Open the jack cover at the right side of the unit to access the connector panel.

Important Information about Water Resistant Operation

For proper water-resistant operation, ensure the plastic jack cover is completely flush with the unit. Press along the entire edge until it is securely in place.

The unit is splash-proof rated. DO NOT immerse the unit in water, as it may cause product failure.

Charging the Speaker

The unit has a built-in rechargeable battery that should be charged before first use. The battery charges automatically when connected to a computer or USB charging device.

Charging Process:

  1. Open the jack cover of the speaker.
  2. Connect the supplied micro-USB cable to the speaker and then to a computer.
  3. The power button light will flash during charging and turn off automatically when fully charged.

Important Notes on Charging:

Battery Life

When using a Bluetooth® connection, the speaker provides approximately 7 hours of playback time on a full charge at medium sound level. Actual playback time may vary depending on ambient temperature and usage conditions.

When the Battery is Almost Empty

The speaker will announce "Low battery," and the power button light will flash. The speaker will turn off automatically when the battery is empty.

Connection

Using the AUX Connection

Use the supplied 3.5mm to 3.5mm stereo audio cable to connect the headphone socket of an audio device to the AUX socket of the unit. The unit will automatically switch to AUX mode, and you will hear a confirmation message. Disconnect the audio cable to enable Bluetooth® mode.

General Operation

Powering ON/OFF

Automatic Power Off Function

The speaker will turn off automatically if left in any of the following conditions for more than approximately 15 minutes:

Adjusting the Volume

During playback, press the +/- buttons to increase or decrease the volume. The unit beeps when the highest volume level is reached in Bluetooth® mode.

Bluetooth® Operation

Switch on the speaker. The unit will automatically find and connect to the last paired Bluetooth® device. If no paired device is found, the speaker will enter Bluetooth® pairing mode automatically, indicated by a rapidly flashing light. Follow these steps to pair with a Bluetooth® device:

  1. Activate Bluetooth® mode on your mobile device and select the search mode. "SP-AD50-M" will appear in your device list.
  2. Select "SP-AD50-M" and enter "0000" as the password if required. A successful connection will be indicated by a steady light and a "Connected" voice prompt.
  3. To disconnect the Bluetooth® function, press and hold the Button to disable it from your Bluetooth® device. The device will disconnect after a "Waiting for connection" voice prompt.

NFC (Near Field Communication) Operation

Pair your NFC-enabled mobile device directly with this unit by a single tap.

  1. Activate NFC on your mobile device.
  2. Hold your mobile device within 1.5 cm of the NFC icon on the unit. The device will vibrate or display a message.
  3. To disconnect, hold the mobile device near the NFC icon to disconnect or disable NFC.

Listening to Music

Bluetooth® Mode

Enjoy music and basic remote control operation of a Bluetooth® device via a Bluetooth® connection. The device must support the following Bluetooth® profiles:

AUX Mode

When connected via the AUX socket, the output from the connected device has priority. You will not hear sound from the Bluetooth® device. The Button light will switch off, and the unit will announce "AUX music". Absence of sound from the Bluetooth® device does not indicate a system issue. Press the Button to mute or resume sound during playback.

Hands-free Calling

Enjoy hands-free calls with a Bluetooth® smartphone or mobile phone supporting the HFP (Hands-free Profile) or HSP (Headset Profile) via a Bluetooth® connection. Call functions are only applicable if the mobile phone is paired and connected, and both devices are switched on.

Functionality may vary depending on the Bluetooth® profile supported by your smartphone or mobile phone. Refer to your device's manual for specifics.

Making a Call

  1. Activate Bluetooth® mode on your mobile device.
  2. Use your mobile device's buttons to make a call.

If the caller has difficulty hearing you, press the +/- button to adjust the volume or speak closer to the speaker's microphone.

Redial

Press the Button twice rapidly to redial the last call.

End Call

Press the Button on the speaker to hang up. You can also end the call from your phone.

Receiving a Call

When an incoming call arrives, a ring tone will be heard through the speaker. Press the Button on the speaker to answer. The built-in microphone allows conversation with the caller.

Reject an Incoming Call

Press the +/- button once on the speaker to reject an incoming call.

Hints and Tips

If a problem occurs, it may be minor. The following table provides troubleshooting tips. For additional assistance:

Problem Solution
No power.
  • The battery may be exhausted. Connect the USB cable and plug into a powered USB port.
  • Ensure the unit is switched on.
No Sound.
  • Ensure the unit is switched on.
  • Check the volume level of the unit.
  • Check the sound input source.
Sound is distorted.
  • Volume is too high. Adjust the volume control.
Not charging.
  • Ensure the micro-USB charging cable is correctly connected.
I cannot find "SP-AD50-M" on my Bluetooth® device.
  • Ensure the unit is switched on.
  • Ensure the Bluetooth® function is activated on your device.
  • The unit can receive signals within 10 metres. Keep within this range.
  • Ensure no obstructions between the unit and your Bluetooth® device.
Voice interrupted in Bluetooth® mode.
  • Ensure the unit and Bluetooth® device are connected within 10 metres.
  • Ensure no obstruction between the unit and the Bluetooth® device.
NFC Pairing failed.
  • Ensure the Bluetooth® device supports NFC function.
  • Ensure the unit is in pairing mode.
  • For first-time pairing, ensure the Bluetooth® device touches the NFC sensor of the unit.
  • Remove any mobile phone protection shell for NFC pairing.
No Sound in AUX mode.
  • Ensure the audio cable is properly connected.
The unit does not respond when pressing any buttons.
  • The unit may freeze. Switch it off and on again to reset.
  • Press the reset button, then press the Button on the unit again.
