2017 Chevrolet Camaro

The 2017 Chevrolet Camaro represents a significant evolution of this iconic American sports car, blending performance, advanced technology, and striking design. Since its introduction in 1967, the Camaro has been a symbol of performance and style, consistently putting the driver first.

A Legacy Reimagined

The sixth-generation Camaro features lower, leaner proportions and a stunning profile, evident in every sculpted body panel. Chief Engineer Al Oppenheiser notes the importance of the 50th anniversary, highlighting the car's deep connection with enthusiasts across generations. This generation focuses on a sculptural form that reflects mass reduction, aerodynamic influence, and pure beauty, with crisp lines and a powerful stance.

50th Anniversary Edition

Available on 2LT and 2SS models in both Coupe and Convertible configurations, the 50th Anniversary Edition offers unique treatments. These include special badging, exclusive 20-inch machined-face aluminum wheels with unique center caps, a satin chrome-accented grille, a body-color front splitter, and Orange brake calipers (front only on LT). The interior welcomes occupants with illuminated door sill plates, Jet Black leather-appointed seats with sueded inserts and Orange accent stitching, and an exclusive "FIFTY" logo debossed on the head restraints.

Camaro LT

The Camaro LT offers exhilarating performance with two engine options: a 2.0L Turbocharged 4-cylinder engine producing 275 horsepower and 295 lb.-ft. of torque, achieving an EPA-estimated 31 MPG on the highway. Alternatively, an available 3.6L V6 engine delivers 335 horsepower and 284 lb.-ft. of torque, with an EPA-estimated 28 MPG highway when paired with the available 8-speed automatic transmission. The Camaro Convertible maintains the Coupe's precise handling thanks to modular underbody bracing. Its electronic top retracts with the touch of a button or key fob, even while driving up to 30 mph, disappearing under a hard tonneau cover.

Design Director Tom Peters describes the Camaro's design as "sheer rolling art," emphasizing the response to learnings from the previous generation and the creation of a sculptural form with tension and crisp lines.

The modern architecture features a lightweight structure, reducing weight by up to 390 lbs compared to the fifth generation. The 4-wheel independent suspension, utilizing aluminum components, contributes to a lean design and delivers a smooth ride with an excellent connection to the road. Electric Power Steering and selectable driver modes enhance the driving experience, offering nimble and controlled handling.

Camaro SS

The Camaro SS is presented as the heart and soul of Chevrolet performance, powered by a 455-hp 6.2L LT1 V8 engine that produces 455 lb.-ft. of torque, making it the most powerful Camaro SS ever. Key performance features include a 6-speed manual transmission with Active Rev Matching for smooth shifts, high-performance Brembo® 4-piston brakes capable of stopping from 60 mph in 117 feet, and available Magnetic Ride Control for enhanced handling. The available Dual-Mode Exhaust system allows drivers to adjust the V8 engine's sound through four driving modes: Tour, Sport, Track, and Snow/Ice.

Camaro 1LE

The Camaro 1LE is engineered for track-capable performance. The V6 1LE features aggressive suspension tuning and a dual-mode exhaust, delivering an estimated 0.97 g in cornering grip. It utilizes FE3 suspension components from the Camaro SS, lightweight 20-inch forged-aluminum wheels, Brembo® 4-piston front brake calipers, a limited-slip differential, and a standard track cooling package. The SS 1LE takes track performance further with a track-tuned chassis and suspension, FE4 performance chassis system, Electronic Limited-Slip Differential, Brembo 6-piston front brake calipers, and exclusive Goodyear Eagle® F1 SuperCar® summer-only tires, achieving lateral acceleration exceeding 1 g. Its aggressive styling includes a unique Satin Black hood, front splitter, and a 3-piece rear spoiler.

Camaro ZL1

Chief Engineer Al Oppenheiser describes the Camaro ZL1 as one of the most phenomenal executions of design, performance, aerodynamics, and technology. The ZL1 is the most powerful Camaro ever, featuring a 650-hp supercharged V8 engine. Customers can choose between a standard 6-speed manual transmission with Active Rev Matching or an available 10-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission. Its race-proven aerodynamics include a sculpted front fascia, carbon-fiber composite hood extractor, large outboard cooling ducts for brakes, and air splitters and a rear spoiler to create downforce. Gripping performance is delivered by standard 20-inch forged-aluminum wheels with Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperCar G:2 summer-only tires and large Brembo® 6-piston front and 4-piston rear brake calipers for impressive stopping power. The available Performance Data Recorder logs driving videos and performance data for analysis.

Interior Design

The driver-centric interior is designed for optimal driving dynamics, featuring a flat-bottom steering wheel, a precisely placed gear shifter, and aggressively bolstered seats. Premium materials are used throughout, including available heated and ventilated leather-trimmed seats. Rotating dials replace extra dash buttons for intuitive climate control. Interior spectrum lighting, standard on 2SS and ZL1 models, offers 24 selectable colors that can transition with drive modes or create an ambient glow.

Technology

The Camaro offers advanced technology to enhance the driving experience. An available 8-inch diagonal reconfigurable gauge cluster allows personalization of displayed information. The Head-Up Display (standard on 2SS and ZL1) projects key data like speed, gear selection, G-force, and navigation onto the windshield. The Chevrolet MyLink® Radio features an available customizable 8-inch diagonal color touch-screen, Bluetooth® audio streaming, and compatibility with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™. The Driver Mode Selector tailors up to eight vehicle attributes across four modes: Tour, Sport, Snow/Ice, and Track (Track mode is exclusive to SS and ZL1 models).

Camaro Six App

The Camaro Six App allows users to experience the 2017 Camaro on their smartphone or tablet. Users can explore trim levels, colors, and wheels, take 360-degree interior spins, save designs, and share them online. The app also directs users to thecamarosix.com to check out accessories and personalize their ride.

Customization and Accessories

Chevrolet offers a comprehensive range of accessories and custom features to personalize the Camaro. Options include various exterior accent colors, custom grilles, aero-shaped front splitters, and high-wing rear spoilers. The 50th Anniversary Edition also offers unique styling cues.
