Hydraulic Pump Warnings and Precautions
WARNING: Basic safety precautions must be followed to reduce the risk of personal injury and equipment damage.
- Keep the work area clean.
- Observe work area conditions: Do not use in damp/wet locations or expose to rain. Keep well-lighted. Do not use near flammable gases or liquids.
- Keep children away from the work area.
- Store idle equipment in a dry location to prevent rust. Lock up tools and keep them out of reach of children.
- Do not force the tool; use it at its intended rate. Do not use inappropriate attachments.
- Use the right tool for the job. Do not modify the tool or use it for unintended purposes.
- Dress properly: Avoid loose clothing or jewelry. Wear protective, electrically non-conductive clothing and non-skid footwear. Contain long hair.
- Use eye and ear protection: Always wear ANSI-approved impact safety goggles. Wear a full face shield if producing metal filings or wood chips. Wear an ANSI-approved dust mask or respirator for dust and mists.
- Do not overreach; maintain proper footing and balance.
- Maintain tools with care: Keep tools sharp and clean. Follow lubrication and accessory instructions. Inspect tool cords periodically. Handles must be kept clean, dry, and free from oil and grease.
- Disconnect power when not in use.
- Remove adjusting keys and wrenches before plugging in.
- Avoid unintentional starting: Ensure the switch is OFF before plugging in. Do not carry tools with a finger on the trigger.
- Stay alert: Watch what you are doing and use common sense. Do not operate when tired.
- Check for damaged parts: Before use, check for proper operation, alignment, binding, broken parts, or mounting fixtures. Damaged parts should be repaired or replaced by a qualified technician. Do not use if a switch does not operate properly.
- Guard against electric shock: Prevent body contact with grounded surfaces.
- Replacement parts and accessories: Use only identical replacement parts to avoid voiding the warranty. Use only intended accessories.
- Do not operate under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Consult prescription warnings if judgment or reflexes may be impaired.
- Use the proper size and type of extension cord: For 0-12 amps (up to 50 feet), use 16 AWG wire size. Longer cords require larger wires. Use outdoor-rated cords for outdoor use.
- Maintenance: For safety, service and maintenance should be performed regularly by a qualified technician.
- Pacemaker warning: Operation near a heart pacemaker could cause interference or failure.
Note: Performance may vary with local line voltage and extension cord usage.
Warning: This manual cannot cover all possible conditions. Operator must supply common sense and caution.
Unpacking
When unpacking, check that the unit is assembled as shown in the cover photo. Refer to the Parts List and Assembly Drawing at the end of this manual. If parts are missing or broken, contact customer service.
Installation
Before use, connect the hydraulic pipe to the hydraulic pump outlet and butt the quick connector with the tool. [Diagram Description: A visual showing the hydraulic pipe being connected to the pump's outlet port, followed by connecting the quick connector to the hydraulic tool.]
Operation and Maintenance
Before using the pump unit:
- Check the oil tank for sufficient oil level, ensuring it is higher than the oil-window.
- Open the air-out screw before operating the pump.
- Inspect the oil pressure with the gauge.
- Change the hydraulic oil every 18 months.
- Filter the oil before changing. #15-#32 hydraulic oil is recommended.
- Handle the pump at temperatures between 10-50°C.
- Stop working if the motor becomes excessively hot to protect the system.
- Replace oil hoses if damaged or aged; the standard rated pressure is 105MPa (inspect at 87.5MPa).
- Before each use, check all fittings for tightness.
- Allow the motor to cool down after extended use.
- Replace bearing parts and lubricate them accordingly every 18 months.
