Volkswagen Golf Sportsvan: The Update
Barcelona, November 2017
Great Flexibility
The Golf Sportsvan is one of the most flexible and spacious cars in the compact class. With its elevated seating position and a rear seating system with longitudinal adjustment, the Sportsvan offers interior properties that are otherwise usually found only in a traditional van. This Golf appeals to drivers who like to sit a little higher, travel with children, want flexibility for leisure activities, and value a compact Volkswagen with ample stowage space. An update has sharpened the design and features of this all-rounder, while Volkswagen has also updated its drive, assistance, and infotainment systems.

Interior Concept and Flexibility Comparison
The Golf Sportsvan offers a higher seating position than the Golf and Golf Variant, reminiscent of a compact van. The 1,613 mm high Sportsvan (including roof rails) provides more headroom. Its seat configuration includes an independently designed, higher dash panel for clear visibility and reach of instruments and infotainment.
First Seat Row
Front seating positions are higher, from 573 to 633 mm above the road, compared to 488 to 574 mm for the Golf and Golf Variant.
Second Seat Row
Rear passengers benefit from a higher seating position (619 mm above the road, versus 535 mm in the Golf). The rear bench seat features a 60:40 split, longitudinal adjustment (up to 180 mm) for legroom or cargo space, tilt adjustment, and can be folded completely. A wide ski flap opening is available behind the centre armrest. Fold-down tables are built into the backs of the front seats (from Comfortline).
Luggage Compartment
The Golf Sportsvan's wheelbase is lengthened by 50 mm to 2,670 mm, enhancing interior length and flexibility. Its overall length is 4,351 mm. The Sportsvan offers a maximum cargo capacity of 590 litres (loaded to rear seatback height), comparable to the Golf Variant (605 litres). When loaded up to the front seats, cargo volume increases to 1,520 litres (Variant: 1,620 litres). The traditional Golf has capacities of 380 and 1,270 litres.
