SilverRing Splint Guide

SilverRing Splint: Adjusting, Care, and Repair Guide

Adjusting PVX MCP & Stable Thumb Splints

Without tools, bend the PVX closer or farther from the palm to provide support under the joint and block collapsing. The PVX may need to be twisted for more even pressure. If the PVX cannot be adjusted by the therapist, return to SilverRing™ Splint for assistance.

The Spoon PVX offers more directional support, while the U PVX avoids direct pressure.

Care Instructions

SilverRing™ Splints are crafted from sterling silver, an alloy composed of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper. Sterling silver contains NO nickel. Clean these splints as you would any other sterling silver products.

Tarnish can occur due to reactions with body chemistry, medications, hand lotions, zinc oxide, or exposure to chemicals found in hot tubs or pools. Foods such as eggs, onions, and some shellfish can also cause a reaction. For individuals who are regularly in constant contact with such chemicals, 14k Gold is an available option.

Repairs, Reshapes, and Returns

Bent or misshapen splints can be reshaped, with pricing based on labor. Broken PVX splints can be repaired. Cracked or broken splints should be replaced. Standard splints may be returned if they are still new. If adjustment does not resolve the issue, place the splint(s) in a box for return. Write the necessary changes directly on the back of the invoice or packing slip. A return authorization is not required, but please include your phone number and email address.

Adjusting Splint Fit

Making the Splint Fit Larger

To increase the splint size by approximately one size, decrease the angle between the rings. Place the splint on a flat surface and, using even pressure, bend the rings closer together. Make small adjustments and check the fit after each adjustment. Squeezing the rings together loosens the splint's fit, which can help a finger achieve a neutral position if the splint was holding it in a slightly bent position.

Making the Splint Fit Smaller

To decrease the splint size by approximately one size, increase the angle between the rings. Place the splint on a flat surface and, using even pressure, bend the rings further apart. Make small adjustments and check the fit after each adjustment. Spreading the rings apart tightens the splint's fit, which can help hold a finger in a slightly bent position and may prevent locking or clicking in the joint.

Adjusting the Bracelet

For MCP & Stable Thumb Splints: Use a twisty tie or string for temporary bracelet adjustments. After trialing the length, a local jeweler can also adjust the bracelet, which does NOT void the warranty. Links cannot be added back after adjustment. Bracelets can also be permanently adjusted at no cost by SilverRing™ Splint.

Bracelets can be worn in multiple ways and should be trialed before final adjustment. If a patient wishes to crisscross the bracelet, a longer length can be requested at no cost.
