Preparation Before Washing

Care Labels

Check care labels on clothes for fabric content and washing instructions. Sort clothes by wash cycle, water temperature, and spin speed.

Sorting

For best results, sort fabrics by:

  • SOIL (Heavy, Normal, Light): Separate according to soil type and amount.
  • COLOR (Whites, Lights, Darks): Separate white fabrics from colored ones.
  • LINT (Lint Producers, Collectors): Separate lint producers and collectors.
Lint Producers include Terry cloth, Towels, Nappies, Diapers. Lint Collectors include Synthetics, Socks.

Check before Loading

  • Check all pockets for items like nails, hairclips, matches, pens, coins, keys, which can damage the washer or clothes.
  • Mend torn garments or loose buttons to prevent further damage.
  • Remove belts, underwires, etc., to prevent damage to the machine or clothes.
  • Pretreat dirt and stains.
  • Ensure clothes are washable in water.
  • Check washing instructions.

CAUTION

Do not wash or spin water-proof or water-resistant items, even if the care label permits machine washing. Failure to follow this may cause severe damage to laundry, the washer, or property due to abnormal vibration. Examples include mattress pads, rain gear, camping gear, skiing apparel.

Pretreatment on stains or heavy soil

  • Pretreat shirt collars and cuffs with a pre-wash product or liquid detergent.
  • Treat special stains with bar soaps, liquid detergent, or a paste of water and granular detergent.
  • Use a pretreat soil and stain remover. Treat stains as soon as possible.

(For more detail, refer to page 16)

Loading

Do not wash fabrics containing flammable materials (waxes, cleaning fluids, etc.).

Load Size

The WATER LEVEL should just cover the clothes. Adjust load size accordingly. Load clothes loosely, not higher than the top row of holes in the tub. To add items after starting, press Start, submerge items, close lid, and press Start again.

Light and Large-sized clothing

Clothes like downs and woollens are light, large, and float easily. Use a nylon net* and wash in a small amount of water. If laundry floats, it may be damaged. Use dissolved detergent to prevent clumping.

Long laundry items

Use nylon nets* for long, delicate items. Nets prevent tangling for items with long strings or lengths. Fasten zippers, hooks, and strings to prevent snagging.

* Nylon net not supplied by LG.

WARNING: Fire Hazard. Never place items dampened with gasoline or other flammable fluids in the washer. No washer can completely remove oil. Do not dry anything that has had any type of oil on it (including cooking oils), as this can result in death, explosion, or fire.

Use of Water, Detergent, Bleach and Softener

Using Water

** Rated Capacity of Model

NOTE [Minimum water amount]

Water level depends on laundry load and washer mode. You can manually add water to a certain height. The washer operates automatically once the sensed water level is reached. Pour water until the washer starts operating.

NOTE

Iron in water can cause clothes to turn yellow or stain brown/orange. Install a water softener or iron filter if needed.

Cold Water Washing

When washing in COLD water, additional steps may be needed:

  • Adjust detergent amount and pre-dissolve in WARM water.
  • Pre-treat spots and stains.
  • Soak heavily soiled items.
  • Use appropriate bleach.

* Water below 18°C (65°F) may not activate additives and cause issues. COLD water is defined as 26-29°C (80-85°F) by detergent manufacturers. If water is too cold, detergent may not clean effectively.

Using Detergent

Detergent

Follow detergent package directions. Insufficient detergent is a common cause of laundry problems. Use more for hard water, large loads, greasy soils, or low water temperature.

Choosing the right Detergent

Use domestic detergent (powder, liquid, or concentrated). Avoid soap flakes or granulated powders. Use detergent suitable for woolens when washing woolens.

Water Level and Amount of Detergent

Detergent Amounts:

  • Concentrated detergent: 20g per 30 liters of water.
  • Regular synthetic detergent: 30g per 30 liters of water.
  • Automatic sensing may adjust detergent amount based on laundry load even at the same water level.
  • Use synthetic detergents that generate less bubbles.
  • For liquid detergent, dissolve with water (1:1 ratio) and add through the bleach deposit hole.
  • Detergent amount varies by soil level (Jeans/work clothes may need more; bath towels less).
  • Follow manufacturer recommendations for liquid and concentrated detergents.

Note on Foam Level: A thin layer of foam is ideal. Too much foam hinders rinsing and can cause environmental pollution. No foam means insufficient detergent, leading to soil redeposition.

Adding the detergent*

Add measured detergent to the dispenser drawer. Powdered detergent is recommended for delay wash. Detergent is flushed at the start of the wash phase. Adjust usage based on water temperature, hardness, load size, and soil level. Avoid using too much detergent to prevent oversudsing and residue.

Diagram shows a dispenser drawer with options for detergent and bleach, and an illustration of adding detergent.

