Please read and understand this entire manual before attempting to assemble, operate or install your air conditioner. Use this unit only as instructed in this manual. Caution and common sense are to be practiced when installing, operating or maintaining your unit.

Electrical Information

WARNING: The power cord with this air conditioner contains a current detection device designed to reduce the risk of fire. Please refer to the section “operation of current device” for details. In the event that the power cord is damaged, it cannot be repaired. It must be replaced with a power cord from the product manufacturer.

Power Cord with 3-Prong Grounding Plug and Current Detection Device: Do not under any circumstances cut, remove, or bypass the grounding prong.

Operation of Current Device

The power cord contains a current device that senses damage to the power cord. To test your power cord, do the following:

  1. Plug in the Air Conditioner.
  2. The power cord has TWO buttons on the 3-Prong Grounding Plug. Press the TEST button. You will notice a click as the RESET button pops out.
  3. Press the RESET button, and you will hear a click as the button engages.
  4. The power cord is now supplying electricity to the unit. (On some products this is also indicated by a light on the 3-Prong Grounding Plug).

Before You Begin

CAUTION: When handling the unit be careful to avoid cuts from any sharp metal edges and the aluminum fins on the front / rear coils.

IMPORTANT: Save these instructions for future reference. Product failure due to any improper installation is not covered under the One Year Limited Warranty.

IMPORTANT: You MUST use the parts provided for installation as well as proper installation procedures as described in this manual when installing this Portable Air Conditioner.

Selection of Installation Location

Installing the unit in the following places can be dangerous and may cause malfunction:

  1. Areas with strong heat sources, vapors, flammable or explosive gas, sulfated gas or volatile objects spread in the air.
  2. Near high-frequency devices such as welding machines, medical equipment, etc.

Cord Hook Installation

  1. Install the Cord Hooks at the back of the unit with 2 screws. The top Cord Hook should face upward, and the bottom Cord Hook should face downward. [Diagram showing cord hook installation]

Note: Do not plug this unit in until exhaust hose is properly installed.

Drainage Pipe Installation

NOTE: Use the continuous drainage option from the bottom hole. Install the drainage pipe before using, otherwise poor drainage will affect the unit.

  1. Remove the Rubber Plug at the Drainage Port, and fix the Pipe Clip on the right rear side of the unit near the Drainage Port. Fix the Pipe Clip with a Screw. [Diagram showing pipe clip and screw installation]
  2. Put the Drainage Pipe into the Drainage Port, and tighten the Screw. Then bind with a Pipe Hook. Put the Rubber Plug into the other side of the Drainage Pipe, connect it with the Pipe Hook, and then connect it with the Pipe Clip. Vertical Double Hung Window Installation

  1. Step 1: A) Insert Exhaust Nozzle into Window Panel. B) Attach Protective Guard onto Window Panel with 2 Screws. [Diagram of steps 1A and 1B]
  2. Step 2: A) Attach the Support on the outer side of the Window Panel with 2 Bolts, 2 Washers, 2 Spring Washers, 2 Nuts in this order. B) Attach the Rain Shield on top of the Support with 2 Bolts, 2 Washers, 2 Spring Washers, 2 Nuts in this order. [Diagram of steps 2A and 2B]
  3. Step 3: Open the window and measure the width inside the window frame.
    • A) For windows with inner width of 20.5" (52.07 cm)
    • B) For windows with inner width over 20.5” (52.07 cm) up to 38.5" (98 cm) insert Adjustment Panel
    • C) For windows with inner width over 38.5” (98 cm) up to 56.7” (144 cm) insert Adjustment Panel and Extension Panel. [Diagram showing window measurement and panel insertion]
  4. Step 4: Cut the Foam with Adhesive to fit length of the window and attach to window sill. [Diagram of foam adhesive application]
  5. Step 5: The Window Panel cannot be installed in windows less than 20.5" (52.07 cm) wide.
    • Secure the Window Panel to the window sill with 2 Screws.
    • Inner width of the window: 20.5" (52.07 cm)- 38.5" (98 cm) Adjustment Panel was added, secure the Window Panel to the window sill with 3 Screws.
    • Inner width of the window: 38.5" (98 cm) - 56.7" (144 cm) Adjustment Panel and Extension Panel were added, secure the Window Panel to the window sill with 4 Screws. [Diagrams illustrating different window widths and panel securing]
  6. Step 6: A) Cut Foam with Adhesive to length of window and attach to top of Window Panel. B) Close window sash securely against the Window Panel. [Diagrams of foam adhesive application and sash closure]
  7. Step 7: Fix the inner window with Bracket and 1 Screw, so that it cannot slide vertically. It is recommended that you attach the Bracket to the top of the window sash. [Diagram showing bracket installation]
  8. Step 8: Cut the Foam Seal to a proper length and seal the gap between upper part of inner window sash and outer window sash. [Diagram of foam seal application]

