Garmin ECHOMAP Ultra 2 16xsv Installation Instructions

Warning:
- Do not remove the inline fuse holder when connecting the power cable. Always use the correct fuse as indicated in the product specifications to prevent the risk of fire or product damage due to overheating. Failure to use the correct fuse when connecting the power cable will void the product warranty.
- Failure to install this device according to these instructions may result in personal injury, damage to the boat or equipment, or reduced product performance.
Caution:
- To prevent possible personal injury, always wear safety glasses, ear protection, and a dust mask when drilling, cutting, or grinding.
- To prevent possible personal injury or damage to the equipment and boat, disconnect the boat's power before installing the equipment.
- To prevent possible personal injury or damage to the equipment and boat, ensure the equipment is properly grounded before connecting power to the equipment.
- To prevent possible personal injury or damage to the equipment and boat, install this equipment only when the boat is out of the water, or when the boat is properly secured and docked in calm water conditions.
Note:
- When drilling or cutting, always check the surface on the opposite side to avoid damaging the boat.
- Read all installation instructions before proceeding with the installation. If you encounter difficulties during installation, contact Garmin Product Support.
Required Tools
- Drill bit
- Drill bit
- For bracket installation: Use a 3 mm (1/8 in.) drill bit and select screws that match the mounting surface and hardware.
- For flush mounting: Use 3.2 mm (1/8 in.) and 8.5 mm (11/32 in.) drill bits.
- #2 Phillips screwdriver
- Jigsaw or rotary tool
- File and sandpaper
- Marine sealant (optional)

Software Update
After installation, you may need to update the chartplotter software. For instructions on how to update the software, refer to the owner's manual: garmin.com/manuals/echomap_ultra_2_16xsv.
Installation Considerations
You can flush-mount the unit or mount it on the dashboard using the bracket.
When choosing a mounting location, follow these considerations:
- The mounting location must provide a clear view of the screen and easy access to the unit's buttons.
- The mounting location must be strong enough to support the unit and bracket.
- Cables must be long enough to connect the components and to the power source.
- To avoid interference with a magnetic compass, the unit must be installed at a distance that is greater than the specified compass safe distance.
Installing with the Bracket
You can mount the unit on a flat surface using the bracket.
- Use the bracket-mount bracket ① as a template to mark the mounting hole locations ②.
- Drill the pilot holes using a 3 mm (1/8 in.) drill bit.
- Attach the mounting bracket to the surface using the included washers and wood screws ③.
- Install the bracket-mount knobs ④ on the sides of the unit.
- Place the unit into the bracket-mount bracket and tighten the bracket-mount knobs.
- Install the hole plugs into the edges of the unit to secure them.
