Product Usage Instructions
Part I
- Disconnect the shift cable and remove the derailleur from the bicycle.
- Switch the clutch to the off position.
- Remove the pulley wheels using a 3mm hex wrench.
- Inspect the pulley wheels for wear.
Part II
- Remove the return spring stop screw with a Philips head screwdriver.
Part III
- Unwind the cage of the derailleur clockwise. Note: Be cautious as you will be working against the wound return spring.
Part IV
- Remove the clutch cover with a Philips screwdriver.
Part V
- Unscrew the clutch pawl assembly (Y-RD302) from the back of the derailleur body using a Philips head screwdriver.
Part VI
- Remove the clutch pawl assembly and clean it with isopropyl alcohol.
- Apply a small amount of wet lubricant to the mechanism and wipe off any excess.
- Do not leave residual lubricant that can contaminate the friction washers in the clutch ratchet assembly.
Part VII
- Reinstall the clutch pawl assembly and apply a drop of blue Loctite 242 to Y-RD302 mounting screws.
- Torque the screws to 2.5nm and ensure proper seating by slightly rotating the cage.
Part VIII
- Wind the cage anticlockwise while holding the derailleur body aside and reinstall the cage set screw at 2nm torque.
Part IX
- Test the clutch to ensure proper engagement.
- Apply blue Loctite 242 to the pulley bolts and reinstall them with a 3mm hex wrench.
- Torque the pulley bolts to 2.5nm.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Clutch Rebuild
- With the shift cable disconnected and the derailleur removed from the bicycle, switch the clutch to the off position.
- Remove the pulley wheels with a 3mm hex wrench.
- Inspect the pulley wheels for wear.
- Remove the return spring stop screw with a Philips head screwdriver.
- Unwind the cage of the derailleur clockwise .
WARNING: You will be fighting the wound return spring. Be careful to not hurt yourself.
- Remove the clutch cover with a Philips screwdriver.
- From the back of the derailleur body, unscrew the clutch pawl assembly (Y-RD302) with a Philips head screwdriver.
- Remove the clutch pawl assembly (Y-RD302) from the derailleur body. Clean the assembly with isopropyl alcohol. When dry apply a small amount of wet lubricant to the mechanism. Wipe off all excess.
NOTE: Residual lubricant can contaminate the friction washers in the clutch ratchet assembly.
- Do not disassemble the clutch ratchet assembly.
- Reinstall the clutch pawl assembly. Apply a drop of blue Loctite 242 to Y-RD302 mounting screws and torque to ≈ 2.5nm.
- Slightly rotate the cage to make sure the assembly is fully seated.
- Wind the cage anticlockwise while holding the derailleur body out of the way and reinstall the cage set screw ≈ 2nm.
- Test the clutch and make sure it is engaging.
- Apply blue Loctite 242 to the pulley bolts and reinstall the derailleur pulley wheels with the 3mm hex wrench.
- Torque pulley bolts to ≈ 2.5nm.