Using Liquid Bleach

  • Check care labels and separate items to be bleached.
  • Dilute liquid chlorine bleach.
  • Measure bleach carefully according to bottle instructions.
  • Pour measured bleach directly into the bleach dispenser before starting the washer. Avoid splashing or overfilling. Mix powdered bleach with water before pouring.

NOTE

  • Never pour undiluted liquid bleach directly onto clothes or into the wash basket, as it can cause color change or damage.
  • Do not mix chlorine bleach with ammonia or acids (vinegar, rust remover) as this can release toxic gas causing death.
  • Do not pour powdered bleach into the bleach dispenser.

Using Fabric Softener

  • Dilute fabric softener with water. Undiluted softener may cause oil-like spots.
  • Measure and add softener to the compartment marked with the symbol ( ). Follow manufacturer's directions.
  • Softener dispenses automatically in the final rinse. For extra rinse, add manually when the beep sounds.
  • Do not overfill the dispenser (max 35ml). Overfilling can cause early dispensing and stained clothes. Use a pouring spout to avoid spills.
  • Softener effect may vary by viscosity. Stickier softeners may be less effective and might need dilution.

Attention

  • Do not mix with detergent or bleach.
  • Never pour fabric softener directly on clothes; it may stain them.
  • Do not stop the washer during the first spin for timely dispensing.
  • Option washing is not designed for use with the fabric softener dispenser.

Scrud (Waxy Build up)

Scrud is a waxy build-up from fabric softener interacting with detergent. It can cause stains or unpleasant smells. If scrud builds up, it is not a machine fault.

Recommendations for using fabric softener:

  • Use sparingly.
  • Do not splash or overfill the dispenser.
  • Clean the dispenser after each cycle.
  • Clean the machine regularly (refer to page 24 or 33).
  • Cold water washing increases scrud build-up. Recommend warm or hot wash every 5th wash.
  • Thinner consistency softeners are less likely to contribute to build-up.

Special Guide for Stain Removal

WARNING

Do not use or mix liquid chlorine bleach with other household chemicals like toilet cleaners, rust removers, acids, or ammonia-based products. These mixtures can produce dangerous fumes causing serious injury or death. To reduce the risk of fire or serious injury, comply with basic warnings:

  • Read and follow all instructions on stain removal products.
  • Keep stain removal products in original labeled containers, out of children's reach.
  • Thoroughly wash any utensil used.
  • Do not combine stain removal products, especially ammonia and chlorine bleach, as dangerous fumes may result.
  • Never wash items previously cleaned in, washed in, soaked in, or spotted with gasoline, dry-cleaning solvents, or other flammable/explosive substances, as their vapors can ignite or explode.
  • Never use highly flammable solvents like gasoline indoors; vapors can explode on contact with flames or sparks.

For successful stain removal:

  • Remove stains promptly.
  • Identify the stain type and follow the recommended treatment in the stain removal chart.
  • For pretreatment, use a pre-wash product, liquid detergent, or a paste of granular detergent and water.
  • Use COLD water on unknown stains, as HOT water can set them.
  • Check care label instructions for specific fabric treatments.
  • Test stain remover on an inside seam for color fastness.
  • Rinse and wash items after stain removal.

Connecting Hose

Water Supply Hose

Normal Type: For normal taps without thread and one-touch type inlet hoses.

Diagrams illustrate each step of connecting the hose.
  1. Separate Middle connector from Water Supply Hose by pulling the Pressing Rod and Handle.
  2. Loosen fixed nuts to connect the connector to the tap. Untighten screw so tap fits in middle.
  3. Fixing Connectors to the Tap: Push upper connector up until rubber packing is tight against tap. Tighten 4 screws.
  4. Fixing Upper Connector and Middle Connector: Remove fixed sticker. Tighten connectors by holding one and twisting the middle connector.
  5. Connecting Middle Connector and Water Supply Hose: Press pressing rod and join to middle connector.
  6. Check for water leakage: Open tap after connecting hose end to machine. If leaks occur, close tap and restart from step 1. Skipping step 1 may cause leaks.

NOTE: If tap is too large or square, untighten 4 screws and remove guide plate, then follow step 1.

Connecting Water Supply Hose to the machine

Connect the water supply hose to the inlet valve and lock it by turning the connecting part. Check for a rubber seal.

Diagram shows hose connector and rubber seal.

Remove foreign substances (dirt, sand or sawdust): After connecting inlet hose to faucets, turn on faucets to flush lines. Let water drain into a bucket and check condition.

NOTE: Use only authorized components for safety and product life. Manufacturer is not responsible for malfunction/accidents from unauthorized parts. Use new hoses. Do not stretch hoses intentionally or allow them to be crushed.

Drain Hose

How to connect the drain hose

Diagrams illustrate drain hose connection steps and placement guidelines.
  1. Insert drain hose to the connecting area at the body.
  2. Press hose clip, push hose towards body, release clip.

