Challenge: A key challenge in PTSD treatment is patients' reliance on imagining traumatic experiences, which many are unwilling or unable to do, a cardinal symptom of PTSD.

Solution: The MedVR group collaborated with Dell Technologies on the Bravemind program, enabling clinicians to recreate traumatic scenarios for victims of PTSD. This immersive graduated exposure therapy allows patients to safely relive experiences, combining psychology, medicine, and social work practices to achieve positive outcomes.

Outcome: In May 2018, Dell announced a $100,000 grant to further develop Project Bravemind, enhancing its capabilities with higher fidelity VR equipment at a lower cost. The program is available free of charge to clinicians and is deployed at over 100 sites, including VA sites, Army medical centers, Airforce clinics, and University clinics.
