Safety Instructions
When using this electronic device, basic precautions should always be taken, including the following:
- Read all instructions before using the product.
- Do not use this product near water. Also, do not install iMIX controllers and MIC iMIX call stations in high humidity areas, e.g., near a bathtub, wash bowl, kitchen sink, in a wet basement, or near a swimming pool.
- Use this device when you are sure that iMIX5, WC iMIX controllers, and MIC iMIX call stations have a stable base and are fixed securely.
- This product, in combination with an amplifier and audio source, may be capable of producing sound levels that could cause permanent hearing loss. Do not operate for a long period of time at a high volume level or at a level that is uncomfortable. If you experience any hearing loss or ringing in the ears, consult with an otorhinolaryngologist.
- The product should be located away from heat sources such as radiators, heat vents, or other devices that produce heat.
- The product should be connected to a power supply that is described in the operating instructions or marked on the product.
- The power supply should be undamaged and never share an outlet or extension cord with other devices. Never leave the device plugged into the outlet when it is not being used for a long period of time.
- Care should be taken that objects do not fall into liquids and liquids do not spill on the device.
- The product should be serviced by qualified service personnel if:
- The power supply or the plug has been damaged.
- Objects have fallen into or liquid has been spilled on the product.
- The product has been exposed to rain.
- The product has been dropped or the enclosure damaged.
- There are some areas with high voltage inside the iMIX 5. To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not remove the cover of the microphone receiver or power supply. The cover should be removed by qualified personnel only.
Introduction
The iMIX5 is an audio router designed to support 5 audio outputs with the option to choose one of 4 audio sources in each output individually. It is a stereo device controllable via RS232 interface or wall-mounted touchpads for main functions control. The iMIX5 has an integrated USB player and FM receiver, and supports wireless audio streaming from mobile devices. It features a priority input for emergency audio and an external mute contact for emergency cases.

Operation
Front Panel
The front panel provides access to key functions and indicators:
- 1. Output status indication: Bi-colour LED indicating audio signal presence (Green), mute (Red), or call station activity (Yellow).
- 2. AUX input: 3.5mm TRS jack for line-level stereo input, with priority over USB, FM, and streaming.
- 3. Media player: Integrated player for USB, FM, and wireless streaming.
- 4. Monitor source selector: Allows selection of audio source for the monitor output.
- 5. Monitor output: Balanced audio output for monitoring any selected output.
Rear Panel
The rear panel houses all input/output connectors and configuration controls:
- 1. Connectors for WC iMIX wall control: RJ45 ports (WC1-WC5) for connecting wall controls.
- 2. Connector for MIC iMIX page station: RJ45 port for connecting the page station.
- 3. RS232 serial interface: For external control via serial communication.
- 4. External mute: Dry contact for muting all inputs and activating priority audio.
- 5. Priority audio input: Unbalanced audio input for emergency messages.
- 6. Stereo audio outputs: Unbalanced line-level stereo outputs (Output 1-5).
- 7. Stereo audio inputs: Line-level stereo inputs for selectable audio sources.
- 8. Inputs gain control: Adjusts gain for all inputs to match audio levels.
- 9. Microphone gain control: Adjusts gain for the microphone input.
- 10. Phantom power switch: Activates +24V phantom power for the microphone input.
- 11. Microphone input: XLR connector for microphone.
- 12. Power switch: Main power on/off switch for the unit.
- 13. Main power connector: IEC connector with fuse holder (1A 250V).
Media Player Operation
The media player supports USB flash drives (up to 32GB, FAT32) and compressed audio formats. It can play music from USB, FM radio, or wireless streaming from mobile devices.
Controls:
- LCD screen: Displays track info, volume, source, and FM frequency.
- USB slot: For connecting USB flash drives.
- MODE Button: Switches between wireless streaming, FM, and USB (Music) modes.
- BACKWARD Button:
- Music Mode: Previous track or decrease volume (hold).
- FM Mode: Decrease FM frequency by 0.1 MHz steps or switch radio presets.
- PLAY/PAUSE Button:
- Music Mode: Play/pause current track.
- FM Mode: Start auto scan (hold) or toggle auto/manual scan (press).
- FORWARD Button:
- Music Mode: Next track or increase volume (hold).
- FM Mode: Increase FM frequency by 0.1 MHz steps or switch radio presets.
- REPEAT Button:
- Music Mode: Select repeat modes (Repeat All, Repeat One, Random).
- FM Mode: Save current FM frequency to a selected preset.
- MUTE/POWER Button:
- Music/FM Mode: Rapid press mutes audio. Hold to turn the media player on/off.
- FM Mode (hold): Exit frequency adjustment without saving.
FM Radio Receiver
The FM receiver can store up to 26 presets. Control is managed via the media player buttons, with specific functions for FM operation.
FM Control Functions:
- BACKWARD/FORWARD: Adjust FM frequency (0.1 MHz steps) or select presets.
- PLAY/PAUSE: Toggle between auto and manual scanning modes. Hold to initiate auto scan.
- REPEAT: Save the current FM frequency to a selected preset.
- MUTE/POWER: Exit frequency adjustment without saving.
Manual Radio Frequency Setting Guide:
- Hold the Play/Pause button to enter manual scanning mode.
- Set the frequency using the Backward and Forward buttons in 0.1 MHz steps.
- Press the Repeat button to start the save procedure.
- Select the preset number using the Backward and Forward buttons.
- Save the radio station to the selected preset by pressing the Repeat button again. "OK" is displayed upon successful recording.
- Press the Mute button to exit manual frequency scanning.
In auto scan mode, use the Backward and Forward buttons to switch between saved radio stations.
WC iMIX Wall Control
The WC iMIX is a touch-sensitive wall controller for managing audio in specific zones. It connects to the iMIX5 via CAT 5 cable.
Front Panel:
- Audio channel indication: LEDs show the selected audio source (Inputs 1-3, USB).
- Audio channel selector: Touch buttons to choose audio source (iMIX5 inputs or media player).
- System busy indicator: Red LED indicates when the device control lines are occupied.
- Volume: Capacitive touch buttons for volume adjustment.
- Local input selector: Button to enable/disable the local audio input.
- Mute: Button to turn audio on/off in the zone.
Rear Panel:
- DC 24V output: Power supply for compatible devices.
- Local audio input: Connects a local audio source, which mutes iMIX5 inputs when active.
- RJ45 connector: Connects to iMIX5 using CAT 5 cable (supports RS485, audio, +24V). Maximum distance is 500m.
MIC iMIX Page Station
The MIC iMIX page station allows for voice announcements to selected zones.
Front Panel:
- Microphone connector: XLR for gooseneck microphone.
- Signal LED: Indicates audio signal presence at the station's output.
- ALL Button: Activates all zones for announcements. Offers Quick (chime + mic, auto-off), Lock (chime + mic, hold-to-talk disabled), and No Chime (hold-to-talk, no chime) modes.
- Talk indication LED: Green for ready, Red for data line busy.
- Talk button: Activates the microphone for announcements.
- Zone selector: Switches to select desired zones for broadcasting.
Rear Panel:
- AUX input: Connects an external audio signal.
- AUX level control: Adjusts the volume of the external audio source.
- Microphone level control: Adjusts the microphone gain.
- Chime volume: Potentiometer to adjust chime loudness.
- RJ45 port: Connects to iMIX5 using LAN cable (supports RS485, audio, +24V). Max distance 500m. An external power supply is recommended for distances over 100m.
- Power connector: For connecting an additional power supply.
Control Protocol (RS232)
The iMIX5 can be controlled via RS232. The communication parameters are:
Baud rate: 9600, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, no flow control.
