Puretec Customer Service

Thank you for purchasing a Puretec inline undersink water filter system. Your system is manufactured from quality materials and components and is designed to provide years of 'spring fresh' water free of impurities when maintained properly. The Puretec system cartridges require regular replacement to maintain optimum performance. This is a simple procedure when following instructions. For cartridge replacements, contact your nearest Puretec stockist.

Customer Service Helpline: 1300 140 140 (Australia) | 0800 130 140 (New Zealand).

Operation

The Puretec inline undersink water filter systems are designed for economical, long-term use, dependent on initial installation and periodical maintenance. Flush systems for 10 minutes after any period of non-use exceeding 2 days. For periods of non-use of 2 weeks or more, cartridge replacement may be necessary.

Cartridge Replacement

To maintain high water quality, cartridges need changing every 6-12 months, depending on water quality and usage. When replacing a cartridge, ensure you reset the LED reminder light by removing/replacing the battery from the rubber seat (refer to page 8 for a detailed diagram).

Installation

Installation Notes

This system includes an installation kit for connection to a 15 mm (1/2") male thread. A water filter system/tap has a limited life and may eventually fail. To avoid property damage, regularly examine the product for leakage and/or deterioration and replace when necessary. A drain pan, plumbed to an appropriate drain or outfitted with a leak detector, is recommended for applications where leakage could cause property damage. The water supply should be turned off if no one is home/present.

Installation Requirements

Alternative fittings may be required if connecting to anything other than a 15 mm (1/2") copper pipe. No electrical or drainage requirements are needed.

Installation Procedure

  1. Select a suitable location close to the point of filtered water delivery (e.g., sink). Ensure access for changing filters and a place where water spillage will not cause damage. Avoid direct sunlight.
  2. Isolate water supply and cut the copper pipe to install the adaptor ballvalve.
  3. Connect the SmartTee™ to the multivalve using a piece of white tubing (see Figure 3).
  4. Choose the best position for the faucet, considering jug height and drainage for spills. Drill a Ø12.5mm hole and install the faucet as per step 5.
  5. To install the faucet: place the Escutcheon, O-Ring, and Base Upholder into the Faucet (see Figure 3). Insert the Faucet into the hole in the sink or bench. Slip the large Plastic Washer and lock Washer onto the threaded end of the faucet, screw on the Nut, and tighten, ensuring the Faucet is correctly positioned.
  6. Reset the LED indicator by following instructions on page 8.
  7. Install the filter cartridge: position it in the desired location, mark the fixing hole, and secure with the bracket screw. The Puretec inline cartridge can be mounted horizontally or vertically. Allow room for connecting tubes. Ensure the flow arrow on the cartridge is in the direction of water flow.
  8. Fit tubing into connectors using quick-connect fittings (see Figure 2). Allow slack in the tubing.
  9. Restore the water supply and check for leaks.
  10. Run the system for at least 5 minutes to remove carbon fines. Water may appear milky initially due to air bubbles, which will clear shortly.

Cartridge Installation/Replacement

  1. Place a container under the filter to catch drips.
  2. Isolate water supply and release water pressure by operating the faucet lever.
  3. Disconnect tubing from the cartridge. Discard the old cartridge.
  4. Remove packaging from the new cartridge. Connect tubing to either end of the cartridge, ensuring the flow arrow is in the direction of water flow.
  5. When replacing the cartridge, reset the LED reminder light by removing/replacing the battery from the rubber seat (refer to page 8 for a detailed diagram).
  6. Restore water supply.
  7. Check for leaks and rectify any before leaving the unit.

After installing cartridges, flush the unit for 5-10 minutes.

Use Guidelines

Caution: Do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before or after the system.

ATTENTION: For Australasian Consumers, the LED filter change reminder light on this tap has been disabled/removed to comply with new Legislation "Consumer Goods (Products Containing Button/Coin Batteries) Safety Standard 2020 - F2020L01658". This does not affect the performance of the filter system in any way, and you are eligible for Puretec's free email cartridge reminder service.

Assembly Diagrams

Figure 1 - System Diagram

This diagram illustrates the components of the inline water filtration system. It shows the faucet connected via tubing to an inline filter cartridge, which is mounted on a bracket. The system connects to the main water supply through a SmartTee™ fitting and a pressure-limiting multivalve. The diagram includes numbered parts:

No. DESCRIPTION
1 SmartTee™ 1/2" M x 1/2"F x 1/4"T
2 Flexible White Tubing
3 Pressure Limiting Multivalve
4 Inline Filter Cartridge
5 Mounting Bracket
6 Tube, Nut and Ferrule
7 Tube Insert
8 Faucet Lock Nut and Washer
9 Black Plastic Washer
10 LED Faucet

The flow direction is indicated by an arrow (➡️).

Figure 2 - How to Use Quick Connect Fittings

This figure demonstrates the use of quick-connect fittings for tubing:

  1. Connection: Cut the tube end squarely. For metal tubes, remove burrs and chamfer the end to prevent O-ring damage. Push the tube into the fitting until it reaches the tube stop. The fitting grips the tube to seal.
  2. Secured Tube: The tube is now securely in position.
  3. Disconnection Procedure: Push the collet against the fitting body and simultaneously slide the tube out of the fitting.

Figure 3 - SmartTee™ Quick Connect Fitting

This figure details the operation of the SmartTee™ quick connect fitting:

  1. To Release: Turn the quick connect nut on the SmartTee™ anticlockwise to release the collet.
  2. To Connect: Cut the tube squarely. For metal tubes, remove burrs and chamfer the end to prevent O-ring seal damage. Push the tube into the tube stop (inside the collet) until it is fully inserted.
  3. Secured Connection: The fitting grips before it seals. Ensure the tube is pushed all the way into the tube stop.
  4. To Secure: Once the tube is secured, turn the quick connect nut clockwise to secure it. Hand tighten only; do not overtighten.
  5. Disconnection Procedure: Turn the quick connect nut anticlockwise to release the collet. Push the collet against the quick connect nut and slide the tube out of the fitting.

Battery Installation - LED Reminder Light

Important Note: The battery must be replaced when changing cartridges.

The LED reminder light is located in the faucet lever assembly. The components include the Faucet, Escutcheon, O-Ring, Base Upholder, Counter Top, Plastic Washer, Lock Washer, Locking Nut, Gasket, Cone Washer/Olive, 1/4" Compression Nut, 1/4" Tube, Display, Battery Seat, Circuit Board, and Battery (CR2032).

  1. Remove the black battery seat from the faucet lever handle.
  2. Install the CR2032 battery into the battery seat with the positive side up. The negative side connects to the PCB.
  3. Reinstall the battery seat assembly into the faucet lever.
