Foosball Table Game Rules
To Start a Match
A coin flip determines table side choice or first serve. The winner of the flip makes the decision.
The Serve
Play begins with a serve through the serving hole. This is done at the start of the match, after a point, or when the ball leaves the table.
Subsequent Serves
After the first serve, the team that last scored makes the subsequent serves.
Ball in Play
The ball remains in play until it is hit off the table, declared dead, time out is called, or a point is scored.
Ball Off the Table
If the ball leaves the table, the team that originally served puts it back into play.
Dead Ball
A ball is dead when it stops moving and is out of reach of any player figure. If dead between the goalie and 2-man rods, it's placed in the nearest corner. If dead elsewhere, it's put back into play by the original serving team.
Point Scored
A ball entering the goal legally counts as a point. Balls returning to the playing surface or leaving the table after entering the goal still count.
Change of Positions
In doubles, players are restricted to their designated rods. Players must maintain their position until a point is scored.
Spinning the Rods
Spinning rods (rotating figures more than 360 degrees) is illegal. If a spun ball enters the goal, it's not counted as a point and play restarts as if it were a dead ball.
Jarring
Jarring, sliding, or lifting the table is illegal.
Reaching into the Playing Area
Reaching into the playing area while the ball is in play is illegal.
