for convenient handling and transfer of liquids, such as stains or water, during specimen preparation.

4. Instellen

Before using the microscope slide set, ensure you have a clean, stable workspace and a functional microscope.

5.1 Using Prepared Slides

1. Select a Slide: Choose a prepared slide from the wooden case based on the specimen you wish to observe.

3. Focus and Observe: Using your microscope's controls, adjust the focus and magnification to view the specimen. Start with the lowest magnification objective lens and gradually increase as needed.
4. Return to Case: After observation, carefully remove the slide and return it to its designated slot in the wooden storage case.

5.2 Preparing Your Own Slides

This set includes blank slides, coverslips, and pipettes for creating custom specimens. Basic steps for preparing a wet mount:

1. Clean Slide: Ensure a blank glass slide is clean and free of dust or fingerprints.
2. Apply Specimen: Place a small, thin specimen in the center of the blank slide.
3. Vloeistof toevoegen: Using a pipette, add a drop of water or a suitable mounting medium over the specimen.
4. Apply Coverslip: Gently lower a coverslip over the specimen at a 45-degree angle to avoid air bubbles.
5. Remove Excess Liquid: If there is excess liquid, carefully blot it with a piece of filter paper.
6. Let op: Place the newly prepared slide on the microscope stage and observe.

• Cleaning Slides: For prepared slides, gently wipe with a soft, lint-free cloth if necessary. Avoid harsh chemicals. For blank slides, use lens cleaning solution and a soft cloth.
• Opslag: Always store prepared slides in their wooden case to protect them from dust, scratches, and breakage. Keep blank slides and coverslips in their original packaging or a dust-free container.
• Behandeling: Handle slides by their edges to avoid leaving fingerprints on the viewgebied.
• Pipettes: Clean pipettes thoroughly after each use if reusing, or dispose of them responsibly if single-use.

7. Probleemoplossing

If you encounter issues during observation, consider the following common solutions:

• Wazig beeld: Adjust the fine and coarse focus knobs. Ensure the objective lens is clean and properly screwed in. Check if the coverslip is correctly placed on custom slides.
• Dark or Uneven Illumination: Adjust the microscope's light source intensity and diaphragm. Ensure the slide is centered on the stage.
• Dust or Debris on Image: Clean the microscope's eyepiece, objective lenses, and the slide itself.
• Air Bubbles in Custom Slides: Re-prepare the slide, ensuring the coverslip is lowered slowly at an angle.
• Damaged Slide: If a prepared slide is damaged, it may not be repairable. Use a new slide.
