Assembly Steps
- Apply the included gasket to the end panel of one of the speaker halves before assembling the soundbar.
- Screw the threaded rod into the threaded slot on the same half of the BB4000 Soundbar where the gasket was applied. Hand-tighten only.
- Screw the other side half of the BB4000 Soundbar onto the threaded rod. Ensure both halves align when seated.
- Secure the rear plate using four (4) M4*10 screws with the included Allen wrench. Ensure the rear plate JBL logo is oriented correctly.
- Run the speaker cables out of the notch towards the driver's side of the BB4000 Soundbar and drape them over the front.
- Turn the BB4000 Soundbar over and secure the bottom plate with four (4) M4*10 screws using the Allen wrench.
- Place an adjustment nut and M10 lock washer into the square tube chamber. Insert a T-bolt from below the square tube into the adjustment nut and turn clockwise to tighten. Repeat for both sides. Note: Leave adjustment nuts slightly loose to aid in sliding T-bolts into the back tracks.
- Use the Allen wrench to tighten the adjustment nuts by inserting into the hole and prying the nuts to secure the square tube. Turn clockwise to tighten.
- Install two (2) M3*6 screws and washers at the base of each T-bolt track on the back of the BB4000 Soundbar to prevent it from sliding off the square tube. Important Note: These screws are for preventing detachment during mounting and are not meant for permanent securing.
- Take the square tube/T-bolt assembly to the BB4000 Soundbar. Slide the base of each T-bolt into the channels on the lower back of the BB4000 Soundbar, sliding up the track for proper position. Note: Ensure the notch on the square tube is on the driver's side and positioned over the speaker wire.
- For safety, install retention wires on either side of the BB4000 Soundbar. Thread the wire around the retention bracket, through the fixed loop, and into one side of the retention clamp. Wrap the wire end around the square tube, thread it into the other side of the retention clamp, and tighten the set screws in the clamp with the Allen wrench to secure.
Mounting to the Vehicle
The mounting process is consistent for both the 3-Door (VM2DZ-18808-J) and 5-Door (VM2DZ-18808-K) models, with an exception for 5-Door models featuring the optional Roof Bow.
Recommendation: It is advisable to have at least one other person assist during the mounting process in your vehicle.
Standard Mounting (3-Door and 5-Door without Roof Bow)
- Remove the factory Sport Bar speaker brackets. This involves removing six (6) factory screws using a T-25 Torx bit (two in the upper horizontal bar of each bracket, one in each vertical bar). Disconnect the factory speaker connectors by squeezing the tabs and pulling them apart.
- Open the clamps on the JBL BB4000 Soundbar brackets.
- Position the brackets onto the Sport Bar and secure them using four (4) M6*20 bolts and four (4) M8 washers in the upper part of the brackets, along the horizontal bar.
- Close the clamps around the vertical bars, ensuring the rubber gaskets remain inside. Secure the clamps with four (4) M6*20 bolts and four (4) M6 hex nuts. For added safety, apply the rubber tips to the protruding ends of the screws. Note: Do not fully tighten screws until the entire assembly is mounted.
- Carefully lift the assembled BB4000 Soundbar/square tube and place the square tube ends into the cradles of the mounting brackets. Secure with four (4) M6*50 screws and four (4) M6 hex nuts (two of each per side). Note: Do not fully tighten screws until the next step.
- Once all screws are in place and the assembly is secure, tighten all screws using a torque wrench to 3.4-3.6 Nm.
5-Door with Roof Bow Assembly Mounting
If your 5-Door Bronco is equipped with the optional Roof Bow, follow these additional steps:
- Tilt the BB4000 Soundbar/square tube assembly and insert the driver's side end of the tube into the mounting bracket, sliding it fully to the end.
- Raise the passenger side end of the assembly and slide its square tube end into the mounting bracket.
- Adjust the assembly's position to center the BB4000 Soundbar in the vehicle and align the screw holes of the square tube and bracket. Secure using four (4) M6*50 screws and four (4) M6 hex nuts, as described in step 5 of the standard mounting procedure.
Routing and Plugging in Speaker Wires
- Route the speaker wires through the notch in the square tube. Connect the "Driver's Side" wire to the driver's side speaker connector and the "Passenger Side" wire to the passenger side connector.
- Wrap both wires together using the short edge of the 80*200mm Velcro tape. Thread the long edge of the tape through the notch and around the square tube to secure the wires and prevent rubbing against the soundbar.
- Use the remaining four (4) 20*200mm Velcro tape strips to further secure the wires to the square tube by wrapping them around the tube.
- Note: The JBL badges can be rotated if the Soundbar is mounted facing the rear of the vehicle.
- Plug the BB4000 Soundbar speaker wire connectors into the factory speaker connectors.
- Turn on the sound system and enjoy!
