2.2 Overview
Top View of Lawn Mower
The top view shows the main body of the robot mower. Key components visible or accessible from the top include the control panel with buttons and indicator lights, and the V-FSD camera sensor located at the front.
V-FSD (Vision-based Free Space Detection): Perceives the environmental information around the mower, assists in map building, location, and navigation.
Bottom View of Lawn Mower
The bottom view reveals the cutting mechanism and wheels. It includes the blade disc with blades for mowing, driving wheels for locomotion, and an omni-directional wheel for steering.
Base Station
The base station serves as the charging dock for the mower. It features charging contacts that align with those on the mower. It also includes an indicator light and a slot for an AirTag (sold separately) for location tracking. Note: The eufy App does not work with AirTags. For real-time location information of your mower, subscribing to data plans is recommended.
2.3 How eufy Robot Lawn Mower Works
The eufy robot lawn mower operates autonomously using its V-FSD 1.0 visual perception system.
- Boundary Management: The V-FSD system distinguishes grass from other surfaces, eliminating the need for perimeter wires, RTK stations, or manual mapping. It intelligently knows the lawn boundaries.
- Systematic Cutting: Equipped with an advanced visual positioning system, the mower performs systematic back-and-forth cutting. The cutting path is displayed on the App, allowing users to monitor progress. A single job initiation can complete full coverage mowing.
- Obstacle Avoidance: Using stereo vision and image segmentation technology, the mower detects objects like tree stumps, balls, pets, and toys in real-time and avoids collisions.
- Cutting Height: For first-time use, grass height should not exceed 9 cm (3.5 in). For significant height reduction, cut gradually (no more than one-third of grass length at a time) by adjusting the cutting height via the App.
- Charging the Mower: When the battery is low, the mower automatically returns to the base station to recharge. After charging, it resumes mowing from the exact spot where it stopped.
- Multi-base Mode: For separate lawns larger than 120 m² (0.03 acre), an additional eufy base station can be purchased. The mower recognizes the new base station and creates a new map for that lawn. When moved between base stations, it loads the corresponding map and No-go Zone configurations.
- Schedule: Mowing schedules can be set daily through the App.
- Rain Sensor and Rain Delay: The mower is weather-resistant. A built-in rain sensor detects rain, prompting the mower to return to the base station. It resumes mowing when the grass is dry.
- Cellular Data: Cellular data supports information transmission when Wi-Fi is weak and is required for the anti-theft function (GPS location tracking). Data plans are available separately via the app.
