3. Hardw are Installation
This sect ion will guide you t o inst all t he swit ch t hrough hardware connect ion and conf igure t he swit ch' s set t ings t hrough web browser. Bef ore st art ing t o conf igure t he swit ch, you have t o connect your devices correct ly.
3.1 Netw ork Connection Allowance for connecting Non-PoE devices and PoE devices
Here, we t ake VigorSwit ch P2540xs as an example. Use a Cat . 5e t wist ed-pair cable t o connect a PoE device t o t he port (1~48)
of t his swit ch. The swit ch will supply power t o PoE Device over t he t wist ed-pair cable. Please not e t hat Power Device must comply wit h IEEE 802. 3af / at . Ot her PCs, servers and net work devices can be connect ed t o t he swit ch using
a st andard ` st raight t hrough' t wist ed pair cable.
Allowance for connecting Non-PoE devices
Here, we t ake VigorSwit ch G2540xs as an example. Use t he Et hernet cable(s) t o connect None-PoE devices t o t he Vigor swit ch. All device port s are in t he same local area net work.

3 .2 Ra c k -M ount e d I nst a lla t ion
The swit ch can be inst alled easily by using rack mount kit. 1. Fast en t he rack mount kit on bot h sides of t he VigorSwit ch using specif ic
scr ew s.
2. Then, inst all t he VigorSwit ch (wit h rack mount kit ) on t he 19-inch chassis by using ot her f our screws.
Here, we t ake VigorSwit ch P2540xs as an example.

4. Softw are Configuration
Bef ore using t he swit ch, perf orm t he f ollowing st eps:
1. Set up a physical pat h bet ween t he conf igured t he swit ch and a PC by a qualif ied UTP Cat . 5e cable wit h RJ-45 connect or.
If a PC direct ly connect s t o t he swit ch, you have t o set up t he same subnet mask f or PC and t he swit ch. Def ault values of t he managed swit ch are list ed as f ollows:

2. Af t er conf iguring correct IP address on your PC, open your web browser and access swit ch's IP address.
3. Please ent er " admin/ admin" as t he Username/ Password and click Login.

4. Next , a page will appear t o guide you change t he login password. You MUST change t he login password bef ore accessing t he web user int erf ace. Please click OK.
5. Please set a new password wit h t he highest level of st rengt h f or net work securit y.
6. Click OK t o proceed. You will t hen be prompt ed t o log in wit h t he new password. Af t erward, t he VigorSwit ch home page will be displayed.
