Kenwood's TK-280/380 compact portable radios offer top performance for demanding applications. They feature either Trunked Format or Conventional Format configurations, along with FleetSync™ Digital Messaging & Signaling, making them integral to any radio system.

- Two-Color LED: Provides traditional transmit/warning (red), receive (green), and alert (orange) visual indications.
- High-Quality Audio Output: Features a large 1.58-inch speaker element delivering 0.5-watt of audio power for clarity in noisy environments.
- MIL-SPEC Speaker Mic with Programmable Controls: The KMC-25 speaker microphone meets MIL-STD 810 C, D & E specifications and includes programmable PF keys for convenience and safety. It also has a recessed orange key for emergency ANI functions.
- Dot Matrix LCD Display: A high-resolution display with a 10-character alphanumeric alias and a 3-character sub-line for channel or group numbers. Seven icons provide easy status indications.
- Light Control: Manual and auto-shutoff control for key backlighting and LCD lamp for nighttime operation.
- Extra-Long Battery Life: Options include KNB-17A (10-hour Ni-Cd) and KNB-21N/22N (10/13-hour Ni-MH) batteries.
- Programmable Function Keys (PF Keys): Customizable keys for various radio features to suit user needs.
- Flash Memory Advantage: Allows for electronic updates and feature changes without opening the unit.
- Weather-Sealed Universal Connector: Features spring-action gold-alloy elements for excellent contact and conductivity, compatible with many Kenwood accessories.
Versatility
Trunked Format
Supports programmable LTR® trunked and conventional system partitions. Features include System Scan & Group Scan, Fixed Priority IDs, Transmit Inhibit, and Decode ID Block. Priority scanning is available within one conventional system partition.
Conventional Format
Provides traditional conventional operation programmable for multiple channels and groups. Priority scanning can be set for single or multiple group scan.
Large Channel Capacity
Offers up to 32 Systems/250 Group IDs in Trunked Format or 250 channels in Conventional Format.
Multiple Scan Functions
Includes system and group scan for monitoring multiple systems and talk groups. Talk Back scan allows immediate response to calls.
FleetSync™ Digital Messaging & Signaling
Basic Features
Provides fleet unit identification, selective calling, and messaging. Each radio has a Fleet and Unit number ID (250 fleets/4000 units per fleet). Features PTT ID (digital ANI), Caller ID*, Caller ID Stack*, Selective Calling, Extended ID List Capacity (100*), and Extended Status Message List (50*).
Enhanced Option
Extends basic features with custom Short Text Messaging (up to four 48-character messages), Long Text Messaging (1024-character messages for mobiles), and PC Serial Interface capability for advanced systems.

- Digital ANI & Emergency Options: Built-in PTT ID, Emergency, and Emergency Man-down Status messages. Optional modules support industry ANI formats (GESTAR®, MDC-1200®). Emergency can be triggered by a PF key or optional tilt switch.
- DTMF ANI & Emergency: DTMF PTT ID and Emergency ANI for business and industrial applications.
- Embedded Message: Stores owner identification and service records in flash memory for electronic identification.
