Cabinet and Electrical Placement

Diagrams illustrate the placement of electrical connections and the overall cabinet and hood dimensions for 22" and 24" Deep Pro Series Wall Hoods.

Step 1: Install Ductwork

WARNING: Use only metal ductwork to reduce the risk of fire.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

Ductwork runs between the hood and the outside. Wolf hoods can discharge vertically or horizontally. For rear discharge, specific models and blower combinations apply (see notes for details).

When not using a remote blower, install a roof or wall cap. Connect 8" (203 mm) round metal ductwork for 22" hoods or 10" (254 mm) for 24" hoods. Seal all joints with duct tape.

Wolf wall hoods include a back-draft damper; an additional one is not required.

Step 2: Wall Preparation

WARNING: Framing must be structurally tied together and to ceiling joists to provide sufficient strength to support the hood and internal blower.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

Construct wood wall framing flush with the interior surface of wall studs, centered over the installation location. Use the provided rough-in plate to determine framing. After wall surface is finished, secure the hood to the wall. Additional mounting holes can be drilled if needed.

Mounting Hole Locations: Diagrams are provided for 22" and 24" Deep Wall Hoods.

Step 3: Hood Preparation

If using an internal blower, refer to Internal Blower Installation (page 2-15). If using a duct cover, refer to duct cover installation (page 2-17).

The hood assembly is shipped with the rough-in plate and transition attached. Remove and reinstall the transition. Detach the rough-in plate/transition from the hood assembly and then detach the transition from the rough-in plate. Save shipping screws for reinstallation.

Determine the discharge direction (vertical or horizontal) and rotate the back panel accordingly. Note: Rear discharge has specific model and blower requirements.

Use the rough-in plate to mark mounting holes on the wall. If wall frame is not available, use wall anchors.

Re-attach the rough-in plate/transition assembly to the hood shell. If installing a remote blower, drill a 7/8" (22 mm) hole for conduit wires. Do not run remote blower wiring through ductwork.

For internal blower installation (WBLOWER-90INT or WBLOWER-120INT), follow specific guidelines.

Step 4: Install the Hood

WARNING: Several people may be required for safe installation due to hood weight.

Align the hood assembly with the marked location. Install #10 x 2" (59 mm) screws through the rough-in plate mounting holes. Attach the transition to existing ductwork using sheet metal screws and seal with duct tape or silicone.

If additional mounting holes are needed, drill them in the rough-in plate and use them to attach the hood assembly to the wall framing.

Proceed to Step 6: Install Wiring, and Step 7: Install Hood Filters and Drip Cups.

Step 6: Install Wiring

WARNING: Ventilation hoods must be properly grounded. Electrical connections must be made by a qualified electrician according to all applicable codes.

WARNING: Switch power off at the service panel before servicing or cleaning.

CAUTION: Do not remove the control knob bezel to access wiring.

Run a 115 VAC, 15 amp circuit cable from the service panel to the junction box in the rough-in plate. Remove the knock-out and install a conduit connector. Feed the conduit through the hole to the junction box. Connect black wire to black, white to white, and green to green/bare wire. Secure all connections inside the junction box.

Refer to the wiring diagram provided with the hood for more information.

Assemble the blower housing to the blower rough-in plate. Attach the blower assembly to the hood rough-in plate assembly using the provided nuts. Verify blower discharge alignment with the hood's back-plate discharge cutout.

Secure the power cord(s) to prevent pinching during installation. Plug blower power cord(s) into receptacles near the center of the hood shell. Use clips to manage excess cord.

Remote Blower Installation

IMPORTANT NOTE: Ensure the blower is in the "OFF" position before powering on. Use UL or C/UL approved wire connectors.

STEP 1: Plan the Installation

Locate the blower to minimize duct run length and the number of elbows/transitions. Ideally, place between wall studs or roof rafters. Avoid existing pipes, wires, or ductwork. Ensure adequate space for transitions.

STEP 2: Connect Remote Blower

Refer to blower installation instructions for mounting and wiring. Remove the wiring box cover and knockout. Feed the inbound power cable through the knockout and secure it. Connect leads: Black (L1) to black, Neutral to neutral.

Wiring Remote Blower: Follow specific blower instructions. Connect wires (e.g., Black to black, White to white/blue/brown, Green to ground screw). Run remote blower cable (ROMEX) to the hood. Feed 6" (152 mm) of ROMEX through the knockout and secure it. Connect the cord assembly leads (black to black, white to white) and all green/bare wires to the ground screw.

Plug the cord assembly into the receptacle and use clips to manage excess cord.

Re-install the wiring box cover, ensuring all wires are secure and not pinched.

Remote Blower Dimensions: Provided for 600 CFM (801640), 900 CFM (801641), 1200 CFM (801642), and 1500 CFM (804701) models.
