Cerwin Vega Mobile VS12SH Passive Spare Tire Shallow Subwoofer

Introduction

Thank you for purchasing a Cerwin Vega Mobile Passive Shallow Spare Tire Subwoofer for your car audio system. Cerwin Vega Mobile products are designed and engineered to the highest quality standards to create the ultimate listening experience in your vehicle.

For optimal performance, it is highly recommended that your new subwoofer be installed by an authorized Cerwin Vega Mobile dealer. Authorized dealers possess the necessary experience and equipment to ensure maximum performance and can explain warranty coverage details.

If you choose to install the subwoofer yourself, please read this manual thoroughly before starting. This manual will familiarize you with the subwoofer and guide you through the installation process.

Installation

This installation is designed to be very simple and can fit into virtually any car made in the last 10 years, WITHOUT removing your spare tire. Follow these instructions for a straightforward installation.

Step 1: Remove Trunk Liner

Remove the trunk liner. Typically, it is not screwed or bolted down and should simply pull out. (See Figure 1: Trunk Liner Removal). The trunk shown is a hatchback, but coupes or sedans should be almost identical.

Step 2: Spare Tire Orientation

Once the trunk liner is removed and you have access to your spare tire, note its orientation: deep side down or deep side up.

If your spare tire is Deep Side UP: You need to unbolt it and flip it over so the VS12SH can sit inside it. (See Figure 2: Flipping Spare Tire).

If your spare tire is Deep Side DOWN: You simply need to unbolt the spare tire and place the VS12SH inside it so it can sit within the tire's recess. (See Figure 3: Spare Tire Placement).

Step 3: Mounting Bolt Check

Check the size of the mounting bolt. The VS12SH comes with both an 8mm and a 10mm mounting bolt, which should fit approximately 90% of all vehicles currently on the market. (See Figure 4: Mounting Bolts).

Step 4: Spare Tire with ABS Nut (Audi/VW Typically)

Some vehicles have a different spare tire mounting system, often featuring a large nut and a bolt through the center of the spare tire. If your vehicle has this system:

1. Thoroughly clean the spare tire mounting area.
2. Replace the original spare tire ABS fixing nut with the supplied Cerwin Vega replacement ABS nut. (See Figure 5: ABS Nut Replacement).

Step 5: Connecting Wiring Harness

With the VS12SH mounted in the spare tire area, plug the speaker wire connector into the port located in the handle area of the enclosure.

Product Registration: Registering your new product offers benefits such as important product notifications, confirmation of ownership for loss or theft, and knowledgeable customer service and technical assistance. Register by filling out the Product and Warranty Registration card or online at www.cerwinvegamobile.com. Registration is voluntary and does not affect your limited warranty rights.

Limited Warranty (U.S.A.): Cerwin Vega Mobile warrants all amplifiers and speakers to be free of defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of purchase. This warranty is non-transferable and applies only to the original purchaser from an authorized Cerwin Vega Mobile dealer.

Under warranty, Cerwin Vega Mobile will repair and/or replace defective products with new or remanufactured like products at no charge, at their discretion, due to manufacturing defects or malfunction.

Warranty Exclusions: This warranty does not cover damage caused by abuse, accident, misuse, neglect, modifications, attempted repairs, seller/installer misrepresentation, incidental or consequential damage, cosmetic damage due to accidents, normal wear and tear, or the cost of product removal or reinstallation.

The warranty is void if the product's serial number has been removed, defaced, or tampered with.

Warranty Procedure: Initiate all warranty claims by contacting your original authorized Cerwin Vega Mobile dealer. Dealers can guide you through the process for timely claim processing. All warranty returns must include proof of purchase (original sales receipt copy) and be shipped freight prepaid to the Cerwin Vega Mobile facility with a Return Authorization (RA) number clearly marked on the package. Direct returns from consumers or non-authorized dealers without a valid RA number will be refused.

International: Products purchased outside the U.S.A. are covered only by that country's distributor, not by Cerwin Vega Mobile U.S.A.
