2. Product Information
2.1 Equipment

- ? [config mode]: Wi-Fi connection interrupted and in configuration mode ("SoftAP").
- ?: LAN network connected.
- ? [disconnected]: LAN network disconnected.
- ? [scanning]: Bluetooth is in detection mode.
- ? [connected]: A Bluetooth device is connected.

3. Setting up
The instructions in the corresponding safety manual must be observed.
3.1 Unpacking the device
- Carefully unpack the device and all enclosed parts.
- Place the device in a suitable location.
- Check the device and all parts included for damage.
- Check the scope of delivery for completeness (See chapter "2.2 Scope of delivery").
- If possible, keep the packaging.
- If parts are missing or damaged, contact your dealer or sonoro customer service immediately.
- Remove the protective cardboard from the subwoofer.
- Remove the protective film from the display.
3.2 Positioning the device
- Ensure no interfering objects or equipment are in the vicinity (e.g., heat sources, metal, water, steam).
- The mains socket used must be accessible at all times.
- Note that stains may appear on natural wood with oiled or waxed surfaces.
3.3 Preparing the remote control
- Open the battery compartment.
- Insert two batteries (AAA IEC LR03) correctly.
- Close the battery compartment.
3.4 Connecting antennas
For reception in the wireless network, connect the two Wi-Fi antennas. An aerial and a telescopic antenna are available for radio reception (FM/DAB). Alternatively, the device can be connected directly to a connection on the house aerial using a suitable aerial cable (F connector not included).
3.4.1 Wi-Fi antennas
- Screw on the antennas.
- Point the antennas upwards.
3.4.2 FM/DAB telescopic antenna
- Screw on the antenna.
- Pull out the antenna completely.
3.4.3 FM/DAB aerial
- Screw on the antenna.
- Unfold the antenna so that both ends and the cable form a "T".
- Align the antenna for optimal reception (recommendation for FM: both ends horizontal; recommendation for DAB: both ends vertical).
3.5 Establishing a power supply
- Plug the power cable into the device.
- Connect the power cable to the mains socket.
- Ensure the mains socket is accessible at all times.
- Switch on the main switch.
3.6 Initial setup
- Switch on the device. Wait a few seconds for the setup wizard to start automatically.
- Follow the instructions shown on the display.
- Accept the privacy policy.
- Set the language, region, country, and time zone.
- Chromecast built-in can be started directly during setup or later (See chapter "4.7.9 Chromecast built-in").
- Setup includes network connection (See chapter "3.7 Network connection").
- Completion is confirmed with a message: "Setup is complete - congratulations! The device is set up."
3.7 Network connection
- WLAN: Briefly press the WPS button on the back of the device, then briefly press the WPS button on your router. The connection is established automatically.
- LAN: Connect the LAN cable with the device and your router. The connection is established automatically.
- Further connection options: Main menu -> Settings -> Network wizard (See chapter "4.7.1 Network wizard").
3.8 Sound optimisation
The sonoro Room correction app (iOS only, from iPhone 6) is available for automatic sound adjustment to the room situation. The app uses digital filters to compensate for sound deviations due to spatial conditions.
- Open the sonoro Room correction app on your iPhone.
- Follow the instructions.
- Alternatively, access via the device: Press the main menu button, select "Sound settings" -> "Room correction EQ" -> "Set up room correction".
4. Operation
The device can be operated via:
- Directly on the device (See chapter "4.1 Control on the device").
- Via the remote control (See chapter "4.2 Control via the remote control").
- Via the sonoro audio app (See chapter "5. sonoro audio app").
- Via the sonoro web client (See chapter "6. sonoro web client").
4.1 Control on the device
Operate the device using the navigation keys and the rotary control.
- Menu display: Press the OK button to confirm selection.
- Playback display: Briefly press OK for track/station info; press and hold to enlarge display; press again to return to previous display.
- Back button: Go back to the previous menu or enter the source submenu.
- Main menu button: Access the main menu.
- Rotary control: Select menu items or adjust volume.
4.2 Control via the remote control
Use the remote control for operation.
- Directional buttons (Up/Down): Select menu items.
- Directional buttons (Left/Right): Navigate menus or change stations/titles.
- OK button: Confirm selection.
- Mute button: Mute/unmute sound.
- Back button: Go back to the previous menu or enter the source submenu.
- Main menu button: Access the main menu.
- Volume buttons (+/-): Adjust volume.
4.3 Functions
- Switch on/off: Starts playback with the last selected source or switches to standby. The device automatically switches to standby after a set timeout if not operated.
- Play/Pause: Continue or pause playback.
- Previous/Next: Change to the previous or next title, station, or frequency. Press and hold for rewind/fast forward or station scan.
- CD Eject: Eject the sound carrier from the CD drive.
- Headphones: Inserting the headphone jack activates playback on headphones and deactivates speakers.
- Favorites: Access saved sources via the ⭐ button.
