Wij wensen je veel plezier met je aankoop! 4 BEOOGD GEBRUIK Het STREX Externe DVD-station is een randapparaat dat extern kan worden aangesloten op een computer of ander compatibel apparaat, via een USB- of USB-C-poort. Het beoogde gebruik van ons apparaat is het lezen van en schrijven naar optische schijven, zoals DVD's of CD's. Deze DVD-speler/schrijver kan worden gebruikt voor het installeren van software, het afspelen van DVD's en CD's, het maken van back-ups van gegevens, het branden van CD's of DVD's, gegevenstoegang en softwareinstallatie. Er zijn geen andere toepassingen voor dit product. Gebruik de WiFi Inspectiecamera alleen zoals beschreven is in deze handleiding. Elk ander gebruik wordt als ongepast beschouwd en kan leiden tot persoonlijk letsel of materiële schade. STREX is niet aansprakelijk voor schade of letsel die het gevolg is van onjuist of onzorgvuldig gebruik. HET PAKKET Inhoud De volgende componenten zijn bij de levering inbegrepen: Extern DVD-station Handleiding 1 2 5 UITPAKKEN Haal alles uit de verpakking en controleer op beschadigingen. Als dit het geval is, gebruik het DVD- station dan niet. Wees zeer voorzichtig bij het openen van de verpakking om schade aan het product te voorkomen. Controleer na het uitpakken van het product of de levering compleet is en of alle onderdelen in goede staat verkeren. VEILIGHEID TIJDENS HET UITPAKKEN Laat het verpakkingsmateriaal niet achteloos rondslingeren tijdens het uitpakken. Het kan gevaarlijk speelmateriaal worden voor kinderen. Gooi het verpakkingsmateriaal pas weg als het DVD-station is uitgeprobeerd en werkt. WAARSCHUWING: Plastic zakken & folies. Houd plastic zakken en folies uit de buurt van baby's en kinderen om verstikkingsgevaar te voorkomen! Uitwerpknop Druk op deze knop om de schij ade te openen of te sluiten. Deze knop werkt alleen als het DVDstation voedingsspanning krijgt. Handmatige uitwerpopening Als de lade niet opengaat wanneer je op de uitwerpknop drukt, schakel je de laptop of computer uit, steek je een speld of uitgevouwen paperclip in het gaatje en druk je stevig aan. Geïntegreerde USB-kabel Aan de onderkant bevestigd (niet zichtbaar op de foto) Schij ade De lade schuift naar buiten om een schijf te plaatsen wanneer je op de uitwerpknop drukt. Wanneer je een schijf in de lade plaatst, zorg er dan voor dat het label op de schijf naar boven wijst. Als je geen schijf laadt of verwijdert, moet de schij ade gesloten blijven. 8 BEDIENINGSINSTRUCTIES 1. Sluit het DVD-station met behulp van de geïntegreerde USB-kabel aan op de USB-poort van je computer. - Controleer of je computer over voldoende stroomcapaciteit beschikt; Anders wordt het DVD- station mogelijk niet herkend. De schijf trekt 3~5W uit de USB-poort. - Vermijd aansluiting op een USB-hub of verlengkabel, omdat dan je computer mogelijk moeite heeft om het DVD-station te herkennen of de CD/DVD te lezen. 2. Je computer geeft automatisch een apparaatpictogram weer. Als er geen pop-upscherm verschijnt: - Navigeer naar het bureaublad en klik op 'Deze computer' (Windows) of "Finder" (Apple) waar het stationspictogram zichtbaar moet zijn. - Klik met de rechtermuisknop op het pictogram en selecteer "Afspelen". Het DVD-station begint met het lezen van de schijf. 3. Oudere Windows-systemen gebruiken externe DVD-mediaspelersoftware. Voor Windows 10 of nieuwere systemen kun je de VLC-mediaspelersoftware installeren om CD's en DVD's af te spelen. Download deze software gratis en veilig vanaf de volgende site: https://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.nl.html OPMERKING: - Er is geen adapter of netstroom nodig. Het DVD-station wordt automatisch herkend en geïnstalleerd door een laptop of computer (plug & play). Er is geen extra stuur-programma vereist. - Sommige software-uitwerpknoppen (op Windows- of MacOS-systemen) werken mogelijk niet met het DVD-station. Gebruik in dergelijke gevallen de uitwerpknop aan de voorkant van het DVD-station. - Dit apparaat is een CD/DVD-station en kan geen Blu-ray-schijven lezen of schrijven. - Het STREX DVD-station ondersteunt geen tv, autoradio, Blu-ray, projectoren, tablets, smartphones of Chrome OS. - Het is niet toegestaan om een USB-adapter te gebruiken voor het voeden of opladen van het DVD-station. 9 SCHIJVEN PLAATSEN EN VERWIJDEREN Een schijf plaatsen 1. Terwijl het DVD-station is ingeschakeld, druk je op de uitwerpknop op het voorpaneel om de schij ade te openen. Trek vervolgens de schij ade volledig uit. 2. Plaats de schijf met het label naar boven op de schij ade en zorg ervoor dat het midden van de schijf op één lijn ligt met de as. Druk voorzichtig op het midden van de schijf totdat deze stevig op het spilplatform klikt. 