RTI Theater Touch System

Typical Application

The typical application diagram illustrates how the RTI Theater Touch System integrates various audio and video components for comprehensive home theater control. It shows connections for receivers, tuners, CD players, DVD players, VCRs, projectors, and other devices. The system utilizes IR emitters to control infrared-dependent equipment, RF data transmission for wireless control, and connections to both switched and unswitched power outlets. Components like the IRF-6 System Interface Module act as a central hub, managing IR outputs and RF signals. Optional components such as multiple antennas and IR receivers, along with connecting blocks (e.g., Xantech or compatible), are also depicted to expand system capabilities. The diagram emphasizes the modularity and connectivity options available for a sophisticated home automation setup.

Programming Tools

The Theater Touch system is programmed using a powerful Windows-based software package. This software allows users to configure the system, assign commands to buttons on the remote, and manage device control logic, providing a user-friendly interface for creating customized home theater experiences.

A Complete System in the Palm of Your Hand

RTI's Theater Touch System delivers an exceptional level of control, combining power and flexibility in an affordable, user-friendly package. It transcends the role of a mere universal remote, acting as a complete control system capable of infrared (IR) and radio frequency (RF) transmission, reliable power sensing, and advanced RS-232 communications. Designed for any size home theater and compatible with most electronic and home automation devices, the Theater Touch System leverages RTI's industry-leading control technology to provide an intuitive and comprehensive A/V control experience.

Multiple Components. One Powerful System.

The modular design of the Theater Touch System allows it to function as a standalone universal remote for simpler needs or be fully integrated with other components to create a powerful, yet uncomplicated, home theater control system. This flexibility makes it an affordable solution for any home theater installation.

Key Components:

  • T2 Universal System Controller: Features a graphical LCD touchscreen, ergonomic design for effortless one-handed operation, and RF capabilities for control through walls and cabinets. Any button can be programmed to transmit one or more commands, making it the foundation of a powerful and user-friendly control system.
  • IRF-6 System Interface Module: Easily integrated into the system, this module functions as a six-zone IR router, IR connecting block, RF receiver, and includes multi-purpose communication ports. It offers six multi-purpose output ports, one IR Data input port, a remote antenna with a 12-foot lead for flexible placement, and variable IR output power on all ports.
  • CM-232 Communication Module: Enables RS-232 control of compatible devices through the IRF-6 System Interface Module. It connects to the IRF-6 output ports and allows for user-definable output strings using the Theater Touch Designer software.
  • SPS-1 Video Sync Power Sensor: Monitors the 'on' and 'off' status of video components by detecting the presence or absence of a video signal's vertical sync pulse. It communicates this status back to the IRF-6 System Interface Module. It connects to the IRF-6 output ports, requires no separate power supply, and includes a built-in jack for an IR emitter.
  • VPS-1 Voltage Power Sensor: Monitors the 'on' and 'off' status of electronic components by detecting AC or DC voltage. Similar to the SPS-1, it connects to the IRF-6 output ports, draws power from them, and features a built-in jack for an IR emitter.
