Pioneer DJ XDJ-RX3 Quick Start Guide
This guide provides essential information for setting up and operating the Pioneer DJ XDJ-RX3.
Preparation
Before you begin, ensure you have the necessary software installed and your equipment connected correctly.
Software Installation
Install the audio driver software and LINK Export driver software designed for the XDJ-RX3 unit. You can download rekordbox from rekordbox.com/download and Serato DJ Pro from serato.com/dj/pro/downloads.
Connections
Connect your external devices to the XDJ-RX3 as illustrated in the connection diagram.
Connection Diagram Overview:
The diagram shows the rear panel of the Pioneer DJ XDJ-RX3 and typical audio and data connections:
- MASTER OUT: Connect your main speakers to the BALANCED XLR or RCA outputs.
- BOOTH OUT: Connect your monitor speakers to the BALANCED TRS output.
- PHONO/LINE: Connect turntables or CDJs to these RCA inputs.
- USB: Connect a computer for DJ software control or use USB storage devices for music playback.
- AC IN: Connect the power cable here.
- AUX: Connect an auxiliary audio source via RCA.

Basic Operation
Follow these steps to perform basic operations on the XDJ-RX3:
- Load Track: Use the BROWSE/TAG LIST/SEARCH controls to navigate your music library. Press the LOAD 1 or LOAD 2 button to load a selected track onto the corresponding deck.
- Play/Pause: Press the PLAY/PAUSE button to start or stop track playback.
- Jog Wheel: Touch the top surface of the jog wheel to scratch or move the platter to adjust the track's playback speed.
- CUE: Press the CUE button to set a playback starting point or return to it.
- Pitch Bend: Use the PITCH BEND buttons to temporarily speed up or slow down the track.
- Tempo Slider: Adjust the track's tempo (BPM) using the tempo slider.
- EQ Controls: Use the LOW, MID, and HIGH knobs for each channel to adjust the equalization.
- Crossfader: Move the crossfader to smoothly transition between the two decks.
- TRIM: Adjust the input gain for each channel using the TRIM knobs.
- MASTER LEVEL: Control the overall output volume with the MASTER LEVEL knob.

The unit features numerous controls for DJ performance:
- Jog Wheel: Large, touch-sensitive wheel for track manipulation.
- CUE Button: Sets or recalls cue points.
- MIXING (Headphones): Adjusts the balance between CUE and MASTER audio in headphones.
- LEVEL (Headphones): Controls the volume of the headphone output.
- TRIM: Adjusts the input level for each channel.
- MASTER LEVEL: Controls the overall volume of the main outputs.
- Tempo Slider: Fine-tunes the track's BPM.
- LOAD 1 / LOAD 2: Buttons to load tracks to Deck 1 or Deck 2.
- BROWSE/TAG LIST/SEARCH: Controls for navigating music libraries.
- PITCH BEND: Buttons to temporarily alter track tempo.
- Crossfader: Blends audio between channels.
Headphones and Microphones
Headphones
Connect your headphones to the dedicated headphone jack.
- CUE: Press the CUE button for the desired channel to monitor its audio in your headphones.
- MIXING: Adjust the balance between the CUE signal and the MASTER output signal in your headphones.
- LEVEL: Control the volume of the headphone output.
Microphones
Connect microphones to the MIC 1 and MIC 2 inputs.
- LEVEL: Adjust the input gain for each microphone.
- TALK OVER: Activate this feature to automatically reduce the music volume when you speak into the microphone.
- ON/OFF: Switch the microphone inputs on or off.