Horizontal Sliding Window Installation

  1. Step 1: A) Insert Exhaust Nozzle into Window Panel. B) Attach Protective Guard onto Window Panel with 2 Screws. [Diagram of steps 1A and 1B]

  3. Step 3: Open the window and measure the height inside the window frame.

  7. Step 7: Fix the inner window with Bracket and 1 Screw, so that it cannot slide horizontally. It is recommended that you attach the Bracket to the top of the window sash. [Diagram showing bracket installation]
  8. Step 8: Cut the Foam Seal to a proper length and seal the gap between upper part of inner window sash and outer window sash. [Diagram of foam seal application]

Exhaust Hose Connection

  1. Rotate Exhaust Hose Connection into end of the Exhaust Hose. [Diagram showing hose connection]
  2. Rotate other end of Exhaust Hose into Exhaust Nozzle previously assembled in Window Panel. [Diagram showing hose connection to nozzle]
  3. Slide Exhaust Hose Connection into the grooves located on the back of the unit. [Diagram showing hose connection to unit grooves]
  4. Note on Installation of Exhaust Hose: In order to improve cooling efficiency, the Exhaust Hose should be as short as possible, and without bends. [Diagrams showing correct and incorrect hose installation]

Exhaust Hose Removal

  1. Remove the Exhaust Hose from the Exhaust Nozzle by turning hose counter-clockwise. [Diagram showing hose removal from nozzle]
  2. Remove Exhaust Hose Connection from unit by pressing the Clasp and lifting the Exhaust Hose Connection upwards. [Diagram showing clasp release and connection removal]

Operating Instructions

Features of Your Portable A/C

NOTE: The default temperature reading on the display is degree Fahrenheit (°F). To change the display to degree Celsius (°C) with the remote, press the Mode and Temp Decrease buttons simultaneously and hold for 3 seconds when the remote is turned off. Repeat the process to change back to degree Fahrenheit (°F). This cool-only air conditioner was not designed for freezing outdoor conditions. Do not use in freezing outdoor conditions.

Function & Control Display

SYMBOL DESCRIPTION FUNCTION
[Power Symbol] Power Button Turns air conditioner On and Off.
[Display Symbol] Display When turned on, the display will show the set temperature, or time remaining on the Delay Timer. Shows the Set Temperature while setting the temperature in COOL mode.
[+/- Symbol] Temp Increase /Decrease Buttons In COOL mode, press (+) or (-) button to increase or decrease the set temperature by 1°F. Set temperature range is 61°F (16.1 °C) to 86°F. (30 °C) Under DRY, or FAN mode, this button is inactive.
M Mode Button Cycles through COOL, DRY, FAN. COOL: Under this mode, cooling mode indicator is on. Temperature settings range from 61°F (16.1 °C) to 86°F. (30 °C).
[Fan Speed Symbol] Fan Speed Button Changes the fan speed. Choose between Low, Med, High, Auto. Note: Cannot be used in DRY Mode
[Timer Symbol] Timer Button When the unit is OFF, the timer can be set automatically to turn ON the unit. Timer setting range is .5 (30 min) - 24 hours.
[Sleep Symbol] Sleep Button Press this button to enter into sleep mode. If unit operates in COOL Mode, after SLEEP Mode is turned on, preset temperature will increase by 2°F within 1 hour; preset temperature will increase by 4°F after 2 hours. Unit will operate at this temperature until shut off. Sleep function is not available for FAN Mode, DRY Mode.