Guidelines:

  • Less than 2m hose length.
  • Less than 6cm from hose end to floor if placed over a doorsill.
  • Ensure hose is not clogged by alien substances.
  • Less than 10cm distance from wall to hose.
  • Ensure hose is not crushed between wall and washer.
  • Less than 3m for extension hose.
  • Avoid submerging the end of the hose.

Grounding Method

Earth wire should be connected. If not connected, there is a risk of electric shock from current leakage.

Grounding Method with Ground insert space Terminal

If the AC outlet has a ground terminal, separate grounding is not required.

Diagram shows a ground terminal and indicates grounding is not needed.

CAUTION / सावधानी

Concerning the Power Cord

Most appliances recommend a dedicated circuit. Check the specification page. Do not overload wall outlets. Loose, damaged outlets, extension cords, frayed cords, or damaged insulation are dangerous and could result in electric shock or fire. Periodically examine the cord; if damaged, unplug and discontinue use. Have it replaced by an authorized servicer. Protect the power cord from physical abuse (twisting, kinking, pinching, being walked on). Pay attention to plugs, outlets, and cord exit points.

Other Grounding Method

  • Burying Copper Plate: Connect Ground Wire to a Ground Copper Plate and bury it more than 75cm in the ground.
  • Using Ground Wire: Connect the ground Wire to the socket provided exclusively for Grounding.
  • Using a Short Circuit Breaker: If other grounding methods are not possible, employ a separate circuit breaker installed by a qualified electrician.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Cold water washing

If always using COLD water, use WARM or HOT wash at regular intervals (e.g., every 5th wash).

When you have finished

  • Turn off taps to prevent flooding from hose bursts.
  • Always unplug the power cord after use.

When water supply is not clean or the filter is clogged with particles (sand), clean the filter in the inlet valve occasionally.

Diagram shows power cord and water tap, noting they may vary.

To Clean the Filter in the Inlet Valve #

Steps illustrated with diagrams: 1. Close tap, turn off power, press START/PAUSE to remove water. 2. Turn off power before pulling cord. 3. Stop water supply, remove inlet hose, pull out filter. 4. Replace filter after cleaning. Use a brush to clean the filter.

NOTE: Remove impurities from the water supply hose before cleaning the filter.

To Clean the Magic Filter

NOTE: If the magic filter is damaged, purchase a new one from LG Authorized Service Center.

# Product features may vary by model. Figures are schematic diagrams only.

When there is a fear of freezing

  • Close water taps and remove the Water Supply Hose.
  • Remove remaining water from the supply.
  • Lower the drain hose and drain water from the bowl and hose by spinning.

If frozen

  • Remove water supply hose and immerse in HOT water (approx. 40°C).
  • Pour approx. 2 liters of HOT water (approx. 40°C) into the bowl and let stand for 10 minutes.
  • Connect water supply hose and confirm machine performs supply and drainage.

Wash Inner-tub

Leave lid open after washing to allow moisture to evaporate. Clean inner-tub with a soft cloth dampened with liquid detergent, then rinse. Do not use harsh cleaners.

Hoses

  • Inlet Hoses: Replace every 5 years.
  • Exterior: Wipe spills immediately with a damp cloth. Avoid sharp objects.

Long Vacations

Shut off water supply at faucets. Drain all water from hoses if weather will be below freezing.

Cleaning the Inside of your Washer

If using fabric softener or regular COLD water washing, clean the inside of your washer occasionally.

  • Fill washer with HOT water.
  • Add about two cups of powdered detergent containing phosphate.
  • Let it operate for several minutes.
  • Stop washer, open lid, and let it soak overnight.
  • After soaking, drain and run through a normal cycle.
  • Alternatively, use the TUB CLEAN PROGRAM periodically.

Do not wash clothes during this procedure.

Products that might damage your washing machine

  • Concentrated bleaches and diaper sanitizers can damage paintwork and components.
  • Hydrocarbon solvents (petrol, paint thinners, lacquer thinners) can dissolve plastic and blister paint. (Be careful when washing garments stained with these solvents; they are flammable and should NOT be put in the washer or dryer.)
  • Some pretreatment sprays or liquids can damage the control panel.
  • Dyes may stain plastic components but do not damage the machine; clean thoroughly afterward. Dye strippers are not recommended.
  • Do not use the washer lid as a work surface.

Smart Closing Door*

  • Washing process is visible through tempered safety glass.
  • Smart hinge prevents sudden door closing.
  • The door is heavy; close it carefully, avoiding hands or materials getting caught, which could cause injury or damage.
Diagram shows the Smart Hinge.

Door closing time depends on ambient temperature. Higher temperature means lower closing time. Performs best when lid is closed from full open condition.
