EnviroVent ECO dMEV & ECO DMEV SELV Extract Fans

Installation, Operation, and Maintenance Guide

Introduction

The ECO dMEV extract fan range from EnviroVent is manufactured to the highest standards of production and quality, adhering to the international Quality Standard ISO 9001. All components are checked, and final products are individually tested. This guide provides instructions for installation, operation, and maintenance.

Safety Precautions: This appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience, if they have been given supervision or instruction on safe use and understand the hazards. Children must not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance should not be performed by children without supervision.

Installation

IMPORTANT: Before installing and wiring the unit, ensure the mains supply is disconnected.

The ECO dMEV is suitable for wall or ceiling mounting and can extract air directly to the outside or through a ducted system. A Ø105 mm hole is required in the wall or ceiling. If using ducting, a standard Ø100 mm duct should be used.

Electrical Connection

The ECO dMEV is designed for a single-phase supply, with voltage and frequency as indicated on the unit's rating plate. The units have double electrical insulation (Class II) and do not require an earth connection. The electrical installation must include a double-pole switch with a contact clearance of at least 3 mm. The electrical cable must enter the ECO dMEV through the cable entry (5).

ECO dMEV Wiring

ECO dMEV SELV Wiring

Figure 3 (Bottom): Shows wiring for the ECO dMEV SELV connecting to 230Vac 50/60Hz mains supply and a CT-17/18 control unit. The CT-17/18 unit has terminals J1, J2, +17V, GND, LS, and is rated for a TIME-DELAY FUSE 125 mA MAX.

Operation

The ECO dMEV is designed for continuous operation at a low speed (trickle setting) and constant volume. The constant flow setting is adjusted using the dip-switches on the electronic circuit board (Fig. 1b).

The ECO dMEV can also operate at high speed, activated by:

ECO dMEV S Operation

The ECO dMEV S operates in two modes:

ECO dMEV T Operation

This model features an adjustable over-run timer. The timer allows the fan to continue operating for a selected period after the switch has been turned off (Fig. 5). The timer is set using the "P2" potentiometer on the circuit board (Fig. 7).

ECO dMEV HT Operation

Models with an electronic humidity sensor (adjustable from 60% to 90% RH) and an adjustable timer (1 to 30 minutes).

ATTENTION: When humidity is above the selected value, automatic operation takes precedence over manual override.

Settings (ECO dMEV HT)

Factory settings are 60% RH for humidity and 1 minute for the timer.

Figure 7 & 8: Show close-ups of potentiometers P2 (timer) and P3 (humidity) on the circuit board, indicating adjustment directions (min./max. or +/-).

ECO dMEV HTP Operation

This version is similar to the ECO dMEV HT but includes a manual pull cord to activate boost mode when humidity levels are below the set point (Fig. 6). When the pull cord is switched off, the fan continues to operate on boost for the timer duration before reverting to trickle, unless humidity levels remain high.

Specific Recommendations

Troubleshooting Boost Issues:

Maintenance

IMPORTANT: Disconnect from the mains supply before carrying out any maintenance.

The ECO dMEV extract fan is supplied with a plastic filter. Performance depends on cleaning frequency; cleaning is recommended at least every two months (refer to Fig. 1a for cleaning guidance). The fan must always be operated with the filter fitted; using it without the filter invalidates the warranty.

Clean the external surface periodically with a cloth lightly impregnated with a soft detergent.

After Sales Service

Do not attempt to dismantle or remove parts other than those specified, as tampering will cancel the EnviroVent guarantee. For any faults, contact EnviroVent on 01423 810810.

Putting Out of Service and Recycling

In accordance with EEC legislation and consideration for future generations, materials should be recycled where possible. Deposit all packaging in appropriate recycling bins. If the device is labeled with the recycling symbol [recycle symbol ♻️], please take it to the nearest Waste Management Plant at the end of its service life.

EnviroVent reserves the right to alter specifications without notice.

Warranty

ECO dMEV products are covered by a two-year warranty, subject to specified maintenance. If the fan was supplied and installed by EnviroVent, it includes a full parts and labour warranty. Contact 0345 27 27 810 for guidance or to arrange a visit (call-out charges may apply if the fault cannot be identified).

Supply Only: If supplied by EnviroVent and installed by a third party, it is covered by a parts-only warranty. If a fault is detected and installation complied with instructions and by a qualified person, return the product to the place of purchase for replacement.

Warranty Conditions & Exclusions

A receipt is required as proof of purchase. Fans bought from unapproved sources (e.g., auction websites) are not covered.