Remote Control Operation

NOTICE:

DESCRIPTION FUNCTION
Power Button Turns air conditioner On and Off.
Mode Button Press button to select a mode from the following options: COOL, DRY, FAN.
Temp Increase /Decrease Buttons Pressing (+) or (-) button once will increase or decrease set temperature by 1°F. Hold (+) or (-) button for 2 seconds, to quickly adjust the temperature on the remote control.
Fan Button This button is used for setting Fan Speed in the following sequence: AUTO- Speed 1- Speed 2- Speed 3 [Diagram showing fan speed options]
X-Fan Button By pressing this button in COOL or DRY mode the Icon “ * ” will be displayed and the interior fan will continue to operate for a few minutes in order to disperse excess condensation. This mode is not available in AUTO or FAN mode. Press this button again to turn off X-FAN mode.
Sleep Button Press this button to enter into sleep mode. If unit operates in COOL Mode, after SLEEP Mode is turned on, preset temperature will increase by 2°F within 1 hour; preset temperature will increase by 4°F after 2 hours. Unit will operate at this temperature until shut off. Sleep function is not available for FAN Mode, DRY Mode.
Timer Button Press this button to initiate Auto-ON/AUTO-OFF timer. Press this button twice to cancel auto-timer. Note: Time Setting range is .5 (30 min) - 24 hours.

To Change Air Flow Direction

CAUTION: Do not adjust the Horizontal Louver to the extreme left or right position in the COOL or DRY mode with the fan speed set to Low for an extended period of time. Condensation may form on the louvers.

Horizontal Louver Adjustment

Hold the Horizontal Louver as shown in the diagram and adjust the air flow direction. [Diagram showing horizontal louver adjustment]

CAUTION: Do not adjust the Vertical Louver to the lowest or the highest in the COOL or DRY mode with the fan speed set to Low for an extended period of time. Condensation may form on the louvers.

Vertical Louver Adjustment

Cleaning and Maintenance

WARNING:

General Maintenance

Cleaning the Filter

  1. Remove the filter(s) as shown in the figure below. [Diagram showing filter removal]
  2. Use cleaner or water to clean the filter(s). If filter(s) are very dirty, use warm water to clean it, then place filter(s) in a shady place to dry.
  3. After filter(s) are clean and dry, reinstall the filter(s).

Cleaning the Outer Case

  1. If there is dust on the outer case, use a soft towel to wipe off and remove the dust.
  2. If the outer case is dirty, then use mild detergent to wipe it.
  3. Use a cleaner or soft brush to clean the grill.

Remove Collected Water: Continuous Drainage Lower Hole Option

During cooling or drying operations, water will condense and drain into the chassis. When the chassis is full with water, a buzzer will sound and “H8” will display on the unit.

Remove Collected Water: Continuous Drainage Middle Hole Option

ATTENTION: When using continuous drainage option from the middle hole, place portable on a level surface and make sure garden hose is clear of any obstructions and is directed downward. Placing portable on an uneven surface or improper hose installation may result in water filling up the chassis and causing the unit to shut off. Empty water in the chassis if shut off occurs, then check portable location and hose for proper setup.

NOTICE: Water can automatically empty into a floor drain by attaching a garden hose (not included).

  1. Remove the Continuous Drain Cap by turning it counter clockwise, then remove the Rubber Plug from the spout. [Diagram showing drain cap and plug removal]
  2. Screw the Drain Connector (included in the package) to the spout by turning clockwise. Insert the Drainage Hose into the Drain Connector. [Diagram showing drain connector and hose insertion]

Remote Control Battery Replacement

Replacement of Batteries in Remote Control

  1. Press the back side of remote control marked with OPEN, as shown in the figure, and then push out the BATTERY COVER of battery box along the arrow direction. [Diagram showing battery cover removal]
  2. Replace two (AAA 1.5V) dry batteries, and make sure the position of “+” polar and “-” polar are correct.
  3. Reinstall the BATTERY COVER of battery box.

