Introduction

This document provides instructions for using the Vuzix Z100™ Smart Glasses.

Charging

To charge the device, connect the magnetic charging terminal to a USB 5V power source using the supplied cable. The LED will illuminate red while charging and turn off when charging is complete. It is recommended to fully charge the battery for first-time use.

Power Button Functions

Vuzix Connect App

Notification and display settings are managed on your mobile device via the Vuzix Connect app, available for iOS and Android. Scan the QR codes below to install the app.

Bluetooth Connection

On bootup, the glasses search for a previously paired mobile device. The LED lights solid green when powered on and searching. [searching] ?

To enter pairing mode, press and hold the power button for 8 seconds until the LED turns blue, then release. The LED will blink blue while the glasses are pairing. The name of the glasses will be displayed. Select this name on the mobile device in the Connect app. [pairing mode] ?

When a successful connection is made, the LED will light solid blue for a few seconds, and the phone name will display. [connected] ?

Temple Touch

Some functions allow interaction by a finger touch to the outside of the temples.

Adjusting Fit & Display

The image in the glasses can be adjusted vertically by pinching or spreading the nose bridge. The location of the text in the display can be adjusted within the Vuzix Connect app in the Settings tab.

Cleaning

Treat your smart glasses like quality eyewear. They require minimal maintenance and only need to be wiped down periodically with a microfiber cloth.

Caution: Do not spray with cleaners. If required, use a microfiber cloth moistened with standard eyeglass cleaner. Avoid spills. Solvents, household cleaners, and paper towels should never be used on your device. ⚠️

Caution: This device is not water resistant. Avoid submerging or exposure to moisture. Excessive moisture will damage the device. ⚠️

Caution: Do not pack loose objects with the smart glasses while storing. Loose objects may cause damage to the device. ⚠️

Conformity to International Regulations for Sunglasses

This product meets the essential requirements of Regulation (EU) 2016/425 and harmonised standard EN ISO 12312-1:2013 + A1:2015. The lenses meet ANSI Z80.3 1996 UV blocking requirements. Conformity declaration available at: https://www.vuzix.com/pages/legal

How to Use the Product as Sunglasses

Protection against the risk of damage to the eyes due to sunlight exposure. Filter category and type are found on the package barcode label. The number indicates the filter category for bright light. See Table 1 for explanation.

Limitations of Use

FCC Information

Specific Absorption Rate (SAR): The maximum determined SAR value over all possible transmission modes is 0.35 W/kg averaged over 10g of tissue for the body. The limit is 1.6 W/kg.
