Installation and Settings

NOTICE: Please check the motherboard where all pins marked with number “1” or a white bold line indicate position “1”.

Clear CMOS Jumper (CLR-CMOS)

Locate the CLR-CMOS jumper on the motherboard. To clear CMOS settings, move the jumper cap to the clear position (usually pins 2-3) for a few seconds, then return it to the default position (usually pins 1-2).

Front Audio Output Ports

Connect the front panel audio cable to the motherboard's front audio header. Pin assignments are typically:

CPU Installation

To correctly install the CPU (LGA2011), align the two starting points and the golden triangle on the CPU surface with the corresponding indicators on the motherboard socket. The golden triangle indicates Pin1.

M.2 Interface Installation

  1. Remove the screw from the screw base.
  2. Remove the screw base.
  3. Tighten the screw base into the M.2 interface distance hole according to the length of your M.2 module.
  4. Insert your M.2 module into the M.2 interface at a 30-degree angle.
  5. Place the screw on the trailing edge notch of your M.2 module and tighten it to the screw base.

Memory Installation

  1. Pull the clips on both ends of the memory slot outward. Align the memory module's notch with the protruding position in the slot to determine the correct installation direction.
  2. Align the memory module into the slot and press down firmly.
  3. The clips on both ends of the slot will automatically spring up and secure the module.

Graphics Card Installation

  1. Use a screwdriver to remove the bezel and screws from the main unit chassis.
  2. When installing the graphics card, you need to open the card slot latch.
  3. Insert the graphics card into the PCIe slot.
  4. Once installed, the latch will automatically return to its position.
  5. Secure the graphics card to the chassis with screws.
  6. Install the power cord to the graphics card if required.

2. Intel Chip Information Installation

Run “Control Panel” → “System” → “Hardware” → “Device Manager”. Right-click the hardware device to update its driver. Select “Properties” → “Update driver” → “Do not connect to Internet” → “Manually installation”. Browse to the corresponding directory and select “Next step”.

3. Audio Driver Installation

Before installation, identify the audio chip model on your motherboard (refer to this manual). Select the appropriate driver for installation.

3.1 Audio Driver Installation (HD Audio Series Example)

Run the driver installer: /X79-6M Audio/ALC662-32bit_Win7_Win8_Win81_Win10_R279/ALC662-64bit_Win7_Win8_Win81_Win10_R279.exe. Click “Next” to continue, then “Finished”. The system will automatically restart to complete the installation.

3.2 Uninstallation of Audio Driver (HD Audio Series Example)

From the Windows desktop, go to “Settings” / “Control Panel”, then “Add/Remove Programs”. In the menu, select “Realtek High Definition Audio Driver” and click “Add/Remove” to uninstall it. The driver will be automatically removed.

4. Driver Installation of External Video Card

Run the “driver installer” (Setup.exe) for your external video card. Click “Next” → “Yes” → “Next” → “Next” and then “Finished”.

5. Network Driver Installation

Run the driver installer: X79-6M LAN/Win7_8/setup.exe. Click “Next” → “Installation” → “Finished”. Restart the computer, and the system will automatically search for devices to complete the installation.

BIOS Settings

For proper computer operation and specific functions, CMOS SETUP stores data in the motherboard's CMOS SRAM. When the computer is off, the motherboard's battery powers the CMOS SRAM. When the computer starts POST (Power On Self Test), press the “Delete/Del” key to enter the AMI BIOS CMOS SETUP main page. The motherboard warm boot key is “F7”.

Menu Description: Pay attention to each option in the settings menu. If a menu item has a triangle symbol to its left, it indicates a sub-menu will pop up when selected.
