Important Safety Information
⚠️ Risk of Electric Shock
All electrical connections and work on electrical systems must be performed by a qualified electrician. Ensure the system is de-energized before commencing any installation or connection work.
⚠️ Risk of Fatal Injury
Failure to observe these instructions and safety guidelines can result in fatal injury.
⚠️ Damp Room Installation
When installing in damp rooms, observe DIN VDE 0100, parts 701 and 702, which specify mandatory protective measures.
⚠️ Installation Caution
Never force the motor (8) into the winding shaft (5.2). Do not drill or insert screws in the drive area to secure the roller shutter.
CAUTION! Injury Risk
When removing old roller shutter mechanisms, be aware of the pre-tensioned spring in the old belt winder. Hold the spring unit firmly when loosening the belt and allow it to recoil slowly until fully unwound.
Installation Procedure
Step 1: Removing the Old Roller Shutter Mechanism
Open the roller shutter box. Close the roller shutter completely and detach the shutter casing from the winding shaft. Remove the existing belt winder and winding belt, then seal the belt inlet opening. Dismantle the old winding shaft and all bearings. Mark the position of the old bearings to ensure the new bearings and winding shaft are installed horizontally in the same position.
Step 2: Conditions of Use and Installation Preparations
A continuous 230 V / 50 Hz mains connection (L/N/PE) with on-site switchgear (fusing) must be available at the installation site for the tubular motor's electrical connection. Please refer to the installation and connection diagrams in the tubular motor's original manual.
Step 3: Installing the Bearings
Install the new bearings according to the previously marked positions of the old bearings. Ensure the winding shaft can be installed horizontally and that the first slat of the wound roller shutter casing is perpendicular to the window's guide rail. Fasten the bearings according to their type and site conditions.
Step 4: Determining the Length of the Winding Shaft
Calculate the winding shaft length using the formula: L = A - (B + C).
For window widths from 105 cm to 185 cm, extend the telescopic shaft (5.1) from the octagonal winding shaft (5.2) to the required length. If the window is narrower than the winding shaft (5.2), shorten it to the required size. Cut both winding shafts at a right angle with a hacksaw. Deburr the edges internally and externally with a file. Always maintain a minimum insertion depth of 200 mm for the telescopic shaft (5.1).
Step 5: Sliding the Tubular Motor into the Winding Shaft
Slide the tubular motor into the winding shaft. Ensure the adapter (9) does not slip off the adapter ring (15) on the drive head (11) during installation to prevent malfunctions.
Step 6: Installing the Tubular Motor in the Bearings
Press the drive head (11) into the click drive bearing (12). The set button (10) must be easily accessible, as must adjustment screws for mechanical motors. On the opposite side, press the counter bearing (1) with the fitted ball bearing (2) onto the telescopic shaft (5.1). Finally, fix both winding shafts (5.1 and 5.2) with the provided flat-head screws (16).
⚠️ Cable Routing Warning
To prevent short circuits from water ingress due to improper cabling, never lay the motor cable (13) vertically upwards. Instead, lay the cable in a loop. This loop will collect any water on the cable at its lowest point, allowing it to drain off.
Step 7: Mounting the Roller Shutter Casing
Slide the ties or rigid shaft connectors (6) onto the uppermost slat of the roller shutter casing (14). Place a tie or rigid shaft connector (6) every 40 cm into the rectangular holes of the winding shaft (5.2) and the telescopic shaft (5.1).
Step 8: Electrical Commissioning/Settings
Follow the information provided in the enclosed operating manual for the tubular motor regarding electrical commissioning and settings.
