4. The Installation of the Paper Roll

The printer uses 58MM thermal paper and features easy paper loading. The maximum paper diameter is 43mm.

Thermal paper installation method:

1. Open the printer top cover.
2. Insert the thermal paper as shown in the diagram into the paper warehouse.
3. Pull out a small amount of paper outside the printer, then close the top cover.
4. Use the paper sawtooth to tear off redundant paper.

5. Operating Manual for Android OS

This manual applies to all Shenzhen Zijiang Electronics Android OS compatible printers (58mm & 80mm width). Common communication ports for Android OS are USB, Ethernet, Bluetooth, and WiFi.

Using Bluetooth as an example:

1. Insert the CD driver disc into the CD-ROM and connect your Android device with your computer.
2. Find the file named "SDK" from the CD driver, then follow the path: "Android SDK---BLUETOOTHDEMO----bin----BT-POSPrinter.APK", and install it onto your Android device.
3. Connect your Android device with the printer after installation.
4. Find the application icon on your Android device and click "Connect Printer" to search for the Bluetooth printer. The default pairing password for Bluetooth connection is "1234". After successful connection, click on "Print Test Page" to test the printer.

If using "Ethernet interface", "USB", or "WIFI" communication, replace "BLUETOOTHDEMO" in Step 2 with the corresponding "NETDEMO", "USBDEMO", or "WIFIDEMO".

Customers can access the original code from the path: src/com/zj/printdemo for developing their own APK.

6. Operating Manual for iOS APP

1. Download the Test Tools "POS-PrinterV1.0" from the App Store.
2. Turn on the Bluetooth setting of the iOS device, then click "POS-Printer".
3. Select the paper width (58mm or 80mm).
4. Select the communication method: "Bluetooth" or "WIFI".
5. If connecting via Bluetooth, click "Select Printer" to search for the "Bluetooth Printer" (default name). Click to connect.

7. USB Port Usage

1. Insert the CD-ROM, click on the "58/80 series printer driver software" file to start the installation. Select the desired installation language.
2. Click "OK" after selecting the language, then click "Continue".
3. Read and accept the License Agreement to proceed.
4. Click "Next". You can modify the driver installation path or use the default.
5. Click "Next" after the operation. Choose "install" or "install this driver software anyway" if prompted by antivirus software.
6. Wait for the installation interface. Select your computer's operating system and the printer model (POS58 series printer). If using a USB interface, click "USB Port Check" to automatically recognize the computer's USB port. Click "Next".
7. Click "Begin Setup". If the printer prints a normal page, the installation is successful. If it prompts "Print Error", try selecting a different "USB" port starting from "USB001".
8. Complete the driver installation. You can access printer properties via "POS-58 Properties" to set it as the default printer and print a test page.

8. Cleaning of Printer Head

Clean the printer head when:

• The printer does not print clearly and the thermal paper is okay.
• Printed pages are not clear lengthwise.
• The printer is noisy while feeding paper or printing.

Printer head cleaning steps:

1. Power off the printer, open the paper room cover, and remove the thermal paper roll.
2. If the printer was recently used, allow the print head to cool down.
3. Gently wipe the thermal printer head with a soft cotton cloth dipped in ethanol (ensure no dripping) to remove dust or stains.
4. Wait for the ethanol to evaporate completely. Replace the thermal paper roll, close the paper room cover, and print a test page.

Notes:

• Ensure the power is shut off during maintenance.
• Keep hands and metal tools away from the printer head surface. Do not use tweezers to scratch the printer head or other sensitive parts.
• Do not use organic solvents like gasoline or acetone for cleaning.

9. General Troubleshooting

• Self-printing test is ok, but the printer does not work after driver installation: Recheck the installation steps, ensure the correct port is selected, or contact customer service.
• Malfunction of paper feeding: Clean the paper sensor with a soft brush or send it for repair.
• Malfunction of the indicator light: Check cable connections, adapter, power cord, and power switch status. Contact customer service for repair.
• Messy code printing (except Arabic numerals): Incorrect language switching. Use the "IPrinter" tool (found on the enclosed CD) to change the language.
• Red indicator keeps flashing during printing: Usually due to high print head temperature. If printing stops, contact customer service for repair.
• Printing speed is very slow for serial printers: Change the setting via Driver -- Properties -- Device Settings -- Print Mode -- Print as soft font.
• Water or other liquid spills into the printer: Cut off the power. Dry the main board or printer head with a hair dryer on a moderate temperature (around 50°C).
• The printer cannot work: The battery may be depleted. Use the power adapter to charge. If the problem persists, send it for repair.
• Cannot search for the Bluetooth printer: Ensure the device's Bluetooth function is enabled and communication is normal. Replug the printer's "Bluetooth Module" and try searching again. If the problem persists, send it for repair.
