Introduction and Safety Information
Welcome to your new JENSEN stereo cassette player with AM/FM radio. This manual will guide you through its operation and features to maximize your enjoyment.
Hearing Safety
JENSEN and the Electronic Industries Association's Consumer Electronics Group recommend avoiding prolonged exposure to excessive noise to protect your hearing. Set your equipment at a safe listening level. Start with the volume low and slowly increase it until you can hear comfortably and clearly, without distortion. Once a comfortable level is found, set the dial and leave it there. This practice helps prevent hearing damage or loss.
WARNING: Extended play at very high volume may impair your hearing. If you experience ringing in your ears, reduce the volume or shut off the unit. Do not use while driving a motorized vehicle, as this is dangerous and illegal in some states. Even with open-air headsets, excessively high volume may still block outside sounds.
FCC Compliance
This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B Digital Device, designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. If interference occurs, try reorienting the antenna, increasing separation between equipment and receiver, or connecting to a different circuit. Consult a dealer or technician if problems persist.
WARNING: Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user's authority to operate the equipment.

Power Source
The SCR-75 can be powered by two 1.5V DC "AA" size (UM-3) alkaline batteries (not included) or an optional AC-DC adapter (3V DC ~ 600mA output, not included).
Battery Operation
- Open the battery door on the back of the unit.
- Insert 2 'AA' (UM-3) batteries, observing the polarity diagram (+ and -) inside the compartment.
- Close the battery door.
IMPORTANT: Ensure batteries are installed correctly. Incorrect polarity can damage the unit and void the warranty.
Notes:
- For best performance and longer operating time, use good quality alkaline batteries.
- Replace batteries when the volume level significantly decreases, sound becomes distorted, or the unit no longer functions properly.
BATTERY WARNING:
- Ensure batteries are installed correctly; wrong polarity may damage the unit.
- Use only the specified battery size and type.
- Do not mix old and new batteries.
- Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc), or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries.
- If the unit will not be used for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent damage from leaks.
- Do not attempt to recharge non-rechargeable batteries; they may overheat and rupture. Follow battery manufacturer's directions.
- Do not dispose of batteries in fire, as they may leak or explode.
AC Adaptor Operation
- Plug the AC adapter cord into the DC IN JACK (#13) on the SCR-75.
- Plug the AC adapter into a household 120V/60Hz AC power outlet.
- When the AC adapter is plugged in, the batteries are automatically disconnected, and the unit operates on AC power.
NOTE: Use only an adapter with an output voltage rated at DC 3V 600mA with a center positive plug [Θ].
Operation
Radio Operation
- Plug the included earbuds into the STEREO HEADPHONE JACK (#8) and place them in your ears.
- Set the FUNCTION SELECTOR (#6) to “RADIO”.
- Set the AM/FM BAND SELECTOR (#12) to "AM" or "FM" for your desired band.
- Rotate the TUNING CONTROL (#11) to select a radio station.
- Adjust the VOLUME CONTROL (#5) for the desired sound level.
- To turn the radio off, switch the FUNCTION SELECTOR (#6) to “TAPE”.
Tips for Best Radio Reception
- For maximum FM reception, keep the earbud cord fully extended, as it acts as an external FM antenna. Do not wind or fold it.
- For maximum AM reception, place the unit in a vertical position and slowly turn the unit while tuning until the best reception is obtained.
Cassette Player Operation
- Plug the included earbuds into the STEREO HEADPHONE JACK (#8) and place them in your ears.
- Set the FUNCTION SELECTOR (#6) to “TAPE”.
- Open the CASSETTE DOOR (#1). Insert a pre-recorded cassette tape with the exposed tape facing upwards, then close the door.
- Press the PLAY BUTTON [▶] and adjust the VOLUME CONTROL (#5) for the desired sound level.
- Press the FAST FORWARD BUTTON [>>] to advance the tape quickly.
- Press the STOP BUTTON [■] to stop playback.
Auto Stop System
This unit features an Automatic Stop System to protect your cassette tapes and the pinch roller. When the tape ends during playback or fast forwarding, the PLAY BUTTON [▶] will automatically release, stopping the cassette.
Cassette Tape Operating Tips
- High-quality tapes are recommended for optimal sound reproduction.
- Tapes with a playing time of 120 minutes (C-120) are not recommended due to their thinner tape, which increases the chance of malfunction and jamming, potentially damaging the mechanism.
- For good reproduction, clean the tape head after every 10 to 20 hours of use.
- Keep cassettes away from excessive heat or cold.
- If there is slack in the tape, remove it before inserting the cassette. To remove slack, insert a pencil into the cassette hub and rotate clockwise.
- A leader tape is present at the beginning of each cassette; this area has no recording. Let the tape run for about five seconds to clear the head.
- Keep the tape head clean. A dirty head can cause distorted sound or improper tape speed. Clean the tape head, capstan, and pinch roller using a cotton swab with tape head cleaner or alcohol while the PLAY BUTTON [▶] is depressed.
Connections and Maintenance
Line-Out Connection
The SCR-75 has a 3.5mm stereo LINE-OUT JACK (#9) that allows connection to your home stereo system or external amplified speakers using a stereo audio cable (not included). The audio cable requires a 3.5mm stereo plug for the SCR-75 and appropriate plugs for the input device. When connected externally, the SCR-75's volume control will not affect the output volume; use the volume control on the external device.
Care and Maintenance
- Clean the unit with a damp (never wet) cloth. Do not use solvents or detergents.
- Avoid leaving the unit in direct sunlight, or in hot, humid, or dusty places.
- Keep the unit away from heating appliances and sources of electrical noise, such as fluorescent lamps or motors.