3. Duw de lade voorzichtig terug totdat deze stevig op zijn plaats zit. - OPMERKING: - Wees voorzichtig bij het uitoefenen van druk op de schijf of bij het manipuleren van de lade, aangezien overmatige kracht tot schade kan leiden. - Vermijd altijd het aanraken van de lens van de laserunit. Een schijf verwijderen 1. Terwijl het DVD-station is ingeschakeld, druk je op de uitwerpknop op het voorpaneel om de schij ade uit te werpen. Trek vervolgens de schij ade volledig uit. - OPMERKING: - Zorg ervoor dat alle actieve programma's zijn gesloten voordat je probeert de schij ade uit te werpen, en gebruik altijd de uitwerpknop. - Tijdens bepaalde discbewerkingen kan de disclade gesloten blijven, zelfs als de uitwerpknop wordt ingedrukt. 2. Til de schijf voorzichtig van het spilplatform door de rand van de schijf vast te pakken. 3. Duw de schij ade voorzichtig terug totdat deze stevig op zijn plaats zit. OPMERKING: - Nadat de schijf is uitgeworpen, plaats je de schij ade onmiddellijk terug in het DVD-station. Als je de schij ade uitgeworpen laat, wordt deze blootgesteld aan stof en vuil, wat kan leiden tot mogelijke problemen met lezen, schrijven of schij unctionaliteit 10 Handmatig uitwerpen De volgende procedure kan worden gevolgd om een schijf uit het DVD-station te halen als de uitwerpknop door software is uitgeschakeld of tijdens een stroomstoring. Deze functie dient als laatste redmiddel en mag alleen in noodgevallen worden gebruikt. Overmatig gebruik kan tot storingen leiden. 1. Schakel de computer uit en koppel de USB-kabel van het DVD-station los van de computer. 2. Steek een staaf met een kleine diameter of een stijve draad (zoals een rechtgebogen paperclip met een diameter van ongeveer 1 mm) in de handmatige uitwerpopening (het kleine ronde gat op het voorpaneel) en druk stevig aan. 3. De schij ade wordt ongeveer 10 mm uitgeworpen. Trek de schij ade voorzichtig naar buiten. OPMERKING: - Steek geen voorwerp in de handmatige uitwerpopening terwijl het DVD- station in werking is. - Steek het voorwerp niet te diep in om mogelijke schade aan de schijf te voorkomen. 11 HOE SCHIJVEN GEBRUIKEN? WAARSCHUWING: Het zich bezighouden met het ongeoorloofd dupliceren van DVD's of softwaretitels is in strijd met de wet, en personen die betrokken zijn bij dergelijke illegale kopieeractiviteiten zullen verantwoordelijk worden gehouden voor eventuele overtredingen van de auteursrechtwet- geving Schijven Bewaren Vermijd het blootstellen van schijven aan direct zonlicht. Plaats de schijf horizontaal op een vlakke ondergrond. Zorg ervoor dat je geen krassen maakt en geen labels rechtstreeks op de schijf plakt. Behandel de schijf met zorg om schade door externe schokken te voorkomen. Vermijd blootstelling van de schijf aan grote temperatuurschommelingen, omdat dit tot condensatie kan leiden. Schijven Reinigen Raak het oppervlak van de schijf niet aan; houd de schijf bij de randen vast. Reinig het schijfoppervlak met een zacht, stofvrij doekje. Begin voorzichtig met schoonmaken vanuit het midden en beweeg naar de buitenrand van de schijf. Gebruik alleen schijfreinigingsvloeisto en en vermijd het gebruik van benzeen, verfverdunner of andere oplosmiddelen. Als er vingerafdrukken, vreemde deeltjes of stof op het oppervlak van de schijf zitten, kan dit tot onjuiste functionaliteit leiden. Wanneer het Gebruik van Schijven Vermijden? Gebruik geen schijf die beschadigd, gebarsten of van lage kwaliteit is, omdat deze kan breken of versplinteren wanneer deze op hoge snelheid wordt gelezen of geschreven. Het gebruik van schijven van lage kwaliteit kan resulteren in langere opnametijden of wordt mogelijk niet ondersteund vanwege snelheidsreductie. WAARSCHUWING: STREX is niet aansprakelijk voor gegevensverlies als gevolg van het gebruik van dergelijke schijven. 12 VEILIGHEIDSINSTRUCTIES LEES de gebruikersinstructies aandachtig en let vooral op de veiligheidsinstructies. Als je de veiligheidsinstructies en informatie over het juiste gebruik in deze handleiding niet opvolgt, aanvaarden wij geen aansprakelijkheid voor eventueel daaruit voortvloeiend persoonlijk letsel of schade aan eigendommen. In dergelijke gevallen vervalt de garantie. Elektrische apparaten kunnen mensen, vooral kinderen, blootstellen aan gevaren die zowel ernstig letsel als de dood tot gevolg kan hebben. Het gebruik van elektrische apparaten kan gevaren opleveren, waaronder, maar niet uitsluitend, letsel, brand, elektrische schokken en schade aan het elektrische systeem. Deze veiligheidsinstructies zijn bedoeld om je de informatie te geven die je nodig hebt om het STREX DVD-station te gebruiken en om dergelijke gevaren te voorkomen. Gezond verstand en respect voor het apparaat helpen het risico op letsel te verminderen. Alle mogelijke gevaren kunnen hier niet worden behandeld, maar we hebben geprobeerd enkele van