Installation

  1. Straighten the Merlyn USB Dongle (See page 2)

  2. Connect the USB Receiver to the Android USB3.0 port on the bottom side of the rear of the panel.

  3. Make sure that the antenna is pointing down and there is a clear line of sight from the antenna to the RCU.
    Before using the remote control, ensure the batteries are loaded and pull tab has been removed.

Merlyn Display Software

Before downloading the software, your district will need to purchase Merlyn Display licenses from an authorized vendor. After purchasing the licenses, your district will gain access to the Management Console to register your panels and manage your software. This step should occur before you download the software to the panel.
Merlyn Display Software

The Merlyn Display software can be downloaded from the Newline App store on your panel. Depending on access settings, your display may require administrator approval to download the software.

After downloading the software, the Merlyn Display App will present you with a QR code to register in the Management Console. This is required to enable the software on the display.

Not sure if Merlyn is running

Try holding down the Push-to-Talk button ( ) and asking, “How’s the weather?” If you hear a response, then Merlyn is ready to use!

If you don’t get a response, try pressing the orange Merlyn Menu button toward the top of the remote to see notifications that will guide you to finish setup. If you do not see the Merlyn toolbar or notifications in the top right of your screen when you click the button, please click “apps” on your panel home screen and looking for an app called “Merlyn.” If you see it, click the app to start it. If it is not there, please contact your IT Administrator for help.

Press the Push-to-Talk button ( ) and then hold it down while you talk to Merlyn. Try some voice requests:
