This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation of your Smeg EGF03 Semi-Automatic Espresso Machine. Please read these instructions thoroughly before first use and retain for future reference.

4. Setup
4.1 Preparazzjoni Inizjali

- If using a water filter, condition it as per its instructions (typically by soaking for 5 minutes) before placing it in the tank.
- Securely reinsert the water tank into the machine.

4.3 Imla l-Fażola Hopper
- Open the lid of the integrated conical burr grinder's bean hopper located on top of the machine.

5. Istruzzjonijiet Operattivi
5.1 It-tħin tal-kafè
- Select the appropriate filter basket (single or double shot) and place it into the portafilter.
- Adjust the grind size and grind amount using the dials on the machine's control panel. Finer grinds are typically for espresso.
- Position the portafilter under the grinder outlet.
- Press the grind button to start grinding. The machine will automatically dispense the set amount of coffee.

5.2 Tamping Coffee
- Place the portafilter on a flat, stable surface.
- Uża t-tamper to press the ground coffee firmly and evenly into the filter basket. Aim for a consistent, level surface.
5.3 Brewing Espresso
- Insert the portafilter into the group head and twist it firmly to lock it into place.

- Select your desired brew mode (single or double espresso) and temperature using the control panel buttons.

5.4 Ħalib bil-fwar
- Fill the stainless-steel milk jug with cold milk, typically up to just below the spout.
- Toggle the mode button to 'Steam'.
- Position the steam wand into the milk, just below the surface, at a slight angle.
- Activate the steam function. Move the jug to create a swirling motion, incorporating air to create microfoam. Continue until the jug is hot to the touch.
- Turn off the steam function and wipe the steam wand immediately with a damp drapp.

6. Manutenzjoni
6.1 Tindif ta 'Kuljum

7 Issolvi l-problemi
If you encounter issues with your Smeg EGF03, consider the following common troubleshooting steps:
- No Espresso Flow: Check water tank level, ensure portafilter is correctly inserted, and verify coffee grind size and tamping pressure are appropriate.
- Weak Espresso/Too Fast Extraction: Adjust to a finer grind size or increase tamppressjoni.
- Bitter Espresso/Too Slow Extraction: Adjust to a coarser grind size or decrease tamppressjoni.