de belangrijkste te benadrukken. Neem ook de waarschuwingen of veilig- heidsvoorschriften in de afzonderlijke hoofdstukken van deze handleiding in acht. Als je vragen hebt die onbeantwoord blijven door deze waarschuwingen en veiligheids- instructies, neem dan contact met ons op via e-mail: info@ strex.nl. 13 ALGEMENE APPARAAT VEILIGHEID Gebruik het DVD-station niet voor een ander doel dan waarvoor het bedoeld is (zie het hoofdstuk "BEOOGD GEBRUIK"). Het DVD-station is ontworpen en bedoeld voor huishoudelijk gebruik en is niet geschikt voor commercieel of industrieel gebruik. Het DVD-station is alleen bedoeld voor gebruik binnenshuis. Gebruik het apparaat niet buitenshuis. Ga voorzichtig met het apparaat om. Schokken, stoten of een val, zelfs van geringe hoogte, kunnen het apparaat beschadigen. Plaats het DVD-station altijd op een stabiele, harde, vlakke en horizontale ondergrond. Plaats het DVD-station niet onder mechanische belasting. Het apparaat moet goed en veilig zijn aangesloten. Volg de instructies om mogelijk schade/letsel te voorkomen. Gebruik nooit accessoires die niet door de producent worden aanbevolen. Ze kunnen een gevaar vormen voor de gebruiker en het apparaat beschadigen. Steek geen voorwerpen of vingers in welke opening ook (met uitzondering van de handmatige uitwerpopening). Oefen geen overmatige kracht uit wanneer je de knop gebruikt of handmatig uitwerpt op het DVD- station. Oefen geen overmatige kracht uit op de schij ade tijdens het plaatsen of verwijderen van een schijf. Laat het ingeschakelde DVD-station niet onbeheerd achter. Bij gebruik in de buurt van kleine kinderen is nauw toezicht noodzakelijk. Verplaats het DVD-station niet terwijl het actief is. Gebruik het DVD-station niet op een plaats die onderhevig is aan overmatige trillingen. Zorg ervoor dat er nooit voedselresten of vreemde voorwerpen in de schij ade terechtkomen. Gebruik het DVD-station niet in de buurt van sterke magnetische velden, bijv. motoren, transformatoren, mobiele telefoons, e.d. Gebruik het DVD-station niet in sto ge omgevingen. Als het niet meer mogelijk is om het DVD-station veilig te gebruiken, stel het apparaat dan buiten gebruik en bescherm het tegen onbedoeld gebruik. Een veilige werking kan niet langer worden gegarandeerd als het apparaat: - zichtbaar beschadigd is, - niet meer naar behoren werkt, - gedurende langere perioden in slechte omgevingsomstandigheden is opgeslagen of - is blootgesteld aan ernstig transport gerelateerde belastingen. Je kunt het DVD-station buiten werking stellen door de geïntegreerde USB-kabel af te snijden. 14 PERSONEN & GEBRUIK Het DVD-station is geen speelgoed. Houd en bewaar het apparaat buiten bereik van kleine kinderen. Houd kleine kinderen op een veilige afstand bij het gebruik van het DVD-station. Kinderen jonger dan 12 jaar mogen het apparaat alleen gebruiken onder constant toezicht van een volwassene. Dit apparaat is niet bedoeld voor gebruik door personen (inclusief kinderen) met verminderde lichamelijke, zintuiglijke of geestelijke vermogens, of gebrek aan ervaring en kennis, tenzij ze onder toezicht staan of instructies hebben gekregen over het gebruik van het apparaat door een persoon die verantwoordelijk is voor hun veiligheid. ELEKTRONICA Je mag het DVD-station niet reconstrueren, repareren of demonteren. Dit kan het apparaat beschadigen. Onderhoud, wijzigingen en reparaties mogen uitsluitend worden uitgevoerd door de fabrikant, een door de fabrikant aangewezen professionele werkplaats of een gelijkwaardig gekwalificeerde persoon. Controleer het apparaat af en toe op beschadigingen. Gebruik het apparaat nooit als het tekenen van beschadiging vertoont. Zorg ervoor dat de USB-poort van je computer/laptop de juiste voedingsspanning levert om schade aan het DVD-station te voorkomen. De USB-poort van je computer/laptop moet zich in de buurt van het apparaat bevinden en gemakkelijk toegankelijk zijn. Koppel de geïntegreerde USB-kabel los van de USB-poort van je computer/laptop als je het apparaat langere tijd niet gebruikt, en voordat je het schoonmaakt. Schakel de laptop of computer niet uit terwijl het indicatielampje knippert. Dit kan schade aan het DVD-station veroorzaken. Koppel het DVD-station niet los terwijl het indicatielampje knippert. Dit kan schade aan het DVDstation veroorzaken. Als er rook vrijkomt of als er ongebruikelijke geluiden of geuren optreden, stop dan onmiddellijk met het gebruik van het DVD-station en koppel de geïntegreerde USB-kabel los van de USBpoort van je computer/laptop. In deze gevallen mag het DVD-station niet worden gebruikt totdat deze is geïn- specteerd door de fabrikant of een vergelijkbaar gekwalificeerde persoon. Adem nooit rook in van een potentiële apparaatbrand. Raadpleeg echter een arts als je rook hebt ingeademd. Het inademen van rook kan schadelijk zijn. Koppel om veiligheidsredenen altijd het apparaat en je computer of laptop los in geval van onweer. 