4.4 Main menu
Access setting options and playback sources.
4.4.1 Menu: Select the desired playback source (See chapter "4.5 Sources").
4.4.2 Sound settings: Adjust sound preferences:
- 3D Sound: Enhance spatial effect.
- Dynamic Bass: Extend lower frequency range.
- Bass: Adjust from -12 dB to +12 dB.
- Treble: Adjust from -12 dB to +12 dB.
- Room correction EQ: Enable/disable room correction (See chapter "3.8 Sound optimisation").
4.4.3 Sleep timer: Set automatic switch-off function (5-minute steps up to 120 minutes). Indicated by ⏳ icon. Can be ended by switching off the device.
4.4.4 Alarm: Set up alarm function:
- Alarm list: Manage stored wake-up times (confirm, change, delete).
- Add alarm: Set Active (Off, Daily, Once, Weekdays, Weekends, specific day), Time, Sound (alarm tone or favorite source), Volume.
- Snooze function: Temporarily silence alarm (10-60 min duration). Indicated by ⏰ ⏳ icon.
4.4.5 Recently played: Calls up a list of the most recently played sources.
4.4.6 Recall from favorites: Call up previously saved sources (See chapter "4.6 Favorites").
4.4.7 Settings: Select general device settings (network, language, time, factory reset) (See chapter "4.7 Settings").
4.5 Sources
Selection of the desired playback source via dedicated buttons, main menu, or remote control.
4.5.1 DAB Radio: Play digital radio stations via antenna.
- Submenu: Station list, Rescan, Manual tuning, Prune invalid stations, DRC (Dynamic Range Compression).
4.5.2 FM Radio: Play analogue radio stations via antenna.
- Submenu: Station list, Save station, Scan setting (Strong stations only / All stations), Temporary service (stereo/mono), Scan.
4.5.3 Internet radio: Play radio stations via Internet streaming.
- Submenu: Favorites, History, Recommendations, Local stations, Popular stations, Trending, High quality, New stations, Filter (by place, language, genre), Scan.
4.5.4 Podcast: Play podcast programs via Internet streaming.
- Submenu: Favorites, History, Popular podcasts, Trending, Filter (by place, language, genre), Scan.
4.5.5 Bluetooth: Playback from/to paired audio sources/devices (approx. 10m range).
- Connecting: Ensure Bluetooth device is in discovery mode. Press Bluetooth button or select from menu. Start scanning, select device, confirm pairing.
- Submenu: Scan for Bluetooth devices, Paired audio sources, Paired audio devices, New devices.
- Disconnecting: Press and hold Bluetooth button.
- Unpairing: Call up Bluetooth submenu, select device, select "Unpair".
4.5.6 AUX: Playback from external devices via AUX 1 (RCA) or AUX 2 (3.5mm jack).
- AUX In 1: Adjust input sensitivity (Low, Medium, High).
- AUX In 2: Fixed input sensitivity (300 mV).
4.5.7 Digital: Playback from external devices via Optical, Coaxial, or HDMI inputs.
- Optical/Coaxial: Audio latency compensation.
- HDMI: Ensure "eARC" or "ARC" output is selected on TV. HDMI CEC (Consumer Electronics Controls) can be turned on/off. Audio latency compensation.
4.5.8 My Music: Playback from USB inputs, media servers on the same network, or Internet streaming services.
- ATTENTION! Risk of material damage due to improper handling. Never connect the device to the USB port of a computer or to storage media connected to the power supply.
- Submenu: Shared Music (searches network for audio files), USB-A, USB-C (access content by file structure), Play queue (add songs), Playlists (create new, select existing), Shuffle, Repeat.
4.5.9 CD: Playback from sound carriers in Audio CD and MP3/WMA CD formats.
- Playback starts automatically when a sound carrier is inserted.
- Submenu: Display carrier information, Shuffle (on/off), Repeat (all, one, folder, off), Resume playback (on/off).
4.5.10 Music services: Connect music services like Amazon Music, Deezer, Napster, Qobuz, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect.

4.5.11 Streaming: Data transfer and content playback via streaming applications.
- Chromecast built-in: Connect if smartphone/tablet is on the same wireless network. Setup via Google Home app.
- AirPlay: Connect if iOS device is on the same network.
- Spotify Connect: Use phone/tablet/computer as remote control for Spotify.
- TIDAL Connect: Control directly via the TIDAL app.
4.5.12 Smart Home: Playback from/to devices connected via building automation systems.
- Supported operations: Turn on/off, select source, call up functions (play/pause, next/previous), adjust volume, play playlists, recall favorites.
- Connection: Contact a sonoro Smart Home specialist dealer or sonoro customer service.
- Compatible systems: Busch-free@home, KNX, Gira X1, Control4.
4.6 Favorites
Store and recall up to 99 favorite radio stations, streaming titles, or podcast broadcasts.
