Wolf Pro Series Ventilation Installation Information
Installation Considerations for 22" (559 mm) & 24" (610 mm) Deep Wall Hoods
This guide provides specifications and preparations for installing Wolf Pro Series Deep Wall Hoods.
Key Installation Points:
- Duct Run: Opt for a straight, short duct run for optimal performance. Minimize elbows and transitions.
- Exhaust: All hoods must exhaust to the outdoors.
- Noise: Short duct runs combined with remote blowers may cause noise issues.
- Ducting Material: Always use metal ducting; avoid flex ducting.
- Back-Draft Damper: A back-draft damper is included and recommended for all installations, especially in cold weather to prevent cold air backflow.
- Mounting Height: Wolf recommends installing the hood 30" (762 mm) to 36" (914 mm) above the cooking surface.
- Make-up Air: Local building codes may require make-up air; consult a local HVAC professional.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire and electric shock, this rangehood should only be installed with Wolf Appliance Co. manufactured blowers (Model Numbers 801640, 801641, 801642, 804701, 804702, or 805086).
Installation Dimensions: Detailed diagrams and charts are provided for 22" and 24" Deep Pro Series Wall Hoods, including dimensions for ductwork transitions and overall hood placement.
Cabinet and Electrical Placement
Diagrams illustrate the placement of electrical connections and the overall cabinet and hood dimensions for 22" and 24" Deep Pro Series Wall Hoods.
Step 1: Install Ductwork
WARNING: Use only metal ductwork to reduce the risk of fire.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- All hoods must exhaust outdoors.
- Do not use duct smaller than 8" (203 mm) in diameter.
Ductwork runs between the hood and the outside. Wolf hoods can discharge vertically or horizontally. For rear discharge, specific models and blower combinations apply (see notes for details).
When not using a remote blower, install a roof or wall cap. Connect 8" (203 mm) round metal ductwork for 22" hoods or 10" (254 mm) for 24" hoods. Seal all joints with duct tape.
Wolf wall hoods include a back-draft damper; an additional one is not required.
Step 2: Wall Preparation
WARNING: Framing must be structurally tied together and to ceiling joists to provide sufficient strength to support the hood and internal blower.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- Do not use duct smaller than 8" (203 mm) in diameter.
- Wolf recommends installation between 30" (762 mm) and 36" (914 mm) above the cooking surface.
Construct wood wall framing flush with the interior surface of wall studs, centered over the installation location. Use the provided rough-in plate to determine framing. After wall surface is finished, secure the hood to the wall. Additional mounting holes can be drilled if needed.
Mounting Hole Locations: Diagrams are provided for 22" and 24" Deep Wall Hoods.
Step 3: Hood Preparation
If using an internal blower, refer to Internal Blower Installation (page 2-15). If using a duct cover, refer to duct cover installation (page 2-17).
The hood assembly is shipped with the rough-in plate and transition attached. Remove and reinstall the transition. Detach the rough-in plate/transition from the hood assembly and then detach the transition from the rough-in plate. Save shipping screws for reinstallation.
Determine the discharge direction (vertical or horizontal) and rotate the back panel accordingly. Note: Rear discharge has specific model and blower requirements.
Use the rough-in plate to mark mounting holes on the wall. If wall frame is not available, use wall anchors.
Re-attach the rough-in plate/transition assembly to the hood shell. If installing a remote blower, drill a 7/8" (22 mm) hole for conduit wires. Do not run remote blower wiring through ductwork.
For internal blower installation (WBLOWER-90INT or WBLOWER-120INT), follow specific guidelines.
Step 4: Install the Hood
WARNING: Several people may be required for safe installation due to hood weight.
Align the hood assembly with the marked location. Install #10 x 2" (59 mm) screws through the rough-in plate mounting holes. Attach the transition to existing ductwork using sheet metal screws and seal with duct tape or silicone.
If additional mounting holes are needed, drill them in the rough-in plate and use them to attach the hood assembly to the wall framing.
Proceed to Step 6: Install Wiring, and Step 7: Install Hood Filters and Drip Cups.
Step 6: Install Wiring
WARNING: Ventilation hoods must be properly grounded. Electrical connections must be made by a qualified electrician according to all applicable codes.
WARNING: Switch power off at the service panel before servicing or cleaning.
CAUTION: Do not remove the control knob bezel to access wiring.
Run a 115 VAC, 15 amp circuit cable from the service panel to the junction box in the rough-in plate. Remove the knock-out and install a conduit connector. Feed the conduit through the hole to the junction box. Connect black wire to black, white to white, and green to green/bare wire. Secure all connections inside the junction box.
Refer to the wiring diagram provided with the hood for more information.
Electrical Placement Diagrams: Provided for 22", 24", and 27" Wall Hoods.
Internal Blower Installation
IMPORTANT NOTE: Ensure the blower is in the "OFF" position before powering on. Use UL or C/UL approved wire connectors.
Wolf recommends installing the internal blower to the rough-in plate assembly before installing the hood to the wall framing.
Assemble the blower housing to the blower rough-in plate. Attach the blower assembly to the hood rough-in plate assembly using the provided nuts. Verify blower discharge alignment with the hood's back-plate discharge cutout.
Secure the power cord(s) to prevent pinching during installation. Plug blower power cord(s) into receptacles near the center of the hood shell. Use clips to manage excess cord.
Remote Blower Installation
IMPORTANT NOTE: Ensure the blower is in the "OFF" position before powering on. Use UL or C/UL approved wire connectors.
STEP 1: Plan the Installation
Locate the blower to minimize duct run length and the number of elbows/transitions. Ideally, place between wall studs or roof rafters. Avoid existing pipes, wires, or ductwork. Ensure adequate space for transitions.
STEP 2: Connect Remote Blower
Refer to blower installation instructions for mounting and wiring. Remove the wiring box cover and knockout. Feed the inbound power cable through the knockout and secure it. Connect leads: Black (L1) to black, Neutral to neutral.
Wiring Remote Blower: Follow specific blower instructions. Connect wires (e.g., Black to black, White to white/blue/brown, Green to ground screw). Run remote blower cable (ROMEX) to the hood. Feed 6" (152 mm) of ROMEX through the knockout and secure it. Connect the cord assembly leads (black to black, white to white) and all green/bare wires to the ground screw.
Plug the cord assembly into the receptacle and use clips to manage excess cord.
Re-install the wiring box cover, ensuring all wires are secure and not pinched.
Remote Blower Dimensions: Provided for 600 CFM (801640), 900 CFM (801641), 1200 CFM (801642), and 1500 CFM (804701) models.
Duct Cover Installation
CAUTION: Installing a duct cover affects hood installation aspects like location, ducting, and electrical placement.
Install the duct cover to the ceiling before hood installation using provided lag screws. Install additional screws for support along the top edge. Attach the duct cover to the hood assembly using bolts and self-tapping screws.
Install Filters and Drip Cups
Remove packaging from filters and drip cups. Slide drip cups into place along the bottom edge of the hood opening. Lift filters into place, ensuring they run vertically and align with drip cups. Adjust filters for a snug fit.
Logo Application
The logo is not pre-applied. To apply the logo:
- Decide on logo location.
- Clean the area with rubbing alcohol.
- If desired, cut out the provided template.
- Fold the template, position it on the hood, and tape it in place.
- Check alignment and adjust.
- Remove the backing paper from the logo.
- Position the logo in the template cutout and press firmly.
- Remove the template and any tape residue.
Installation Considerations for All Pro Series Island Hoods
This section details installation for Wolf Pro Series Island Hoods.
Key Installation Points:
- Duct Run: Similar to wall hoods, a straight, short duct run is recommended.
- Exhaust: All hoods must exhaust outdoors.
- Noise: Short duct runs with remote blowers may cause noise.