15 USB-KABEL Wijzig de USB-kabel niet. Controleer de kabel regelmatig op beschadigingen. Gebruik de kabel nooit als er tekenen van beschadiging zijn. Forceer nooit een connector in een USB-poort. Als de connector en poort niet gemakkelijk samenkomen, dan komen ze waarschijnlijk niet overeen. Controleer op obstructies en zorg ervoor dat de connector overeenkomt met de poort en dat je de connector correct hebt gepositioneerd ten opzichte van de poort. Trek de USB-kabel nooit van de computer of laptop door aan de kabel te trekken. Trek altijd aan de USB-connector. De kabel mag niet worden geknikt, bekneld of gedraaid. Zorg ervoor dat de USB-kabel niet wordt samengedrukt, gebogen, beschadigd door scherpe randen of onder mechanische belasting komt te staan. Leg nooit een knoop in de kabel. Vermijd overmatige thermische belasting van de kabel door extreme hitte of kou. 16 HITTE & KOELING Het DVD-station kan een beetje warm worden tijdens gebruik. Dit is normaal. Dek het apparaat niet af terwijl het in werking is, omdat dit kan leiden tot oververhitting van het DVD-station. Dit vormt een risico op brand, elektrische schokken of letsel. Houd het apparaat uit de buurt van warmtebronnen en uit of weg van gebieden waar de omgevingstemperatuur relatief hoog is (bijv. fornuizen of andere warmtebronnen). Gebruik het apparaat nooit in de buurt van open vuurbronnen (zoals brandende kaarsen) of op hete oppervlakken. Het DVD-station is ontworpen om het beste te werken bij normale omgevingstemperaturen tussen 0 °C en 35 °C en te worden bewaard bij temperaturen tussen 0 °C en 45 °C. Het DVDstation kan beschadigd raken en de levensduur kan verkorten als het apparaat buiten deze temperatuur bereiken wordt bewaard of gebruikt. Stel je apparaat niet bloot aan dramatische veranderingen in temperatuur. Bewaar je apparaat niet in een hete auto of gedurende langere tijd in direct zonlicht. Plaats het apparaat niet in de buurt van een raam (vooral niet in de zomer). Gebruik het apparaat alleen in een gematigd klimaat (niet in een tropisch klimaat). WATER WAARSCHUWING: Dit apparaat is niet waterdicht. Gebruik het DVD-station nooit met vochtige of natte handen. Vocht kan leiden tot elektrische schokken of kortsluitingen. Gebruik het DVD-station niet in of nabij een bad, douche, zwembad of een met water gevulde container, zoals bijv. een wasbak. Niet gebruiken in natte omgevingen en niet onderdompelen in vloeistof. Giet nooit vloeisto en over of in de buurt van het DVD-station. Er bestaat gevaar voor een elektrische schok/kortsluiting. Als er toch vloeistof in de behuizing komt, koppel het apparaat onmiddellijk los van de computer of laptop. Let erop dat het apparaat op een droge ondergrond staat. 17 OGEN Het DVD-station is een laserproduct van klasse 1 dat is geclassificeerd volgens de veiligheidsnorm IEC 60825-1:2014. Dit is een laserproduct of -apparaat dat lasers van een hogere klasse kan bevatten waarvan de stralen zijn opgesloten in een geschikte omhulling, zodat toegang tot laserstraling fysiek wordt verhinderd. Dergelijke producten hebben geen laserwaarschuwingslabel aan de buitenkant nodig. Er bestaat een risico op blootstelling aan onzichtbare laserstraling als je de behuizing opent of als de behuizing defect of beschadigd is. Open de behuizing niet. Het DVD- station bevat geen onderdelen waaraan je onderhoud kunt plegen. REINIGING Koppel het apparaat altijd los van de computer of laptop voordat je het schoonmaakt. Een zachte droge doek wordt aanbevolen voor het reinigen van de buitenkant van het DVD- station. Pas op dat je tijdens het reinigen niet te veel druk op de knop uitoefent. Dompel het DVD-station niet onder in water of andere vloeisto en. Het is niet toegestaan om het apparaat met water af te spoelen, om te voorkomen dat het water in het elektrische circuit lekt en storingen veroorzaakt. Gebruik in geen geval agressieve reinigingsmiddelen, reinigingsalcohol of andere chemische oplossingen, omdat deze de behuizing kunnen binnendringen of de functionaliteit kunnen aantasten. Gebruik voor het reinigen geen schurende voorwerpen. Reiniging mag niet worden uitgevoerd door kinderen. ONDERHOUD & SERVICE Het DVD-station is op een incidentele reiniging na verder onderhoudsvrij. Je mag het DVD-station niet reconstrueren, zelf repareren of demonteren. Controleer regelmatig op beschadigingen en ernstige slijtage. 