Miller Edge MWRT12B Series Wireless Edge

Miller Edge MWRT12B Series Wireless Edge

What is the MW wireless edge product line?

Miller Edge MW wireless systems include non-monitored sensing edge transmitters and receivers for commercial and industrial overhead doors and automated gate systems. When a sensing edge connected to an MW transmitter encounters an obstruction in the path of travel, it sends an immediate signal to the MW receiver to stop and/or reverse motion of the operator.

What are models MWRT12B and MWRTA12B?

MWRT12B and MWRTA12B are single-channel non-monitored wireless sensing edge transmitter and receiver systems. MWRT12B and MWRTA12B are sold as transmitter and receiver kits.

What are models MWR22B, MWT12B, and MWTA12B?

MWR22B is a two-channel non-monitored receiver that is compatible with MWT12B and MWTA12B wireless sensing edge transmitters. MWR22B, MWT12B, and MWTA12B are sold as individual lcomponents.

What are the differences between the MW versions?

In April 2024, Miller Edge announced an engineering change notice stating that the MW wireless 2edge systems changed due to the availability of parts. The new components have a 2-position binary coding switch versus the pre-April 2024 version, which had a 3-position trinary coding switch.

Are the binary and trinary components interchangeable?

Yes. Additional programming is necessary to connect a binary component with a trinary component.
Please be sure to read and follow the installation instructions for binary systems manufactured after April 2024 for the required steps.

Can these systems be used with monitored sensing edges?

MW wireless edge systems are designed for use with 2-wire non-monitored sensing edges. For monitored sensing edges, use the RBand monitored wireless sensing edge system.

Can these systems be used with older operators?

Yes, MW wireless edge systems are compatible with non-monitored commercial door operators manufactured prior to 2010 and automated vehicular gate operators manufactured prior to 2016.

What is included with the single-channel kits?

  • MWRT12B: Includes (1) MWR12B* receiver and (1) MWT12B transmitter. Also included are (2) 1.5V AA alkaline batteries and (4) transmitter mounting screws.
  • MWRTA12B: Includes (1) MWR12B* receiver and (1) MWTA12B transmitter with a low battery alarm. Also included are (2) 1.5V AA lithium batteries and (4) transmitter mounting screws.

* MWR12B single-channel receivers not sold separately.

What are the main features of the MW wireless systems?

MW wireless systems feature on-board diagnostics for easy setup and troubleshooting. With a NEMA 4 weatherproof transmitter enclosure, the transmitters feature compact and robust housings that are  suitable for indoor and outdoor use. They operate on 318 MHz frequencies, offering a reliablewireless connection within a 100-foot operating range. Additionally, they have a wide temperature range and are equipped with (2) long-life AA batteries.

. What are the differences between the transmitter models?

The MWTA12 transmitter has a built-in low battery alarm that sounds when the battery power is at or below 25%. The MWT12 transmitter has no low battery alarm.

What are the differences between the receiver models?

The MWR12B single-channel receiver is compatible with one transmitter, either MWT12B or MWTA12B. The MWR22B two-channel receiver is compatible with multiple transmitters per channel (MWT12B and/or MWTA12B).

What applications can these systems be used for?

MW wireless systems are used in applications such as motorized commercial/industrial overhead doors and automated vehicular gates. The systems provide real-time transmission of obstructions,  ensuring prompt response to sensing edge obstructions. They are designed for reliable operation indemanding commercial and industrial environments.

How do these systems integrate with existing systems?

MW wireless systems are designed for easy integration with systems requiring a non-monitored normally open or normally closed output. The systems are ideal for use with pre-2010 commercial and industrial door operators, pre-2016 automated vehicular gate operators, and when a sensing edge is used as a non-monitored secondary entrapment device.

What are the benefits of using these systems?

MW wireless systems offer several benefits including reduced installation time and costs. The wireless operation eliminates the need for hardwiring with cords and reels and has on-board diagnostics for easy setup and troubleshooting. MWRT12B and MWRTA12B are ideal for retrofitting existing installations (pre-2010 commercial door operators and pre-2016 automated vehicular gate operators).

Are these systems compatible with other Miller Edge products?

Yes, MW wireless systems are designed to work seamlessly with any Miller Edge 2-wire non-monitored sensing edge profile, ensuring a cohesive and reliable safety solution. Sensing edges are sold separately.

What is the warranty period for these systems?

MW wireless systems are backed by Miller Edge’s standard warranty, which covers defects in materials and workmanship for a specified period. Please refer to the product documentation for warranty details.