Cabinet and Electrical Placement for All Pro Series Island Hoods

Pro Series Hood Liner Installation
This section covers the installation of Wolf Pro Series Hood Liners.
Step 1: Install Ductwork
WARNING: Use only metal ductwork.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- All hoods must exhaust outdoors.
- Duct size requirements vary by model (8" for L282212, 10" for others).
Ductwork runs between the liner and the outside. Liners must discharge vertically. Install a roof or wall cap and connect appropriate size metal ductwork. Seal joints with duct tape.
Wolf hood liners include a back-draft damper.
Installation Dimensions: Charts and illustrations provide critical dimensions for hood liners.
Step 2: Wall Preparation
WARNING: Framing must be structurally sound.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- Duct size requirements are noted.
- Installation height: 30" (762 mm) to 36" (914 mm) above the cooking surface.
Construct wood wall framing, use the rough-in plate to determine location, and secure the hood liner to the wall surface. Additional mounting holes may be drilled.
Mounting Hole Locations: Diagrams provided for Model L282212 and other models.
Step 3: Hood Liner Preparation
If using an internal blower, refer to Internal Blower Installation (page 2-35).
The hood liner assembly ships with the rough-in plate and transition attached. Remove and reinstall the transition. Detach the rough-in plate/transition from the liner assembly and detach the transition from the rough-in plate, saving shipping screws.
Attach the transition to existing ductwork with sheet metal screws, sealing with duct tape or silicone.
For remote blower installation, drill a 7/8" (22 mm) hole for conduit wires. Do not run wiring through ductwork.
For internal blower installation (LBLOWER-120INT), follow specific guidelines.
Step 4: Install the Rough-In Plate
Use the rough-in plate to determine stud locations. Install #10 x 1" (25 mm) screws into wall framing. If wall frame is not available, use wall anchors. Drill additional holes if needed for support.
Step 5: Install the Hood Liner
WARNING: Several people may be required for safe installation.
Align the hood liner assembly with the rough-in plate. Insert the back ends into the rough-in plate and push toward the wall. Secure the liner assembly to the rough-in plate using the provided hex nuts. Install remaining #10 x 2" (51 mm) screws in the lower section, verifying wall stud engagement. Use wall anchors if studs are not engaged.
Step 6: Install Wiring
WARNING: Hood liners must be properly grounded. Electrical connections must be made by a qualified electrician.
WARNING: Switch power off at the service panel before servicing or cleaning.
CAUTION: Do not remove the control knob bezel to access wiring.
Run a 115 VAC, 15 amp circuit cable from the service panel to the junction box in the rough-in plate. Remove the knock-out and install a conduit connector. Feed conduit through the hole to the junction box. Connect wires (black to black, white to white, green to green/bare). Place all connections inside the junction box and re-install the cover.

Hood Liner Electrical Placement: Diagram provided.
Internal Blower Installation
IMPORTANT NOTE: Ensure blower is "OFF" before powering on. Use approved wire connectors.
Wolf recommends installing the internal blower to the rough-in plate before installing the hood liner.
Assemble blower housing to the blower rough-in plate, sliding the tab into the liner rough-in plate slot. Secure with 1/4-20 weld stud and 1/4 nut. Verify blower discharge alignment.
Install the liner rough-in plate to the wall, securing power cords. Plug blower power cords into receptacles and use clips to manage excess cord.
Install Filters and Drip Cups
Remove packaging. Slide drip cups into place. Lift filters into place, aligning with drip cups. Adjust filters for a snug fit.