18 WAARSCHUWINGEN: Probeer het DVD-station niet te openen voor onderhoud. Het verwijderen van de behuizing of een onjuiste hermontage kan elektrische schokken, schade, kortsluitingen of brand veroorzaken. Het verwijderen van de behuizing kan blootstelling aan schadelijke onzichtbare laserstraling veroorzaken. Vermijd directe blootstelling aan de laserstraal. Als je om welke reden dan ook de behuizing opent, vervalt de garantie. Het DVD-station bevat geen onderdelen die door de gebruiker kunnen worden gerepareerd. Onderhoud, wijzigingen en reparaties mogen uitsluitend worden uitgevoerd door de fabrikant, een door de fabrikant aangewezen professionele werkplaats of een gelijkwaardig gekwalificeerde persoon. Stuur in geval van defect het product terug naar STREX met een beschrijving van het defect, het aankoopbewijs en alle toebehoren. OPSLAG & TRANSPORT We raden aan om het DVD-station te reinigen voordat je het apparaat voor lange tijd opbergt. Bewaar het DVD-station op een stofvrije plaats die niet wordt blootgesteld aan zonlicht en vochtigheid. Bewaar het DVD-station niet bij extreem hoge of extreem lage temperaturen. Dit kan het apparaat beschadigen. Bewaar het apparaat buiten bereik van kleine kinderen. Bescherm het apparaat tijdens transport tegen trillingen en schokken. Na transport of opslag bij zeer koude temperaturen, moet het DVD-station gedurende ca. 30 minuten aan kamertemperatuur wennen in verband met mogelijke condensatie. Daarna kan het apparaat gebruikt worden. 19 AFVALVERWERKING & RECYCLAGE Dit product is ontworpen en vervaardigd met hoogwaardige materialen en componenten, die kunnen worden gerecycled en hergebruikt. Eject button Press this button to open or close the disc tray. This button only works when the DVD Drive is powered. Manual eject hole If the tray does not open when you press the eject button, turn o the laptop or computer, insert a pin or unfolded paper clip into the hole, and press firmly. Embedded USB cable Attached on the bottom side (not visible in the picture) Disc tray The tray slides out to insert a disc when you press the eject button. When you place a disc in the tray, make sure the label on the disc is facing up. If you are not loading or unloading a disc, the disc tray should remain closed. 26 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 1. 1. Connect the DVD Drive using the embedded USB cable to the USB port of your computer. - Verify that your computer has adequate power capacity; otherwise, the DVD Drive may not be recognized. The drive draws 3~5W from the USB port. - Avoid connecting to a USB hub or extension cable, as your computer may struggle to recognize the DVD Drive or read the CD/DVD. 2. Your computer will automatically display a device icon. If no pop-up screen appears: - Navigate to the desktop and click on 'My Computer' (Windows) or 'Finder' (Apple) where the drive icon should be visible. - Right-click the icon and select "Play." The DVD Drive will initiate reading the disc. 3. 3. Older Windows systems use external DVD media player software. For Windows 10 or newer systems, you can install the VLC media player software to play CDs and DVDs. Download this software for free and securely from the following site: 4. https://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.nl.html NOTES: - No adapter or mains power is necessary. The DVD Drive is automatically recognized and installed by a laptop or computer (plug and play). No additional driver is required. - Some software eject buttons (on Windows or MacOS systems) may not function with the DVD Drive. In such cases, use the eject button on the front of the DVD Drive. - This device is a CD/DVD Drive and cannot read or write Blu-ray discs. - The STREX DVD Drive does not support TV, car radio, Blu-ray, projectors, tablets, smartphones, or Chrome OS. - It is not allowed to use a USB adapter for powering or charging the DVD drive. 27 INSERTING AND REMOVING DISCS Insert a disc 1. With the DVD Drive powered on, press the eject button on the front panel to open the disc tray. Then, extend the disc tray fully. 2. Position the disc, label side up, on the disc tray, ensuring the center of the disc aligns with the spindle. Gently press the center of the disc until it securely clicks onto the spindle platform 3. Carefully push the tray back until it is firmly in place. NOTES: - Exercise caution when applying pressure to the disc or when manipulating the tray, as excessive force may lead to damage. - Avoid touching the lens of the laser unit at all times. Remove a disc 1. While the DVD Drive is powered on, press the eject button on the front panel to eject the disc tray. Then, extend the disc tray fully. NOTES: - Ensure all running programs are closed before attempting to eject the disc tray, and always utilize the eject button. - During certain disc operations, the disc tray may remain closed even when the eject button is pressed. 