Getting Started
- Connect the THINKSCAN SD with your vehicle through the OBDII port: The OBDII port is typically located under the dashboard, above the pedal on the driver's side. The manual shows five common locations.
- Turn on the THINKSCAN SD: After connecting to the car, the screen will display as shown in the diagram.
- Connect Wi-Fi: The system will automatically search for available Wi-Fi networks. Select the desired network. Wi-Fi must be configured before use.
ThinkScan SD Host Functions
The THINKSCAN SD host computer offers the following functions:
- OBD: Diagnosis of all engine-related problems.
- Scan: Supports multi-system diagnosis, reading and clearing fault codes, reading data streams, and reading ECU information.
- Maintenance: Supports common maintenance and reset functions.
- ThinkStore: Purchase Thinkcar products and software.
- ThinkFile: Records diagnostic-related documents such as diagnosis reports and screenshots.
- Setting: General settings for the ThinkScan SD.
Software and Settings
Download Diagnostics Software
You need to download the corresponding diagnostics software for the first use of a car make. Subsequent uses do not require re-downloading.
Settings Menu
This page allows basic setup, including Wi-Fi, screenshot function, brightness, language selection, and time zone configuration.
Function Descriptions
- Order: Diagnostic software purchase records.
- Feedback: Submit feedback on diagnostic software/app bugs for improvement.
- Repair Info: Includes Fault Code Database, Car Makes Coverage List, Videos (equipment usage, maintenance, and diagnosis guides), and Learning Course (tool operation guides).
- Upgrade: Update diagnostic software and apps, and set up frequently used software. Download or synchronize with the latest version.
- Screenshots: Enable/disable the screenshot function.
- Screen floating window: Enable/disable the screen recording function.
- Network: Configure the connectable Wi-Fi network.
- Firmware upgrade: Update the device firmware.
- Language: Select the tool's language from the displayed options.
- Time zone: Choose the current time zone for automatic time configuration.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- Q: No response when connected to a car computer?
A: Check the connection to the vehicle diagnostic socket, ensure the ignition switch is ON, and verify tool compatibility with the car. - Q: System stops while reading data stream?
A: This may be due to loose diagnostic dongles. Unplug and firmly reconnect the dongle. - Q: Communication error with vehicle ECU?
A: Confirm correct diagnostic dongle connection, that the ignition switch is ON, and if issues persist, provide vehicle details (year, make, model, VIN) via the Feedback function. - Q: Host screen flashes when engine ignition starts?
A: This is normal and caused by electromagnetic interference. - Q: How to upgrade system software?
A: Ensure a stable internet connection. Navigate to "Set up" -> "App Update", click "OTA", then "check version". Follow on-screen instructions. The tool will restart upon successful upgrade. - Q: How to use points?
A: Earn points by participating in THINKCAR events or referring others. 1 point deducts 1 USD when purchasing THINKCAR products and services.
Warranty Terms
THINKCAR TECH INC warrants its electronic products against defects in materials or workmanship for one year from the date of delivery. This warranty does not cover damages caused by abuse, unauthorized modification, use for non-designed purposes, or operation not specified in the instructions. Compensation for dashboard damage due to equipment defects is limited to repair or replacement. THINKCAR TECH is not liable for indirect or incidental losses. THINKCAR TECH reserves the right to determine the nature of equipment damage through its inspection methods. No agents or representatives are authorized to make confirmations or promises regarding THINKCAR TECH products.