Before You Call

WARNING: If the below errors occur, please turn off the air conditioner and disconnect the power cord from the outlet immediately.

Please contact Customer Service at once.

Do not attempt to repair or refit the air conditioner. Operating the air conditioner under these conditions can cause further malfunctioning, electric shock, or a fire hazard.

NORMAL SOUNDS

The below describe normal sounds, you may hear while operating your air conditioner. These are not malfunctions of the unit. Contact Customer Service with any malfunction questions.

Troubleshooting

PROBLEM SOLUTION
Air conditioner will not operate Wall plug is not properly connected. Push plug firmly into the wall socket. Plug current device is tripped. Press RESET button (located on the power cord plug).
Air from unit does not feel cold enough House fuse is blown and/or tripped. Check circuit breaker/replace fuse.
Room temperature is below 60 °F (16 °C). Cooling may not occur if room temperature is below 60 °F (16 °C).
Make sure nothing is obstructing the unit; furniture, curtains, blinds.
Check for open furnace registers or cool air returns.
Make sure filter is clean. (see Maintenance section)
Room is not cooling- ice forming on back of unit RESET unit. Adjust temperature to lower setting.
Compressor shut off due to changing modes. Wait 5 minutes, compressor will turn back on when unit is set on COOL mode.
On models with touch pad controls set the unit at High FAN mode or High COOL mode and adjust the thermostat to a higher temperature.
Room is not cooling- no ice on back of unit Air restricted due to dirty air filter. Remove filter(s) and clean.
Temperature is set too high. Turn temperature setting down.
Air louvers are not adjusted properly. Check and adjust louvers to direct air flow.
Air ventilation is blocked/ hindered. Remove any object blocking air flow/ (drapes, blinds, furniture etc.).
Other doors and/or windows open allowing cool air to escape room.
Air conditioner rapidly turns on and off Air restricted due to dirty air filter. Remove filter and clean.
Unusual noise when unit is cooling See "Normal Sounds" Sections
Water dripping inside when unit is cooling Window vibrations: improper installation. Refer to Installation Instructions.
Water dripping outside when unit is cooling Improper installation. Refer to installation instructions.
Remote sensing deactivating (some models) Unit is removing a large quantity of moisture from the room. This occurrence is normal in excessively humid, hot weather.
Remote control is outside of range of the unit. Place remote within 8 m (26 ft.) of the unit.
Remote control signal is obstructed- remove any item blocking front of unit.
Low batteries. Replace batteries on remote control.

Malfunction Code

H8 Chassis is full of water. 1. Pour out the water inside chassis.
2. If "H8" still exists, please contact Customer Service.
F1 Malfunction of temperature sensor. Please contact Customer Service.
F2 Malfunction of evaporator temperature sensor. Please contact Customer Service
F0 1.Refrigerant is leaking
2.System is blocked
1. Turn unit off, pull out power plug. Wait 30 minutes.
2. Plug unit in and turn on.
3. If code still appears, please contact Customer Service.
H3 Overload protection for compressor 1.Check if the unit is within high-temperature, high-humidity environment. If outside temperature or humidity is too high, turn off unit. Wait until outside temperature drops to under 95°F (35°C).
2. Check if the evaporator and condenser are blocked. If yes, remove objects. Turn unit off.
3. Wait 30 minutes.
4. If code still appears, please contact Customer Service.
E8 Overload malfunction
F4 Outdoor tube temperature sensor is open/short-circuited. Please contact Customer Service.
E5 Overcurrent protection 1. Turn unit off, pull out power plug. Wait 10 minutes.
2. Plug unit in and turn on.
3. If code still appears, please contact Customer Service.