1. Lift the disc carefully from the spindle platform by gripping the disc's edge. 2. Gently push the disc tray back until it is securely in place. NOTE: - After disc ejection, promptly return the disc tray to the DVD Drive. Leaving the disc tray ejected exposes it to dust and debris, which could lead to potential issues with reading, writing, or disc functionality. 28 Manual ejection The following procedure can be employed to extract a disc from the DVD Drive if the eject button is disabled by software or during a power failure. This function serves as a last resort and should only be utilized in emergencies. Excessive use may result in malfunctions. 1. Power o the computer and disconnect the USB cable of the DVD Drive from the computer. 2. Insert a small-diameter rod or rigid wire (such as a straightened paperclip approximately 1mm in diameter) into the manual eject hole (the small round hole on the front panel) and press firmly. 3. The disc tray will eject approximately 10mm. Carefully pull out the disc tray. NOTES: - Do not insert an object into the manual eject hole while the DVD Drive is in operation. - Avoid inserting the object too deeply to prevent potential damage to the disc. 29 HOW TO USE DISCS? WARNING: Engaging in the unauthorized duplication of DVDs or software titles is against the law, and individuals involved in such illegal copying activities will be held accountable for any violations of copyright law. Disc Storage Avoid exposing discs to direct sunlight. Position the disc horizontally on a at surface. Refrain from scratching or a xing labels directly onto the disc. Handle the disc with care to prevent damage from external impacts. Avoid subjecting the disc to significant temperature variations, as this can lead to condensation. When to Avoid Using Discs Do not utilize a disc that is damaged, cracked, or of low quality, as it may break or shatter while being read or written at high speeds. The use of low-quality discs could result in extended recording times or may not be supported due to speed reduction. WARNING: STREX is absolved of responsibility for any data loss incurred as a consequence of using such discs. 30 SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS READ the user instructions carefully and especially observe the safety information. If you do not follow the safety instructions and information on proper handling in this manual, we assume no liability for any resulting personal injury or damage to property. The DVD Drive is designed and intended for household use and is not suitable for commercial or industrial use. The DVD Drive is intended for indoor use only. Do not use the device outdoors. Handle the device carefully. Jolts, impacts, or a fall even from a low height can damage the device. Always place the DVD Drive on a stable, hard, at, and horizontal surface. Do not place the DVD Drive under mechanical stress. The device needs to be properly and securely connected. Follow the instructions to prevent any possible damage/injury. Never use accessories not recommended by the manufacturer. They can pose a danger to the user and damage the device. Never drop or insert any object or fingers into any opening (excluding the manual eject hole). Do not apply excessive force when using the button or manual eject on the DVD Drive. Do not apply excessive force on the disc tray during inserting or removing a disc. Do not leave the switched-on DVD Drive unattended. Close supervision is necessary when used near small children. Do not move the DVD Drive while it is running. Do not use the DVD Drive in a place subject to excessive vibration. Never allow food particles or foreign matter to enter the disc tray. Do not use the DVD Drive near strong magnetic fields, e.g. motors, transformers, mobile phones, etc. Do not use the DVD Drive in dusty environments. If it is no longer possible to operate the DVD Drive safely, take it out of operation and protect it from any accidental use. A safe operation can no longer be guaranteed if the device: - is visibly damaged, - is no longer working properly, - has been stored for extended periods in poor ambient conditions or - has been subjected to serious transport-related stresses. You can take DVD Drive out of operation by cutting o the embedded USB cable. 