Freewing F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter
FREEWING 1/13 SCALE 70MM EDF JET
Wingspan: 820mm | Length: 1210mm | Empty Weight: 1700G (w/o Battery)
Introduction
Thank you for purchasing the Freewing 70 mm EDF Super Scale Jet, the F-35 Lightning II! It is 1210mm in length with a wingspan of 820mm. This 1/13 scale F35 uses EPO material. This F-35 innovates on previous versions by adding scale details with lots of engraved lines on the surface, new paint and decal processes, and lots of scale plastic accessories.
All control surfaces are easily removable, and the aircraft is adequately reinforced with carbon tubes to effectively improve structural strength and ensure flight quality.
The Freewing F-35 PNP Version features a 70mm 12-blade EDF impeller, 2957-2210KV outrunner motor, and 80A ESC. The PNP version uses one 6S 4000mAh 35C battery, achieving a top speed of 165KPH / 103MPH.
The shortest takeoff distance is about 22M. The air posture is stable, easy to control, and the action is gentle. The excellent flight stability of the F-35 is very consistent with modern Freewing jets. When landing, the F-35’s directional stability is good.
Due to the aerodynamic design, according to test results, at low speed, the model aircraft is prohibited from turning at a large elevation angle, which may cause a stall spin.
Important Notes for Operation:
- This is not a toy! Operators should have experience and beginners should operate under the guidance of professional players.
- Read instructions carefully before installation and operate strictly under instructions.
- Freewing and its vendors are not responsible for any losses due to incorrect operation.
- Model plane players must be at least 14 years old.
- The plane uses EPO material with spray paint. Do not use chemicals for cleaning, as it may cause damage.
- Avoid flying in public places, near high-voltage areas, highways, or airports where flying is prohibited by law.
- Do not fly in adverse weather conditions such as thunderstorms or snow.
- Store model plane batteries safely, away from flammable and explosive materials within a 2M range.
- Recycle damaged or scrap batteries properly to prevent spontaneous combustion and fire.
- Dispose of flying field waste properly; do not abandon or burn it.
- Ensure the throttle is in the low position and the transmitter is switched on before connecting the LiPo battery to the aircraft.
- Do not attempt to catch the plane by hand during flight or landing. Wait for the plane to stop completely before picking it up.

Battery Installation
Open the cockpit cover by pulling the latch back.
Battery Cabin Size: Length: 270mm | Width: 75mm | Height: 50mm
Recommended LiPo Battery: 6S 22.2V 3500mAh to 6S 22.2V 4500mAh, with a discharge rate of ≥30C.
Use rubberized non-slip tape or hook-and-loop tape for securing the battery.
Before connecting the battery and receiver: Ensure the transmitter power is on and the throttle stick is in the lowest position. Bind your receiver to your transmitter according to the transmitter's manual.
Install Nose Cone
Align the nose cone with the fuselage and secure with the magnet.
Pushrod Instructions
Nose gear steering pushrod: Length: 65 mm (27-15/16"), Pushrod diameter: Ø1.2mm
Rudder pushrod: Length: 41.5mm (4-15/16"), Pushrod diameter: Ø1.2mm
Elevator pushrod: Length: 55mm (2-1/4"), Pushrod diameter: Ø1.2mm
Aileron pushrod: Length: 78 mm (4-15/16"), Pushrod diameter: Ø1.2mm
Diagrams illustrating the pushrod mounting holes are provided for each control surface.
Center of Gravity (CG)
Correct CG is crucial for safe aircraft stability and responsive control. Adjust the CG by moving the battery forward or backward. If the recommended CG cannot be achieved by battery placement, a counterweight may be used. However, with the recommended battery size, a counterweight is typically not required. Avoid unnecessary counterweight.
The diagram shows the CG location, approximately 4mm from the trailing edge of the wing.
Control Direction Test
After installing the plane and connecting the battery to the ESC, use the radio to test and verify that all control surfaces are functioning correctly.
Aileron:
- Stick Left: Left aileron moves up, right aileron moves down.
- Stick Right: Left aileron moves down, right aileron moves up.
Rudder:
- Stick Left: Rudder moves left.
- Stick Right: Rudder moves right.
Elevator:
- Stick Up: Elevator moves up.
- Stick Down: Elevator moves down.
Dual Rates
The following parameters are recommended for setting Aileron/Elevator Rates. Program your preferred Exponential % in your radio transmitter. Using High Rate for the first flight is recommended. Switch to Low Rate for lower sensitivity if desired. Adjust Rates and Expo on subsequent flights to suit your preference.

Pre-Installed Component Overview
Servo Direction
The servo positive or reverse rotation is defined as follows:
- When servo input signal changes from 1000μs to 2000μs:
- If the servo arm rotates clockwise, it is a positive servo.
- If the servo arm rotates counterclockwise, it is a reverse servo.
If you need to purchase another brand's servo, please refer to the following list to choose a suitable servo:
| Position | Servo regulation | No. | Pos./Rev. | Cable length |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nose gear steering servo | 9g Digital-MG | 1 | Positive | 100mm |
| Aileron(R) | 9g Digital-MG | 2 | Positive | 100mm |
