Safety Information
Please read and understand this entire manual before attempting to assemble, operate, or install the product.
- Check available power supply and resolve any wiring problems BEFORE installation and operation. All wiring must comply with local and national electrical codes and be installed by a qualified electrician.
- This appliance draws 7.5 amps and may be used in any properly wired general purpose 15 amp household grounded receptacle.
- For your safety, this unit is grounded through the power cord plug when plugged into a matching wall outlet. Consult a qualified electrician if unsure about grounding.
DANGER
- Do not leave this unit unattended in a space where people or animals that cannot react to a failed unit are located. A failed unit can cause extreme overheating or death in such an enclosed, unattended space.
WARNING
- Improper connection of the grounding plug can result in risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury. Check with a qualified service representative if in doubt.
- DO NOT USE PLUG ADAPTERS OR EXTENSION CORDS WITH THIS UNIT. If an extension cord is necessary, use an approved "air conditioner" extension cord only.
Safety Precautions:
- DO NOT pull on the power cord to avoid breakage or injury.
- DO NOT use insect repellent, spray oil, or spray paint around the machine, as these products might cause damage or start a fire.
- DO NOT place the unit on uneven ground to avoid shaking, noise, and water leakage.
- Always keep the unit 8 inches or more from the wall to dissipate heat properly.
- DO NOT drop anything into the machine.
- Close all windows to allow for maximum efficiency or removal of moisture.
- Keep the machine away from any type of heat source.
- When moving or storing, do not place the dehumidifier on its side or upside down, and avoid shaking it.
Operating Instructions
Features of the Control Panel:
- 1) POWER Button: On / Off
- 2) FAN SPEED Button: High / Medium / Low
- 3) TIMER: Auto turn on / Auto turn off
- 4) TIMER / HUMIDITY Set
- 5) Filter Timer: Indicator light glows after 250 hours of operation to remind you to clean the filter. Press to turn off the light.
- 6) DISPLAY:
- HUMIDITY DISPLAY: Shows current humidity. Press "+" or "-" to select humidity setting (30%-90% RH in 5% increments).
- TIMER SET DISPLAY: Shows timer setting for auto turn off (when unit is operating) or auto turn on (when unit is in stand-by).
- 7) BUCKET FULL LIGHT: Illuminates when the water tank is full.
- 8) DEFROST LIGHT: Illuminates when the unit enters defrost mode due to low temperature.
Start Operation:
- Place the product upright on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface, with at least 39 inches of clearance.
- Insert the plug into a suitable wall socket.
- Ensure the water tank is correctly located. If the "Bucket Full" light illuminates, remove and re-seat the tank, ensuring the float lever moves freely.
Water Full Indicator Light (RED):
The red light turns on when the water tank is full or incorrectly positioned. This shuts down the dehumidifying system. The unit will resume operation automatically once the tank is emptied and/or correctly re-positioned. It may take several minutes for operation to resume.
Bucket Full Light:
The machine stops and the "Bucket Full" light illuminates when the water tank is full. Remove the tank carefully, empty it, and replace it properly. The unit will start up and run normally.
Factory Default Setting:
Humidity Setting: 60%, Fan Speed: Low. In case of power failure, the unit defaults to the last program setting used when power is restored.
Water Tank Operation:
The water tank holds accumulated condensed water and controls the dehumidification process via a safety switch. If the tank is full or displaced, the float switch actuator interrupts contact with the safety switch, shutting down the compressor and fan motor. Never tamper with the water level float switch system.
Defrost:
When operating at temperatures below 64.4°F (18°C), frost may accumulate on the evaporator, reducing efficiency. The machine will enter periodic defrost mode. It operates in temperatures down to 41°F (5°C). If the machine freezes, turn it off at the power supply and restart. If the room temperature remains below 41°F, switch off the machine.
Dehumidifying Mode Selection:
- Press the ON/OFF button.
- Press the humidity button to select desired RH (30%-90%).
- Select fan speed. The selected speed is indicated by an illuminated light above the selection.
Air Filter:
The removable air filter is located at the back of the unit, above the water tank compartment. A blocked filter reduces air intake and negatively impacts operating efficiency.
After 250 hours of operation, the indicator light will glow to remind you to clean the filter. Remove and clean the filter, then press to turn off the light. Never operate the unit without the air filter in place.
Air Filter Cleaning Steps:
- Gently pull out the air filter.
- Clean the filter with a vacuum cleaner or wash it with clean water and dry with a soft cloth.
- Replace the clean air filter and continue operating the dehumidifier.
Installing PVC Drain Hose:
To avoid periodically emptying the water tank, this unit can be configured for continuous drain using a garden hose.
- Unscrew and remove the drain cover at the rear of the unit.
- Remove the soft rubber stopper from the water tank for safekeeping.
- Ensure the rubber seal ring is properly seated in the end of the hose.
- Connect the garden hose to the drain port.
- Tighten the garden hose clockwise onto the rear of the unit.
- Place the bucket in its original location.
Continuous Drain Using the Pump (Item #0526051 only):
The pump system allows water removal up to 16 ft in height.
Installation:
- Insert the drain hose fitting into the drain pump connector on the back of the dehumidifier.
- Ensure the drain hose fitting has snapped into position.
Dismantle:
To remove the drain hose, turn the knob 45 degrees clockwise and pull the hose fitting away from the drain pump connector.
Care and Maintenance
Cleaning:
CAUTION: Always disconnect the power supply cord before cleaning or servicing.
- DO NOT use gasoline, benzene, paint thinner, or other chemicals, as they can damage plastic components and finish.
- Never pour water directly onto any surface area, as this can cause deterioration of electrical components and wiring insulation.
- Use only mild dishwashing detergent, lukewarm water, and a soft cloth to clean the exterior surface and dry thoroughly.
Storage:
When the dehumidifier is not used for extended periods:
- Disconnect the power cord.
- Empty and thoroughly dry the water tank.
- Clean the air filter thoroughly.
- Re-package the unit in its original carton.
- Store the unit upright in a dry location.