32 PERSONS & USE The DVD Drive is not a toy. Keep and store it out of the reach of small children. Keep small children at a safe distance when using the DVD Drive. Children under the age of 12 should use the device only under the constant supervision of an adult. This device is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the device by a person responsible for their safety ELECTRONICS You may not reconstruct, self-repair, or disassemble the DVD Drive. This can damage the device. Maintenance, modifications, and repairs may only be carried out by the manufacturer, a professional workshop appointed by the manufacturer, or a similarly qualified person. Check the device from time to time for damage. Never use the device if it shows signs of damage. Make sure your computer/laptop USB port supplies the correct power voltage to avoid damage to the DVD Drive. Your computer/laptop USB port must be located near the device and be easily accessible. Unplug the embedded USB cable from the USB port of your computer/laptop if you do not use the device for an extended period, and before cleaning. Do not turn o the laptop or computer while the indicator light is ashing. This may cause damage to the DVD Drive. Do not disconnect the DVD Drive while the indicator light is ashing. This may cause damage to the DVD Drive. If smoke is produced, or there are any unusual sounds or smells, stop using the DVD Drive immediately and unplug the embedded USB cable from the USB port of your computer/ laptop. In these cases, the DVD Drive should not be used until it has been inspected by the manufacturer, or a similarly qualified person. Never inhale smoke from a potential device fire. If you have inhaled smoke, however, consult a doctor. The inhalation of smoke can be harmful. For safety reasons, always unplug the device and your computer or laptop in case of a thunderstorm. 33 USB CABLE Do not modify the USB cable. Check the cable periodically for damage. Never use the cable if there are any signs of damage. Never force a connector into a USB port. If the connector and port don't come together easily, they probably don't match. Check for obstructions and make sure the connector matches the port and that you have correctly positioned the connector with the port. Never unplug the USB cable from the computer or laptop by pulling the cable. Always pull on the USB connector. The cable must not be kinked, pinched, or twisted. Make sure that the USB cable is not squeezed, bent, damaged by sharp edges, or put under mechanical stress. Never tie a knot in the cable. Avoid excessive thermal stress on the cable due to extreme heat or cold. 34 HEAT & COOLING The DVD Drive may become a little warm during operation. This is normal. Do not cover the device while it is in operation as this may cause the DVD Drive to overheat. This poses a risk of fire, electric shock, or injury. Keep the device away from heat sources and away from areas where the ambient temperature is relatively high (e.g. stoves or other heat sources). Never use a device near naked ames (such as burning candles) or on hot surfaces. The DVD Drive is designed to work best in normal ambient temperatures between 0°C and 35°C and to be stored at temperatures between 0°C and 45°C. The device may be damaged and the life may be shortened if the device is stored or used outside this temperature range. Do not subject your devices to dramatic changes in temperature. Do not store your device in a hot car or direct sunlight for extended periods. Do not place the device near a window (especially in the summer). Use the device only in a moderate climate (not in a tropical climate). WATER WARNING This device is not waterproof. Never use the DVD Drive with damp or wet hands. Moisture can cause electric shock or short circuits. Do not use the DVD Drive in or near a bath, shower, swimming pool, or any container filled with water, such as a sink. Do not use in wet environments and do not immerse in liquid. Never pour liquids over or near the DVD Drive. There is a risk of electric shock/ short circuit! If liquid does get into the housing unplug it immediately from the computer or laptop. Make sure the device is standing on a dry surface. 35 EYES The DVD Drive is a Class 1 laser product classified according to the safety standard IEC 608251:2014. This is a laser product or device that may include lasers of a higher class whose beams are confined within a suitable enclosure so that access to laser radiation is physically prevented. Such products do not require a laser warning label on the exterior. There is a risk of exposure to invisible laser radiation if you open the housing or if the housing is defective or damaged. Do not open the housing. The DVD Drive does not contain any serviceable parts. CLEANING Always unplug the device from the computer or laptop before cleaning. A soft dry cloth is recommended for cleaning the exterior and the tank of the DVD Drive. Dry with a soft cloth. Be careful not to put too much pressure on the button while cleaning. Do not immerse the DVD Drive in water or any other liquids. It is not allowed to rinse the device with water, to prevent the water from leaking into the electrical circuit and causing malfunctions. Under no circumstances use aggressive cleaning