EnviroVent ECO dMEV & ECO DMEV SELV Extract Fans
Installation, Operation, and Maintenance Guide
Introduction
The ECO dMEV extract fan range from EnviroVent is manufactured to the highest standards of production and quality, adhering to the international Quality Standard ISO 9001. All components are checked, and final products are individually tested. This guide provides instructions for installation, operation, and maintenance.
Safety Precautions: This appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience, if they have been given supervision or instruction on safe use and understand the hazards. Children must not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance should not be performed by children without supervision.
Installation
IMPORTANT: Before installing and wiring the unit, ensure the mains supply is disconnected.
The ECO dMEV is suitable for wall or ceiling mounting and can extract air directly to the outside or through a ducted system. A Ø105 mm hole is required in the wall or ceiling. If using ducting, a standard Ø100 mm duct should be used.
Figure 1a: Illustrates the assembly and disassembly process, showing steps for removing the front grille and protection cover, and revealing the fan unit. It also depicts a cleaning step involving water spray.
Figure 1b: Shows an exploded view of the fan unit with numbered components: 1. Front grille, 2. Protection cover, 3. Support, 4. Connection terminals, 5. Cable entry, 6. Dip switches, 7. Potentiometer, 8. Air filter. It also highlights the internal electronic components: a bank of 5 dip switches (SW1-SW5) and a bank of 3 terminals labeled P1, P2, P3.
To install:
- Remove the front grille (1) and the protection cover (2).
- Mount the unit on the wall or ceiling using the provided 4 raw plugs and screws.
- Ensure there are no obstructions to the airflow and that the impeller turns freely.
- Introduce the mains cable through the cable entry (5) and fix it to the wall.
- Mount the protection cover and the front grille.
Figure 2: Depicts installation options. It shows correct and incorrect mounting positions relative to airflow obstructions and correct/incorrect external vent/duct configurations, emphasizing avoiding bends and obstructions.
Electrical Connection
The ECO dMEV is designed for a single-phase supply, with voltage and frequency as indicated on the unit's rating plate. The units have double electrical insulation (Class II) and do not require an earth connection. The electrical installation must include a double-pole switch with a contact clearance of at least 3 mm. The electrical cable must enter the ECO dMEV through the cable entry (5).

Operation
The ECO dMEV is designed for continuous operation at a low speed (trickle setting) and constant volume. The constant flow setting is adjusted using the dip-switches on the electronic circuit board (Fig. 1b).
m³/h | l/s | S | T - HT - HTP |
---|---|---|---|
15 | 4 | ●●●●● | ●●●●● |
22 | 6 | ●●●●● | ●●●●● |
30 | 9 | ●●●●● | ●●●●● |
36 | 10 | ●●●●● | ●●●●● |
45 | 13 | ●●●●● | ●●●●● |
54 | 15 | ●●●●● | ●●●●● |
The ECO dMEV can also operate at high speed, activated by:
- An external switch (S, T, HT versions) or light switch.
- An integral humidity sensor (HT, HTP versions).
- An internal pull cord switch (HTP version).
ECO dMEV S Operation
The ECO dMEV S operates in two modes:
- Continuous trickle only: The fan operates continuously at the set air volume.
- Trickle with boost: The fan operates on trickle, with the ability to boost to high speed via an external switch or light switch. When the switch is pressed, the fan runs at full speed until the switch is turned off.
ECO dMEV T Operation
This model features an adjustable over-run timer. The timer allows the fan to continue operating for a selected period after the switch has been turned off (Fig. 5). The timer is set using the "P2" potentiometer on the circuit board (Fig. 7).
- Manufacture setting: 1 minute.
- To reduce "run on" time: turn P2 anticlockwise (min: 1 minute).
- To increase "run on" time: turn P2 clockwise (max: 30 minutes).
ECO dMEV HT Operation
Models with an electronic humidity sensor (adjustable from 60% to 90% RH) and an adjustable timer (1 to 30 minutes).
- Case 1: Automatic operation (Fig. 3): The fan operates continuously on trickle. It boosts to high speed when room humidity exceeds the set level. After the set timer period, it returns to trickle, unless humidity remains high.
- Case 2: Manual override: Similar to Case 1, but allows overriding the humidity sensor via an external switch (Fig. 5) or light switch (Fig. 4) when humidity is lower than the set level. The fan continues to operate for the set timer period after the switch is turned off.
ATTENTION: When humidity is above the selected value, automatic operation takes precedence over manual override.
Settings (ECO dMEV HT)
Factory settings are 60% RH for humidity and 1 minute for the timer.
- The desired humidity level is set using potentiometer "P3" (Fig. 8).
- To increase humidity sensitivity: turn P3 anticlockwise (min: 60% RH).
- To reduce humidity sensitivity: turn P3 clockwise (max: 90% RH).
- The timer is set using potentiometer "P2" (Fig. 8).
- To reduce "run on" time: turn P2 anticlockwise (min: 1 minute).
- To increase "run on" time: turn P2 clockwise (max: 30 minutes).
Figure 7 & 8: Show close-ups of potentiometers P2 (timer) and P3 (humidity) on the circuit board, indicating adjustment directions (min./max. or +/-).
ECO dMEV HTP Operation
This version is similar to the ECO dMEV HT but includes a manual pull cord to activate boost mode when humidity levels are below the set point (Fig. 6). When the pull cord is switched off, the fan continues to operate on boost for the timer duration before reverting to trickle, unless humidity levels remain high.
Specific Recommendations
- Handle potentiometers on the circuit board with care as they are fragile.
- Do not change the humidity sensor setting remotely from the room where the fan is installed.
- If humidity is consistently above 90% RH, the fan will run at full speed.
- If humidity is consistently below 60% RH, the fan will only operate on trickle speed in automatic mode.
Troubleshooting Boost Issues:
- If the fan never runs on boost: Check if the humidity sensor is set to maximum or if the room humidity is below 60% RH.
- If the fan always runs at boost: Check if the humidity sensor is set to minimum or if the room humidity is above 90% RH.
Maintenance
IMPORTANT: Disconnect from the mains supply before carrying out any maintenance.
The ECO dMEV extract fan is supplied with a plastic filter. Performance depends on cleaning frequency; cleaning is recommended at least every two months (refer to Fig. 1a for cleaning guidance). The fan must always be operated with the filter fitted; using it without the filter invalidates the warranty.
Clean the external surface periodically with a cloth lightly impregnated with a soft detergent.
