Functional description
- The NR2 is a NFC reader module mounted on the B-pillar of the car. It used the NFC technology to grant access to the car. The NR2 connects to smartphones, wearables, and NFC tags to authorize door opening.
- The NR2 acts as an interface between the car electronics control Unit and applications on NFC devices. The car ECU requests the NR2 which communicates with the NFC device on the integrated antenna using a magnetic field.
Use
- The user places his paired NFC device (a smartcard or a mobile phone / wearable with an integrated secure element ID) onto the NR2. The NR2 authorizes the user to enter the car automatically as soon as a valid device is recognized. Then the door is unlocked and the driver can access the car.