agents, cleaning alcohol, or other chemical solutions since these can penetrate the housing or impair functionality. Do not use abrasive objects for cleaning. Cleaning must not be performed by children. MAINTENANCE & SERVICE Apart from occasional cleaning, the DVD Drive is maintenance-free. You may not reconstruct, self-repair, or disassemble the DVD Drive. Check regularly for damage and severe wear. 36 WARNINGS: - Do not attempt to open the DVD Drive for maintenance. Removing the housing or improper reassembly may cause electric shocks, damage, short circuit, or fire. - Removing the housing may cause exposure to harmful invisible laser radiation. Avoid direct exposure to the laser beam. - If for any reason you open the housing, the warranty will become null and void. The DVD Drive contains no user-serviceable parts. - Maintenance, service, and repairs may only be carried out by the manufacturer, a professional workshop appointed by the manufacturer, or a similarly qualified person. In case of a defect, return the product to STREX with a failure description, proof of purchase, and all accessories. STORAGE & TRANSPORT We advise cleaning the DVD Drive before long-time storage. Store the DVD Drive in a place not exposed to sunlight & humidity, and which is dust-free. Do not store the DVD Drive at extremely high or extremely low temperatures. This can damage the device. Store the device beyond the reach of small children. Protect the device against vibrations and shocks during transport. After transport or storage at very cold temperatures, the DVD Drive must be accustomed to room temperature for approx. 30 minutes due to possible condensation. After that, the device can be used. 37 DISPOSAL & RECYCLING This product is designed and manufactured with high-quality materials and components, which can be recycled and reused Device Disposal This product complies with the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive 2012/19/EU (WEEE). The crossed-out wheeled bin symbol on the appliance indicates that, at the end of its life, the product must be disposed of separately from normal household waste and taken to a separate collection center for the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment or returned to the seller at the time a new similar device is purchased. The user is responsible for taking the device to a waste collection service at the end of its service life. Correct separate collection of waste with a view to subsequent recycling, processing, and environmentally friendly disposal of the device helps to prevent possible negative impacts on the environment and health and promotes the recycling of the materials of which the product is composed. The unlawful disposal of the product by the user results in administrative sanctions laid down by law. Packing Material Disposal Please follow the notes and markings on the packaging. Ensure that plastic bags, packaging, etc. are properly disposed of. Do not just dispose of these materials with your normal household waste, but make sure they are collected for recycling. 38 WARRANTY & LIABILITY STREX guarantees that for one year from the date of purchase, this product will be free from defects in materials and workmanship. This warranty applies to products used for personal purposes, and not for commercial or rental purposes. STREX, at its discretion, will replace or repair this product or any component of the product found to be defective during the warranty period. Replacement will be made with a new or refurbished product or component. If the product is no longer available, a replacement may be made with a similar product of equal or greater value. This is your exclusive warranty. Your replacement unit will be returned to you for no charge and will be covered under this warranty for the balance of the warranty period. This warranty is valid for the original purchaser from the date of initial purchase and is not transferrable. Proof of purchase is required to obtain support under the warranty. This warranty does not cover: - negligent use or misuse of the product; - use with incorrect voltage or current; - water damage; - use contrary to the operating instructions; - disassembly, repair, or modification by anyone other than STREX; - damage caused by accidents or disasters, such as fire, ood, earthquake, war, vandalism, or theft; - damage caused by incorrect maintenance and storage; - incompatibility with other hardware/software not defined as minimum system requirements; - exposure to adverse external in uences, such as sunlight and other radiation or electromagnetic fields; - normal wear and tear. Damage caused by failure to observe this manual will void the warranty. We do not accept any liability for consequential damage.
