Getting Started: Setup & Registration

This guide provides essential steps for setting up your Hubitat Elevation hub. Begin by connecting the hub to your network and power source.

Setup:

  1. Connect the supplied Ethernet cable to your network and the hub.
  2. Connect the supplied USB power cable to the hub and power adapter.
  3. Plug the power adapter into an outlet. The hub's front light should turn blue, indicating it's ready for discovery.

Registration:

  1. Visit portal.hubitat.com and log in.
  2. Your new Hubitat Elevation hub will appear in the list.
  3. Click "Register Hub" to link it to your account.
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete registration and set up your hub's location.

Note: Your computer must be on the same network as your hub for registration and web interface access.

Discovering and Automating Devices

Once your hub is set up, you can begin connecting your smart home devices.

Discover Devices:

  1. In the Hubitat Elevation Web Interface, click "Discover Devices".
  2. Put your smart device into pairing mode (refer to the manufacturer's instructions).
  3. Your device should appear on the Hubitat Elevation Web Interface within seconds. Ensure it is within range (typically 30 ft. or less).
  4. Rename your device and click "Save". Repeat for additional devices.

Get Automated:

With devices connected, you can start creating automations using built-in apps or custom ones.

  1. Click "Apps" in the Web Interface.
  2. Click the "Load New App" button.
  3. Select and install your desired app.

Important Note: Before unplugging or moving your hub, it is recommended to shut it down via the "Settings" menu and clicking "Shutdown Hub". The indicator light will turn red when it is safe to proceed.