4.6.1 Device: To save, the desired source must be playing. Press and hold the ⭐ button until the favorites list is displayed, select a storage space, and confirm. To recall, briefly press the ⭐ button, select the favorite from the list, and confirm.
4.6.2 Remote control: The first 6 storage spaces can be called up via direct buttons on the remote control. To save, press and hold one of the six buttons while the desired source is playing.
4.6.3 Internet: Additional storage space for Internet sources (internet radio, podcasts, music services) in a separate folder named after the source.
4.7 Settings
4.7.1 Network wizard: Establish network connection (wireless or LAN).
- Configure connection (wireless): Scan network, WPS button, WPS Pin code, Manual (DHCP enabled/disabled).
- Configure wired: DHCP disabled (manual settings), Automatic DHCP.
- Network type: Automatic, Wireless (WLAN), Wired.
- Reset network settings: Delete or reconfigure network connection.
4.7.2 Network info: Displays network status, type, connection, SSID, encryption, IP addresses, gateway, DNS.
4.7.3 Language: Select the display language.
4.7.4 Date and time: Set time format (12/24 hours). Country and region. Date and time are retrieved automatically from the Internet or DAB/FM.
4.7.5 Device info: Displays device name, ID, serial number, software information (sonoroSDK, Spotify, MCU, DSP, Bluetooth, CD servo, DAB/FM, HDMI). Device name can be edited.
4.7.6 Manual software update: Check for update or update via USB.
4.7.7 Reset device: Resets the device to factory defaults. All saved settings are deleted and must be reconfigured.
4.7.8 Streaming audio quality: Adjustable for Amazon Music, Napster, Qobuz, TIDAL Connect (Low, Normal, High, Premium).
4.7.9 Chromecast built-in: Enable/disable "Cast is enabled" or "Activate Cast". Send usage/crash reports. Access Google Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
4.7.10 AirPlay password: Request or clear a one-time password from the iOS device.
4.7.11 Display settings:
- Brightness setting: Automatic or manual.
- High ambience / Low ambience.
- Return to play-screen time: Turn off, 15 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute.
- Screen timeout in standby: Display always on, 15 seconds, 1 minute, 5 minutes.
- List gradience: On/Off (highlights current menu selection).
4.7.12 Power management:
- Standby timeout: Set time until automatic switch-off when idle (Off, 10, 15, 20, 30 minutes).
- Inactive standby: Set time until automatic switch-off when playing but not operated (Off, 2, 4, 8, 12 hours).
- Deep sleep mode: Active/Inactive. Alarm function is inactive in deep sleep mode. Device cannot be recognized on the network.
4.7.13 Privacy policy: Access via QR code and "Accept" prompt.
5. sonoro audio app
The sonoro audio app allows control of the device via smartphone or tablet. Better sound quality is achieved via Wi-Fi connection compared to Bluetooth.

6. sonoro web client
Operate the device via a web browser by entering the device's IPv4 address (See chapter "4.7.2 Network info"). Example: "192.168.0.23".
7. Cleaning and care
ATTENTION! Risk of property damage due to improper cleaning.
- Never use abrasive or solvent-based cleaning agents.
- Never use hot or compressed air to dry the device.
- Protect edges and corners from excessive pressure.
- Fingerprints and light soiling: Clean the outside with a soft, dry cloth.
- Heavy soiling: Clean the outside with a slightly damp cloth, then dry with a soft, dry cloth.
8. Troubleshooting
- Device does not switch on: Check power supply and cable connection.
- Device does not respond: Disconnect from power for a few seconds, then switch on again.
- Device automatically switches to standby: Check sleep timer or inactivity standby function.
- Poor sound quality: Increase distance to other devices; use shielded HDMI cable if applicable.
- Remote control not reacting: Reduce distance, replace battery.
- No connection to wireless network: Check router distance/shielding, router status, or repeat connection process.
- No sound audible: Check volume, playback mode, headphone connection, FM/DAB reception, network connection, digital input settings (PCM), or HDMI connection.
- CD playback does not start: Check sound carrier format, cleanliness, or condition.
- Internet radio station issues: Station may have limited listeners or be temporarily unavailable. Try again later.
- USB device issues: Check supported playback formats and file system. Remove hidden files. Ensure proper USB cable connection for charging.
- Bluetooth connection issues: Disconnect from other devices, restart Bluetooth device, or check profile compatibility.
9. Disposal
9.1 Disposing of the packaging
- Dispose of packaging materials in an environmentally friendly and appropriate manner (recycling). Separate materials for recycling.
9.2 Disposing of the device
- ATTENTION! Danger of environmental damage due to improper disposal.
- Do not dispose of the device in normal household waste.
- Contact your city or municipal administration for environmentally friendly recycling or disposal options.
- Dispose of the device via a specialist disposal company, municipal waste disposal facility, or return it to the distributor.
- Remove batteries before disposal and dispose of them separately at designated collection points.
